This is why we don’t drink

Summary:

Eddie woke up to a large weight on his chest with the sun shining directly onto his face through the blinds. His bed felt different than normal. The mattress was stiffer and the pillows were hard, it wasn’t what he was used to. His back hurt, it felt like he was laying on top of something but he wasn’t sure what.

He flickered his eyes open letting them adjust to the sunlight. The first thing he noticed was the ceiling. It was a navy blue but his ceiling was white. The next thing he noticed was Buck.

Or: Eddie and Buck wake up in bed together the night after Chim’s bachelor party and try to retrace their steps to remember what happened.

Notes:

This is in a universe where Chimney was completely fine btw! Hope you guys like.

Chapter 1: Why does my chest feel so heavy?

Chapter Text

Eddie woke up to a large weight on his chest with the sun shining directly onto his face through the blinds. His bed felt different than normal. The mattress was stiffer and the pillows were hard, it wasn’t what he was used to. His back hurt, it felt like he was laying on top of something but he wasn’t sure what.

He flickered his eyes open letting them adjust to the sunlight. The first thing he noticed was the ceiling. It was a navy blue but his ceiling was white. The next thing he noticed was Buck.

Buck’s head lying on his chest as he lightly snored. His whole body was wrapped around Eddie. One arm under Eddie’s back while the other over his stomach. His left leg was hooked on Eddie’s waist. It couldn’t have been comfortable and yet Buck was deep in sleep. For a second Eddie took in the scene. He loved Buck, of course he loved Buck, how could anyone not love Buck? They’ve been through so much together whether they talked about it or not. It’s not everyday you experience a shooting, lighting strike, and a panic attack that lead to a wall getting bashed in. Not to mention the coparenting of Christopher together. But this was different, a new level of intimacy Eddie never thought they would reach. Once Eddie realized that he started to panic.

He was in bed with his best friend. He was in bed with his best friend. He didn’t have a shirt on and neither Buck but he had shorts on and so did Buck so that was something at least. They didn’t sleep together- or at least Eddie doesn’t have the memory of them sleeping together so he prays that they didn’t.

Eddie starts to stir trying not to wake up Buck, but of course that doesn’t work. Buck could sleep through a freight train passing by him but couldn’t sleep through Eddie sitting up. Buck started to open his eyes babbling on the dream that he had when he realized where he was- or really who he was on.

“Eddie?”

He stops his attempt to quietly get up, “Yeah?”

“What happened last night?” Buck asked.

“I have no idea”

They both quickly got out of bed avoiding eye contact with one another. They both only had boxers on while the rest of their clothes were scattered across the room. Eddie got changed in the bathroom while Buck quickly got dressed in the bedroom. They would talk eventually, find out what happened, but for now they would gladly avoid the elephant in the room like the plague.

When Eddie stepped out of the bathroom he tried his best to act normal- key word being tried. He fidgeted with his hands suddenly realizing he had no idea where to put them or what to do with them. Buck couldn’t help but laugh. He had never seen Eddie so flustered before.

“How much time do we have before the ceremony?” Eddie asked.

“About six hours. So I was thinking…”

“Oh great,” Eddie interrupted.

“I don’t know what happened last night . After leaving the bar everything is kinda a blur.”

“Yeah same”

“So I think we should retrace our steps. See if anything comes back”

For a moment Eddie thought about the idea. It wasn’t a bad one, in fact it would probably work. That’s what scared Eddie though. What if they did something last night. Their whole friendship would be ruined because Eddie decided to let his emotions finally take over. Or maybe nothing happened, maybe they came back from the bar and they were so tired they just passed out. Either way he needed to know and he knew Buck would end up going with or without him. He decided it was best for them to figure out what happened together.

“Fine, but you’re driving. I think I’m still drunk” Eddie said.
