Summary
Evan Buckley didn’t break bones the way other kids did. He learned that in eighth grade, when he fell off the roof of the gym during a dumb dare. Landed on the concrete. Hard. Everyone thought he’d shattered something. He got up. Winded. Bruised. No break. Not even a sprain. The nurse said he was lucky. Buck knew better.
He didn’t feel lucky. He felt wrong. Like there was a blueprint for how a person was supposed to work, and he’d been printed just slightly off-axis. Because it wasn’t the first time.
