Summary
A few days before he is due to return to work after the events of Martinaise, Harry Du Bois receives an unexpected offer to travel to Seol cité for a week to assist in research of the Pale. Skeptical at first, he is convinced by his captain's approval and the news that the researchers became interested in him after reading the article on him and the Insulindian Phasmid. Harry is even more excited when he manages to convince lieutenant Kim Kitsuragi, whose transfer schedule happens to match up with the trip, to go to the city with him.
Seol cité at first feels alien but hospitable. But soon uncomfortable histories, mistranslations, and Seol's own political unrest begin to unravel the detectives' lives. Will this trip, uncomplicated at first glance, kick into gear events that will change not only their relationship but the course of history of the city they left behind?
A dual-language fic about belief, love, and fear.

Lieutenant Kim Kitsuragi got into an accident the first day he arrived in Martinaise, fell into a coma for two more days, and then woke up without remembering a goddamn thing. Not ideal to say the least, especially when you have to solve a lynching with a man as obnoxious as Harry Du Bois.
