Summary
With a bang, the door flew open at John's shout and two men came stumbling inside. They were soaked to the skin and their military uniforms, black with rainwater and misery, marked them as army men. One had a rifle slung over his shoulder and his cap was crooked over his wet hair; the other was missing his hat along with part of his skull, a bloody wound rending open the skin and bone of his forehead.
“Help me,” begged the soldier.
During a spring thunderstorm, an army sergeant and a dying man seek refuge in John Irving's church.

Summary
“This is how it’s going to go,” said Silna.
Her vocalizer needed a new processor, badly. The synthetic voice warbled and stuttered mechanically, clashing with the blaring reggaeton that filtered through the walls of the private lounge. Everything about her was out of place. Her mechanic’s hands, the dust on her boots, her dark eyes which shone with disdain—not for him or this shitty hole-in-the-wall club in Heywood, but for the city itself. That was always the most baffling thing about Nomads to Sol, who was a city boy through and through.
In which Sol Tozer, street rat and mercenary-for-hire, meets Edward Little, corporate counterintelligence, during the gig of the century.

Summary
Little started to rise, winced, as though he were dizzy, and then froze at the sight of his own hand upon the railing of the sledge, the dirt and grime encrusted on his fingers and beneath his nails. He touched the fraying cuff of his sleeve as Goodsir leaned over to inspect the bandages, and then something seemed to occur to him. Faltering, he asked, “How long has it been since we set out from Greenhithe?”
“Greenhithe?” The surgeon echoed, in quiet horror.
A whole bloody lifetime, he thought. “Three years.” Solomon had lost track of the days, but Little himself had read aloud the date of their execution before the gallows. “It’s May. Of 1848.”
When Tommy Armitage knocks the last three years of memories from Lieutenant Little’s head, Solomon Tozer finds himself the linchpin in an elaborate ruse to convince Little that he joined their mutiny willingly.

Summary
“If I have misunderstood or overstepped with your relationship with Rook in some way,” began Emmrich reluctantly.
“There is nothing to misunderstand.” Like an ember sparking in a hearth, Spite came to light. WHAT? ROOK IS INTERESTING. WE LIKE HER. IS SHE NOT OURS?
The assassin made a sharp exhale, pinching his brow. “Tell me you did not overhear that.” Then, before he could answer, Lucanis continued. “Don’t listen to Spite. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Rook is not…she is not mine.” A pause. Lucanis met his eyes and there was something there, a glimmer of the roguish charm he had seen on Viago and Illario the last time Emmrich was dragged to the Cantori Diamond. “At least, not yet.”
The implicated challenge lay between them. He laughed, readjusting the grip on his staff. At the market stall, Rook was loading things into her bag; they would be setting off soon. “Gentlemen’s rules, then?”
“I’m a professional, not a gentlemen,” said Lucanis smoothly. “But I’ll play fair—just this once.”
A love story in three parts, and thrice as many outfits.

Summary
To young lord Hans Capon of Pirkstein, no matter whether he was the son of a village blacksmith or a noble's bastard, Henry was no more than a dog.
The moment the dog dared to disobey, all he was good for was to be kicked, and all he could hope for is that the lord, in his infinite noble wisdom, wouldn't deem him rabid—and put him down.
Let it be so, then. If he was an unruly dog, hungering after something he had no right to, then he was already damned. God can't help him.
His soul was already lost—the leash to it in different hands than God's.Henry tries to bury all the conflicting feelings about his lord somewhere deep. But was born under an unlucky star, after all: the world won't let him keep these things buried for too long. A study of Henry's state of mind after Laboratores until For Victory!; exploration of his own fears and desires he struggles to understand. Canon compliant, extended: filling in the gaps. Misunderstood religious misery, self-discovery, shameless dog motif, power imbalance and crossing the class divide; two absolute fools in horrible, horrible love.
Chapter titles reference the associated in-game quest.

Summary
God’s truth: It does not occur to Henry until the moment he spies Hans’s heel hanging over the edge of the hangman’s block at Trosky that Birdie of Pirkstein could ever die.
My take on For Whom the Bell Tolls. KCD2 spoilers for said quest. One shot, canon outcome with an established relationship flair.

Summary
The bell rings, the sound echoing through his mind as it races and wanders in and out of the boundaries of their shared memory. Blue eyes, a sunburnt nose, yellow brocade, a casual touch. A confession, or an admission. A hammer to break down these walls that separate them. Authority he has no right to.
Henry keeps his eyes on the gallows, the shadows it cast, clean lines drawn on the mud in shade, painted as though by God’s steady hand.
Twelve bells. Two dying men. Henry thinks about the past as the future calls with each ringing of the bell in Trosky.
