The brown eyes met his black, searching and unsure. “...is it okay?”
“It helps, right?” He was already moving closer. Their knees brushed together.
Natsume hummed. “I–I don't understand why, but…”
“You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.” Tanuma wanted to reach and smooth the frown on his face. He didn’t dare though.
“I do.” There was a spark of determination in his eyes. Or maybe it was desperation?
Tanuma wasn’t sure, so he just listened.
With a deep breath Natsume gathered his thoughts. “I think…it’s...grounding?”
“Grounding?”
“When I’m not holding onto you I feel like–like–” Natsume hugged himself. “-I’m being swallowed by…something."
---Natsume gets cursed by a yokai and struggles if he isn't physically touching someone. While Sensei goes to search for the way to fix it, Tanuma is there to help him cope with his temporary condition.
