Summary
One-Shot. I wrote this for New Dream appreciation week back in September of 2019.
After years of dating, Rapunzel and Eugene have moved in together to an apartment in what I like to imagine is a busy city such as Buenos Aires, New York, Chicago… Take your pick. This is actually a songfic, because I was heavily inspired by Taylor Swift’s song “Lover”. It was an idea I had to get out of my mind, because I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so it was mostly catarthic. Anyways, it’s quite short and really simple, but I hope you like it.

Summary
It's 1975, and Lily Evans lives a double life.
At home, she's the Irish Catholic daughter of a union organizer in a dying industrial town. She smokes, drinks, and sneaks out her window to go to punk shows. At Hogwarts, Lily never puts a toe out of line. As a Muggle-born, she'd never give her pure-blood classmates any reason to doubt her.
James Potter has never had to be anyone but himself.
Why would he? Wealthy, good-looking, and intelligent, he knows he's lucky. But the war with Voldemort is bringing what's important into sharp relief. His aging parents have joined the Order of the Phoenix, and James longs to fight alongside them.
When Voldemort's followers murder seven Muggle-borns in broad daylight just before the start of their fifth year, tensions at Hogwarts reach an all-time high. Voldemort is recruiting from the student body, and the time has come to act.
But Hogwarts is not split between good people and Death Eaters, and old prejudices die hard. In dark times, alliances shift and secrets are revealed.
And maybe, through it all, Lily and James will fall in love with the person they least expect: each other.

Summary
There’s a muscle in James’ jaw that jumps when he’s annoyed or frustrated or generally hypertensive. She’s seen it a hundred times: when a coworker interrupts their quiet evening with an inane text; when Peter says something that gets under his skin; when Lily’s insufferable colleague, Evan, says something extraordinarily repugnant at a department gathering and James is itching to break his nose but Lily has already told him that he cannot do that. She loves that little twitch of his face, the way his the line of his jaw sharpens when he grinds his teeth and the swift exhale through his nose that tells her that he’s either counting to four like Remus told him he needs to do more often, or he’s thinking of a hundred different ways to relieve his stress, at least ninety-six of which involve her.
He’s made a mistake this evening: He’s told her to play nice.
She’s looking for that muscle in his jaw.

She peers around the chair, ready to make her break for it and hide somewhere else instead, because it’s fun to make him keep looking, but it turns out he won’t have to, because he’s leaning against the doorway, arms folded and looking smug.
“Gotcha,” he says, smirking, eyes flashing with mirth and slight arrogance, the kind she adores.

This is not sustainable.
He cannot keep being so god damn perfect or it’s going to ruin her. It sort of already has, really. Lily Evans is a practical young woman, and having sex dreams about one’s best friend that leave one waking up hot and bothered at 3:32 in the morning is decidedly impractical. Especially when said friend—self-proclaimed early bird—started Mamma Mia! together over facetime at half-past eleven solely because she said she couldn’t sleep, even though he likes to get up early and go on long runs before work. And then she went and fell asleep mid-lyric to Dancing Queen and he sent her a string of text messages and stayed awake long enough to finish the movie, all the while she was passed out on the couch dreaming of his face between her thighs.
Again.
For the third night in a row.
(It would be the eighth, but there was one night she had a stress dream about missing her Eighteenth Century Women’s Lit exam.)
This is not sustainable.

Summary
