She looks at Catra expectantly, and after a pause, Catra lets out a long breath. “Fine, fine,” she says. “You’ve always been my favorite ghost, skeleton in the closet, whatever.” Adora frowns over at her. Catra shrugs, evidently unwilling to say anything else. Catra gives her another look that punctuates this, a look that says stop asking for more and Adora, folding her hands neatly, does as she's told.

They stay that way for a long time, Catra’s face tucked into Adora’s shoulder, Adora gently cradling Catra’s head. Adora is careful not to hug Catra too hard or make her feel restrained, anticipating the moment that Catra will start to pull away — but Catra doesn’t. She hangs on so tightly it hurts, her claws digging through Adora’s jacket and into her back, latching into her like she did when she was a kitten and didn’t know how much her claws could hurt. Adora tries not to wince, tries not to move a single muscle, worried that if she does the spell will break and Catra will struggle away, appalled at having shown weakness.
But Catra doesn’t let go. And so neither does Adora.

AU where Jon and Georgie are still friends, Georgie likes finding dates for her friends, Martin doesn't work at the institute, and everyone is just a bit happier while canon spooky stuff goes on in the background. Takes place juuust barely pre-canon in the beginning but catches up quickly. Inspired as usual by the wonderful conversations with my friend RavenXavier/somuchbetterthanthat.

This fic has filled me with so many emotions. Is it joy? Is it frustration with their CRIMINAL levels of misunderstanding? Is it anticipation? Is it pure elation THAT THESE FUCKERS FINALLY GOT THEIR SHIT TOGETHER??? Who know. Probably all of the above. But this fic has most definitely cleared my skin, watered.my crops, and held me in it's nasty little slow burning arms and tell me it's okay, Tim isn't a distraught asshole, Sasha is fine, AND JON AND MARTIN DON'T HAVE TO BE ALONE.
