Summary
It took Astarion nearly a century to save enough to get out, another decade to complete the rigorous screening and training process to be accepted into the Weave Institute’s Guardian Program.
The mission was simple. He would be the sole crew member on a small colony ship, watching over the colonists and crew while they were in cold sleep on a journey to a distant corner of the galaxy. The trip would be longer than the human lifespan. Elves were highly sought after as Guardians. Their naturally longer lifespan made them uniquely suited to shepherding sleepers on decades-long trips. The longer the trip the higher the pay.
He would be assisted by the ship's highly advanced AI program, his only companion on the long journey.

Summary
These days, most everybody in camp had learned to wave away Astarion’s advances with a laugh. They found the flirtation titillating, Gale figured, or a bit threatening, or some combination of the two. He wondered if anybody else found it sad.
--
Good old-fashioned rumination on choice and compulsion. Gale and Astarion shake off their metaphorical shackles. -

Summary
After defying a god, resisting her darkest urges, and saving the world, Juniper, once the Bhaalspawn known as the Dark Urge finds herself completely, terrifyingly free. With no home to return to and no memories of a life before the tadpole, she accepts Gale’s offer to stay in his tower in Waterdeep. When Astarion, now unable to walk in the sun, has nowhere to go, Juniper asks Gale if he can stay too.
Reluctantly, the three former allies become unlikely roommates: a haunted sorceress trying to rebuild her identity, a vampire cut off from daylight, and a wizard with a tower full of books and feelings he refuses to name.
As they research a way to bring sunlight back into Astarion’s life, old wounds resurface, new bonds form, and unspoken feelings begin to stir. Juniper thought saving the world was the hard part. But learning how to live in it might prove even harder.

Summary
Gale Dekarios is four years old, which is a very fine age for having important thoughts about magic and sandwiches. He lives in a rather small but very cozy house in Baldur’s Gate with his mother, Morena, and a tressym named Tara, whom he had summoned all by himself on a particularly curious afternoon.
One day, when the sun sat just right in the sky, and it was warm enough to wander, Gale decided it was an excellent day for a walk. But then, further along than he usually went, Gale found a new house. It was very big, with a tall stone wall all around it. The sort of wall that said someone important lives here. He found a small opening at the bottom of the house where some bricks had fallen out.
And in that opening, there was a room below, lit by a single lamp on the ceiling. A basement. And in the middle of the basement, cross-legged and perfectly still except for his hands, sat a little elf.
This was very curious to Gale, because there were no baby elves in Baldur’s Gate.

It will be fine, right??

The great Szarr palace. Home sweet home."
--
The villains are defeated. The heroes claim their victory. Astarion sinks down to exactly where he started. Gale plots his apotheosis. Somehow, they meet in the middle.

Summary
In all the storybooks Gale Dekarios read as a child, none of the great heroic romances ever ended in divorce. When he confessed his love to Adriana, under an aurora of his own making, he meant it for good. Sadly, it turns out, she did not. That’s why he prefers magic to people, people are too unpredictable. And none more so than the bloody vampire who’s just been sent to check on him…

“How did you even get in? I very definitely remember locking up.”
“Ah,” Gale looks ever-so-slightly abashed. Only slightly, though. Mostly he looks a little proud of himself. “You know how the receptionist is always asleep?”
Astarion's eyebrows shoot up.
“Gale Dekarios, you shady thing.”
“I only borrowed it! He's never been awake enough to ask about spares, so. It was easier to just sort it out myself.”
“It would have been easier to ask me,” Astarion points out.
“Mmmm,” Gale hums, doubtfully. “I don't know if I'd ever consider you the ‘easier’ option, Astarion, I feel that would be doing your commitment to cantankerousness a great disservice.”
I'd be extremely easy if you weren't so fucking annoying, Astarion thinks.

Summary
The decision to attend Waterdeep Comic Con during the Midwinter holiday had been intentional. Astarion had assumed that everyone – his overbearing (if well-meaning) friends, his manager, and his psychotic ex – would leave him alone so that he could work in peace. He’d been wrong. On the heels of one of the worst scandals of his acting career, Astarion Ancunin is saved by an unlikely hero: his driver.
⊹¤.•⨳•.*⊹¤.•⨳•.*⊹¤.•⨳•.*⊹¤.•⨳•.*⊹¤.•⨳•.*
The Driver hefted a set of black, leather gloves from atop his legs. His fingers were long and tanned. Astarion couldn’t help but watch as he donned them, giving the tight fabric a flex until the leather stretched over his knuckles. Then he tilted his head to the left, touching an ear to each of his shoulders, before pushing out his chest. His fitted suit strained against the motion, and Astarion heard a few joints pop.
“Do you happen to have your seatbelt on, sir?” the driver asked.
Astarion’s mouth, for some reason, watered.

Summary
Following a smidge of time-line fuckery, Gale meets a handsome stranger in the Yawning Portal - a stranger who seems to know far too much about him, to be far too invested in his life and his happiness, and to be far too attractive to let slip through his fingers.
The stranger also happens to be an incredibly welcome distraction from the otherwise miserable and confusing hellscape that is Gale Dekarios's personal life. His mother worries about him constantly, his familiar won't talk to him about anything that matters, his mentor won't tell him anything useful, and his goddess is making cryptic and increasing demands.
OR: Gale meets a handsome vampire in 1487 who seems deadset on making all his problems go away, with some strings attached.

Summary
Astarion had spent ten years perfecting his craft and he was good at it. A little wine here, a little lean there, a bat of the eye-lashes, and maybe getting on his knees in an alley, and they were his - love-struck, dumb, and compliant. They were ready to follow him 'home' - back to the palace. So what if he was wracked by guilt every waking second that he wasn't being tortured or abused? It got the job done and kept his master happy.
So why exactly was this stranger in a terribly ugly purple tunic sticking his oar in?
OR: Astarion meets a mysterious wizard in Elfsong Tavern in 1278 who promises to make all his problems go away, with no strings attached.

Gale has no reason to think that this new learner will be any different from the hundreds that have already climbed into his car.
After all, there isn't a person in the world that Gale Dekarios can't teach to drive. Until that is, he meets Astarion Szarr.

Summary
“There are better ways to go about this if I wish to speak to someone anonymously,” Gale points out. Shadowheart shrugs, winking at him.
“Sure, but this is possibly the most satisfying one,” she says, and fine, Gale can’t argue with that. But still. Such conversations are surface level at best, and transactional at worst. Besides, it’s not in his nature to consume live internet pornography. He has no desire to share such an intimate act with a complete stranger.
“I would really rather see a therapist,” he says.
Fresh out of a messy divorce, disgraced academic Gale Dekarios finds himself biting off more than he can chew when a seemingly innocuous encounter with an enigmatic camboy, Star, leads him down a precarious path of lies, liberation and eventually—love.
