Chapter Text

In the capital of the Lupugana. The undead were all over the streets and a certain black haired boy with his alies were fighting through them.

Subaru: Damn it….There are way to many of them..just why…Why the hell did these undead became so aggressive suddenly.

The undead have suddenly started to go fully out of control,  no longer bound by anything.

Sphinx: The plan seems to be going smoothly, I just have to wait now.

The undead near her suddenly started to react differently. Sphinx didn’t immediately realized the gravity of the situation. The undead started to move towards her and soon they attacked her which caught her off guard.

Sphinx: What the…!?

Sphinx couldn’t even finish her sentence and started to dodge them and using her magic only tom realize for some reason the magic had become way weak, abnormally weak. She didn’t sense much mana in the air and now her magic was heavily weakened.

Sphinx: what is happening?!?!

The undead soon surrounded  the place and in that moment Sphinx understood one thing clearly which is that the undead are no longer under her control and they are reacting under the influence of something else. They even lost the least basic intelligence they had when they were under her control. They have became feral animals.

Sphinx: I…I…… I have to run right now.

On the other hand Subaru for Started to transform to his original form. This happened safely because they were hiding in a tall place. Then Subaru Looked down to the screams.

Subaru: Oh.. oh god….. they are are eating them alive.. why is this thing happening, this was never supposed to happen.

The undead were ripping apart the peoples who came in front of them. They aere eating them alive. Subaru saw an undead after Al…no….they increased in number…..they kept increasing. Subaru then looked at the capital. Every corner of the street in this place was filled with these monsters. He saw the peoples on who were bitten to death and shredded apart have started to come back to life. Subaru realized that this thing is not limited to magic. Why? Because there is no mana or death energy in them. Beatrice was besides him..crying because she was scared of these things that tried to bite her. She has also witnessed How they eat peoples alive while they scream. She was bawling her eyes out because they were getting surrounded Slowly by these Undead slowly.

Beatrice: Crying…. Subaru what will we do now…. We are getting completely surrounded. Will betty die like those humans who sniff…sniff  will betty be eaten like them..sniff…sniff.

His contracted spirits words felt like needle piercing in his heart. He was now fully back to his original self….The real Natsuki Suabru who adored and cherished his Beako.

Subaru: Beako…..no…I will never ever will let those things near you and I promise it with my life.

Beatrice: Whipering…Betty…sniffs.. betty was supposed to protect you I suppose…Sniffs.. not the other way around, in fact…

Subaru: It is all right beako…..you can lean on me. I will save you from this place.

Beatrice: whimpers…..betty is sorry, betty is sorry I suppose. Betty is useless right now, in fact. Betty can’t feels any mana in the air and all magic around us has suddenly been weakened heavily, the undead are also not releasing death energy…they don’t even have any signs of magic left on them, in fact.

Subaru takes her in his arms and then Beatrice stops a little.

Suabru: Beako…are you saying they don’t have any….even the slightest sign of magic left?

Beatrice: Yes I suppose…

Some distance away from Them. A knight, A badly injured wolf, a traumatized half-elf, a greedy girl and some normal peoples were fighting and running away from the swarms of the undead. Half-elf was way too scared and traumatized to fight. She and the greedy girl have seen how their alies were ripped by these undead and how they fought over to get a piece of the flesh all while they were alive and screaming for help.

Emilia: Whimpers….. I couldn’t save the, I couldn’t save the, I couldn’t save the, I couldn’t save the, I couldn’t save the, I couldn’t save the….. I never could HAVE SAVE THEM!!!!

WHY JUST WHYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!

She started screaming and crying because she couldn’t save them…….didn’t save them. Even though she knew they were beyond saving and to top it off she suddenly couldn’t use her magic. She had  to flee with all the rest.

Halibel:…….agh…..aghhh……

Julius: Halibel what’s wrong?

Halibel: Nothin’…….keep runnin’…

Julius: we have to run faster. I don’t think we can save all the peoples here.

Halibel: Stop yappin’ ‘n run.

Anastasia who was being carried by Julius was still unable to say any words  after what she  had witnessed. She is now scared because she noticed that these uneads are catching up while they were getting slow because they were running and protecting these peoples. Some has even tripped and fallen…..and died. Anastasia knew at this rate none of them will survive. She was now afraid she will met the same fate as those victims of these undead that she saw.

Anatstasia: Julius we ain’ surviving like this, we can’ pick up anyone who falls from on.

Julius: My lady we can’t jus-AGHHHH!!!

Julius got hit in his legs by a spear on the ground. The spear had torn his left legs calve. His muscles was torn and he has started to bleed rapidly. The undead were also getting closer.

Anastasia: JULIUS!!!!!!!

Julius: My lady..cough..cough…please….. run away…I am not in a condition to take you and run…my spirits magic has also been weaken by a large margin……please go…go without me.

Anastasia: SHUT UP!!! I AIN’T GOIN’ ANYWERE WITHOU’ YA!!!!

Julius: No my lady……you must continue without me…

Anastasia: NOO!!! JUS’ NOO!!!....sob… I ain’ leavin’ without my knight. Emilia-san, Halibel please help. Hey you peoples help me get this man on his feet.

Emilia: Julius-san you are bleeding heavily.

Anastasia rips a piece of her dress and binds Julius.

Anastasia: WHY  ARE YA PEOPLES STILL STANDIN’!!!!!!!!

The peoples they had save until now were not looking at them like they were their saviors but as dead weights. Then a women with a child whom Julius saved with the risk of getting bitten spoked

Carol: Why should we help you right now of all the times. My kid is crying and  scared and those monsters are getting clos……

The undead have caught up to them. The peoples instead of helping the ones that saved them started running. There were some strong men among  them who could have helped Julius get up and run with them but they didn’t. They ran away leaving them to fend for themselves.

Emilia: huh?.....why did they…? 

Anastasia: Emilia-san… I think ya  Should get goin’…..

Julius: My lady…

Emilia: No I won’t be leaving you guys alone.

Anastasia: Listen Emilia-san, this gal is really gready ‘n she ain’t leavin’ without her knight.

Emilia: But-

Anastasia: No buts….also your knight must be waitin’ for ya.

Emilia:…….

Halibel has now finished killing The small hoard of these undead. He was at his limit. His veins have started to turn dark.

Halibel: The big pack is comin’ soon…..Emilia-san…can ya carry Julius?

Emilia: yes but Our speed will be slow and—

Halibel: That’s all I needed to hear…..I already am finished…..I can feel it….I’m dyin’….I will turn like ‘em.

Emilia: What…..what will you do..?

Emilia has now picked up Julius on her back. Anastasia  understood what Halibel meant.

Anastasia: Emilia-san…..don’cha dare to look back…..keep runnin’ forward ok.

Emilia: halibel-san—

Halibel: Been nice knowin’ ya Emilia-san.

With that Halibel the admirer, the strongest wolfsperson in Kararagi charged ahead towards the hoard of the undead. While Anastasia forced Emilia not to look back. Emilia now knows what the wolfsperson meant. With heavy heart they started  to run. After running for a while they saw Rem and Spica fighting some undead While Roswaal was leaning on Ram who was also bleeding from her forehead.

Rem: Emilia-sama! hurry help my sister!

Emilia was stunned for a moment and then she got hit with all the memories of rem.

Emilia: REM!!!what is happening here? Do you have any ideas?

Rem: rem doesn’t know anything, right now the only thing rem know is the rem’s hero Subaru-kun might be in danger and Rem have to find her hero.

Emilia: Subaru……oh Rem can you heal Julius?

Rem: Rem can’t because the amount of in the air the has become next to none.

Anastasia: Damn it. Maid  take your sister and the margrave and start runnin’ with us.

Emilia: how can Rem carry two peoples?

Ram: N-No need f-for it E-Emilia-sama..

Rem: Sissy!

Ram: I am really happy that I finally got to remember you Rem.

Julius: The hoard behind us is getting close.

Emilia: Right! Rem, Ram hurry and run.

The twin maids sisters nodded and started to run with them. The first goal of Emilia and Rem was to find Subaru.

At the tall building Suabru, Beatrice, Cecilius and Priscillia Barielle were hiding. The  arrogant girl who thought the world was under her feet  was no longer there, instead a girl who got to know how things work in reality remained. She too was traumatized. Especially after  her brother Vincent Vollachia died in front of her. They teared the flesh around his face and chest in front of her. He kept screaming for help which never came. She was now in a building which is in front of where her brother was being eaten alive.

 She felt like she would vomit. If Subaru didn’t took her hand and dragged her here she would have joined her brother. While they were here Priscillia heard how her brother continued to scream. She saw through a window how the undead had ripped his body into big pieces and how they ate him infront of her. Even while he was ripped in half with no limb, he still continued to scream until an undead bites his windpipe and rips it out. Vincent was looking at Priscillia at that moment and Priscillia could just tell it by his look….the last look he ever gave her.

Priscillia:……….Common…..no…Subaru what will we do right now?

Her voice was cracking when she said this sentence.

Subaru:…we will get out right now. Priscillia do you know this places layout?

Priscillia:…..yes

Cecilus: Bassu…..I…..I think I have high fever…..my body is burning.

Subaru: Hang in there ok, we will get…..Ceci….did any of those undead had bit you?

Cecilus: Yes bossu…..several of them bit because I was caught off guard…..why are you asking?

Suabru: Trembling……Ceci…..oh no. Ceci…..did you felt like this before you were bitten?

Cecilus: No bassu…but why are you asking?

Subaru: Ceci…..I think you have been infected…..you will turn like them because of this

Hearing this Cecilus understood what was happening to him right now

Cecilus: Bassu….will I turn like them….I..I don’t want to become like them. I really don’t want to.

Cecilus Segmut, The strongest swordsmen of Vollachia was scared. Not because he will die but he will become something like that and will be enduring this pain that is starting to rise from his bite marks towards his head.

Subaru: This should have never happened. Idon’t even know where Emilia and rem are. Doesn’t matter I have to reset. I still have this knife with me. But….what if  that doesn’t work….my authorities greed and sloth are not working right now.

Priscillia what are you thinking?

Cecilus: Bassu…..I am going down ok….I won’t survive anyways.

Suabru: What! noo!!! You are not going down there ok.

Beatrice: Subaru why are you screaming, I suppose?

Beatrice who was in the next room have come to the room where Subaru had come to talk to those two. Beatrice still has those red and puffed eyes after crying. She is still in terror. She also got some glimpse of how Vincent Vollachia was eaten alive while he screamed for help and how all their allies who came with them got eaten She will never forget those screams.

Subaru: Ceci no means no. You can’t just go there and sacrifice yourself for us without even knowing if you really will become like one of those undead.

Cecilus: Bassu….look at me…just….look at me.

Cecilus had black veins forming on his face which were now completely visible to the naked eyes

Subaru: It doesn’t proves that you will become like them.

Priscillia: look out the window…..

Subaru: What? What is happening our there?

Priscillia: Look for yourself:

Suabru:…..the…deads are—

Cecilus: Coming back to life….yes they are. They were also bitten. I will also become like them. Bassu they are now increasing in number. You should get out now. If you can’t get out of here now then you might never will.

Beatrice: Suabru…….what is he talking about?.....what is he saying about the increasing in number and we might never leave this place?....Sobs….Wha….what does he mean?

Subaru instantly threw his arms on her and tightly hugged her to his chest.

Subaru: As long as I am breathing nothing will ever happen to you.

Priscillia: If you are done then can you tell what do we do right now.

Priscillia was still not in her right mind and was scared but mostly terrorized, in fact.

Cecilus: ok I am going dow—COUGH..COUGH..COUGH!!!!!

Cecilus started to cough violently and blackened blood was coming out each time.

Subaru: CECILUS!!!

The undead heard this noise and started to search for it’s source.

Cecilus: Bassu…I will not be living long and I know that. I atleast don’t want to turn like them. Please let me be of help…for the last time.

Suabru:……

Priscillia: Oh no, they are coming here. You screamed and now they are coming here!

Suabru:..All right…..my friend…..

Suabru came down with Beatrice and Priscillia while Cecilus started to sewing his sword for the last time. Subaru kept apologizing while running for his life.

Priscillia: We have to find Aldebaran.

Suabru: I saw undead chasing him…dozens of them.

Priscillia:………then we first have to get out of this place and then we will look for him.

Subaru: No, I have to find Emilia and Rem and the others. I donm’ even know what happened to medium is or the others.

Beatrice: Subaru look Emilia is there I suppose!

Subaru: Where?

Subaru stopped mid running as well as Priscillia. Subaru looked at his left and spotted the silver haired half-elf.

Suabru: Emilia!!!

Emilia who was still carrying Julius heard him and also stopped running.

Emilia: Suabru?...SUABRU!!!

Rem: SUBARU-KUN!

Spica: UAAA!!!!

Subaru found them and finally he reunited with them in this hell

Suabru: Emilia-tan, Rem, Spica, nee-sama.

Rem and Spica was hugging Subaru while Emilia couldn’t since she was carrying Julius on her back.

Suabru: No time for sob momments, we have run.

The undead have now surrounded them completely because they stopped for a few moment. They were now running and dodging these flesh eating monsters. Subaru saw an axe stuck in a mans head which he yanked out and started to clear the road ahead. Subaru was high on adrenaline. He was swinging his axe and chopping off heads of these undead. Priscillia tripped and fell because of her dress. Her whole life flashed before her eyes because three undead are now close to her and about to sink in their teeth on her flesh. She couldn’t even move out of terror because she kept remembering what happened to her brother.

Right when she thought she was about to become their prey Subaru came charging with the axe and in one strong and accurate swing he chopped all three of the undead heads off.

Subaru: PRISCILLIA!!! GET UP AND RUNN!!!

Priscillia snaped back to reality and started to run only to trip again but since Suabru was behind her he caught and gave Beatrice to her to hold while he holds her with one hand and the axe with the other. Priscillia tightly grabs Beatrice while also griping her hands on Subaru. Rem killed some undead who were after him to give Subaru time to speed up.

They cleared their way till they reached safety. They were now in a high ground where the roads were blocked by the half-elf who blocked it with the carriages. Emilia even put down Julius with Ram and Anastasia to go and help Subaru since he fell behind them.

 She saved Subaru while almost getting bitten. But Subaru still had some energy left in him so he swung his axe and splits it’s head in half. Priscillia then stated to run on her own feet while carrying Beatrice because Subaru was princess carried by Emilia. They didn’t stop till they reached that high ground that Emilia barricaded.

Emilia: Crying…Subaru! I was so worried. Why is this thing happening? Can you tell me Why? These undead have started to eat peoples alive and..and…sob…so many peoples died in front me. I was so worried about you. I was afraid something might have happened to you…Crying…

Subaru then kisses her forehead and hugs her while she was crying and visibly shaking.

Subaru: Shh..it’s okay...I am here. Your knight is here Emilia-tan.

Rem: Su..Subaru-kun….Rem..sobs..Rem is sorry. Rem has hurt you…her hero…Rem…Rem has tried to even ki-kill you…sobs…please forgi—

Before she could even finish her sentence Subaru hugged and kissed her like there is no tomorrow.

Subaru: Rem is that you. Is that you you?

Rem: ...Crying softly… Yes Subaru-kun this is me me.

Beatrice: Betty’s Subaru is happy with the two women he loves, I suppose.

Spica: Uaa?

Beatrice: oh it is not a thing I need to explain to you ok, I suppose.

Spica: Uaaa! Uaaa!

Beatrice: Yes…they are really happy right now, In fact.

Meanwhile Anastasia was treating Julius. His leg would have been permanently damaged if it hadn’t been treated in time. Julius have now gone to sleep and she also felt sleepy so she also went to sleep besides him. Ram has nursed Roswaal back to stability.

Subaru now goes to the balcony thinking of Otto and Garfield and all his other allies. Emilia also joins him in the balcony.

Emilia: Subaru….look at the city..

Subaru: Yes …the city is on fire but can’t even spread because of how much blood is on the streets…in the houses…

Infront of Subaru he sees the Capital…..Lupugana…..Burning. The screams of the surviving peoples who were now being caught and eaten by the undead are now echoing through out the city.

Subaru: This no battle or attack of these undead…..Emilia..you seeing this?

Emilia: Yes…

Subaru: This is a threat to this whole world. Peoples who get bitten turns into these undead…even when they die they come back to life…they are chewing one anyone who is not one of them…even if they are dead….this…this……….THIS IS THE APOCALYPSE.

In the middle of the night. In an alleyway a group of civilians were being led by a young tiger and a merchant.

Otto: Garfiel is the road ahead clear?

Garfield: Yeah y’all can come.

The duo started to lead the civilians through the bloody road. They were in luck since there were no undead here. They now wanted to find the rest of their camp members and escape from this hellhole.

Leona: Hey why are you peoples not going to there? That road leads outside of this city.

Otto: No ma’am we cannot leave our friends behind. We still have to find our friends.

Carol: What are you even thinking? Do you really think your friends might even be alive in this situation?

Garfield: Wha’ do ya even know bou’ ma cap’n? Shut ya mouth lady I ain’t in the mood fo’ this nonsense.

Carol: Tsk—then you can go and die. I am taking my kid and getting out.

With this all the members of the go and die. I am taking my kid and getting out.

After what she said, every member of the group that they were leading started to go down the road that leads out side of this city.

Garfield: Wha’ tha?.... You cowards. Why are y’all leavin’ like this?

Carol: Sometimes being a coward means surviving.

Otto: But that doesn’t mean you should leave us like this. We were supposed to stick together.

Joe: But we agreed to do so when we have the chance of surviving, not when we will be going on a suicide mission for some pricks that who already might be dead.

Garfield: Ya son’ova bit—

Then he got interrupted by Otto

Otto: No Garfiel….let them go…let these ungrateful flock of birds go where ever they want go.

Joe: Why you little prick! Do you think just because we are following you, we are weak or something!

After Joe Said those words louder then they were supposed to talk, the undead started to move toward them. Rattling and running through the streets they started to search for the source.

Garfield: YA MOTHER FUCKER! DO YA THINK MINE AMAZIN’ SELF IS GONNA LET YA GO EVERY TIME!

Otto: Garfiel! Stop!

Before things could get any further the undead reached them and immediately attacked the first few unlucky peoples who were the nearest the alley way that they came through. The undead bit and ripped their flesh while they were walling in agony. Soon the other undead also started to approach them. Seeing this the ungrateful group of survivors ran through the road leading outside of the city while Garfield and Otto ran through another alley way to shake off these undead.

Otto: DAMN IT! WHY DID YOU CAUSE SUCH RUCKUS!!!!

Garfield: MINE AMAZIN’ SELF DIDN’ KNOW THESE MONSTERS WERE THIS CLOSE TO US!

Otto: KEEP RUNNING!!!!

Garfield killed any undead that came his way while Otto was running and thinking why he can’t sense any mana and why his magic isn’t working and why on earth his divine protection which was granted by the world suddenly got taken away like it never had been there.

Garfield: OTTOBRO!!! WHA’ SHOULD WE DO NOW!!!

Otto: PLEASE GARFIEL!!! STOP SCREAMING YOU ARE ATTRACTING MORE OF THEM!

Dozens of undead starts to fall on the since they were still running through low ground and these undead were falling on them from house and higher grounds.

Otto: Garfiel! We have to move to higher ground or we will be killed at this rate.

Garfield: Understood.

They both started to fought their way up but without any form of magic or divine protection they had to rely purely on raw strength. They were running through the streets while debris from the burnt houses started falling. It was because the hoard of undead were now moving aggressively towards only two targets. Some sharp debris had fallen on them but they kept running. They knew that if they stop then they would never be able to run again. Otto was basically alive only because of Garfield.

Garfield had gotten hit by a few big spikes of those debris on his shoulder and his back because he was saving Otto from getting hit. Now even Garfield realized that his divine protection of the earth spirits wasn’t there. It just disappeared as the mana in the air today.

Garfield: Ottobro ma divine protection of earth spirits is…….is gone…..MA DIVINE PROTECTION IS GONE!!!!! HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!?!

Otto: STOP SCREAMING! Even my divine protection is gone….just like yours.

Garfield…….fuck.

Otto: Garfiel! Can you take us to that house with the statues?

Garfield: Mine Amazin’ sure can do.

With That Garfield took Otto and started to run as fast as he could. Garfield was holding back his speed because Otto fully relied on him at this situation and without him sticking with him, he would definitely die. Now that he was carrying Otto, he could run as fast as he can.

After a few moments they reached the house and quickly barricaded the doors with any thing that came in front of their eyes.

Meanwhile the place where Subaru was staying became finally quiet. Subaru after witnessing all this became aware that this world might be fucked up. He still remembers that when he tried to use hi authorities they didn’t work. When he was safe, the world around him was safe, when he had all the time in the world, none of the women he loved was sleeping or was clinging to him or was saying how much they loved him….well except for Emilia.

 But he figured out she does love him since she was the one who was kissing his first. She was crying like he never have seen her. Both she and Rem as well as Beatrice were clinging and crying as hard as they can while they have the chance to do it. They were now sound asleep. Subaru started to wish these things happened when he was still in the mansion where he and everyone he loves were safe, not in a place or time like this.

Subaru: I hope I will be able to protect you smiles, I hope to save you all from this hell.

Subaru saw them under the flickering light of the moon that was coming through the window.                            Emilia and Rem were sleeping after all the exhaustion. Both Emilia and rem wee sleeping by resting their head on each side of Subarus chest. They were clinging to him like he was their safe space. Their soft breaths proved to Subaru that they were feeling safe with him. Beatrice was actually sleeping on top of his chest. The small thing was the most scared today in it’s entire existence as well as Emilia and Rem. Subaru remembered how they were franticly trying to calm themselves from this trauma. Yes they are scared for life, especially Emilia. Subaru now started to drift into sleep.

Subaru: umm..?......rise and shine everyone.

Everyone woke up and were processing another thing. What are they supposed to eat?

Emilia: Ram did you find anything?

Ram: No Emilia-sama. There doesn’t seem to be any food in this kitchen.

Subaru:…..Oh shit….OH SHIT!

Rem: Subaru-kun are you really that hungry? If so, then Rem will go out to find something for you to eat.

Subaru: HELL NOOO! Rem do you take me for some gluttonous bastard who will through out the girl he loves for some scrap food? I am not screaming like this because I am hungry. But because we do not have food here for anyone. Not only that but there might not be any food in this whole city right now.

Priscillia:….right.

Emilia: I do not quite understand what’s happening but since Subaru is worrying about it then it must be a grave matter.

Subaru: Yes Emilia….it is big matter……Nee-sama is Roswaal able to walk?

Ram: Yes Barusu.

Subaru: Where is Julius and Anastesia-san?

Julius: Over here.

Subaru: All right! Your leg is looking good ey.

Julius: Yes it  does.

Subaru: Everybody listen we have to get moving right now since there is no food supplies here. Waiting here is the same as waiting for death to come and knock on our door.

Priscillia: Common—Subaru…..there are trees from which we can get fruits from.

Priscillia was still traumatized by the scene which she had witnessed yesterday. Her brother, Vincent Vollachia Was eaten alive in front of her and she couldn’t do anything. That horrible scene kept playing in her head. She couldn’t even sleep well. She was also thinking about what happened to Al. Nevertheless, the once radiating sun was now nothing but a scared and helpless girl. She lost all her self confidence the moment when his brother got eaten while still hoping that she could save him. Her blood becomes every time she remembers that her brother died while staring at her. Now she didn’t even consider herself the most superior being in this world.

Subaru: That’s not he point Priscillia. The point is we will get surrounded by these undead today or tomorrow. We are not safe until we get out of this place. This place is providing only temp—

Subaru gets interrupted by the screams outside and they feel familiar too. Subaru goes to the window to check and saw Garfield and Otto being chased by around 50 undead. He also notices Garfield was being carried by Otto with great effort. They won’t last much longer. Seeing this Subaru as the only operational male member of the three camp took his axe that he found the other day and went out through a gap in the house. The other members were no removing the barricade so that they can take them in swiftly.

Subaru: OTTO!!! COME HERE!!!

Otto: NATSUKI-SAN!!!

Subaru: Otto quickly go to that house. I will be holding off these undead.

Otto went to the house carrying Garfield. The half-elf, the twin oni’s and the Sun princess were franticly removing the barricades.

Subaru swung his axe through the first two undead heads clean and neatly. He dodged and swung his axe fast and precisely. An undead tried to bite his shoulder which he quickly blocked with the axe. He shaken it off and cut it’s head in half. He started to swing his axe at high speed with a pattern where he did both offence and defense. He systematically attacked 12 undead that charged ahead to devour him alive. Subaru was having adrenaline rush, which kept him full of power to fight these undead. An undead Suddenly overpowered him and pushed him toward a wall. The handle of the axe was what the undead was biting and soon if he didn’t get himself free he neck or face will be the next thing that it will bite. Then the hoard started to move toward him, they pressure was getting way too much for Subaru to handle.

 He as sure his Return By Death will not work since his sloth and greed authorities were not working. Subaru was sure he will be eaten and die a really agonizing death which might be even worse than the time he died to the rabbits.

Suddenly a maid with scary teeth came rushing and railed several undead which were getting on Subaru.

Subaru: MOTHERFUCKERS!!! I WILL NOT DIE!!!.

Saying this Subaru went full berserk. He was really high on adrenalin at this point. He beheaded few undead with one swing of his axe. At this time a n orange haired small girl had also ran towards Subaru.

Subaru: Petra is that you!

Petra: Subaru-sama!

Subaru: Frederica-san! Thanks you for saving me!

Frederica: You can thank me later Subaru-sama!

Subaru: Ok. Then let’s get inside the house!

The barricade was finally removed. Otto and Garfield went in first followed by Subaru, Frederica and Petra.

Subaru: Shut the DOOOR!!!!

Saying this Subaru with all his strength closed the door and started to hold it While they once again barricade the door.

After Some time…

Frederica: Thank you very much Subaru-sama for saving my brother.

Subaru: I should be the one thanking you. If you didn’t come at that time and railed those undead I would have become their meal for today.

Emilia/rem/Beatrice: Nooo!

Emilia: Don’t say it like that Subaru!

Meanwhile the purple haired knight was thinking of how to get his lady out of this mess at any cost.

Otto and Garfield told everyone about what happened and how a group of peoples which they saved abandoned them. Hearing this Emilia got a rough idea whom Otto might be talking about. They were chatting but their time to rest was over. The door broke because of the sheer pressure which was created by these undead. They were now crossing the furniture that was in their way.

Subaru hurriedly told everyone to leave this house fast via the roof. Subaru tild Roswaal to help Otto carry Garfield. Julius was the first to run away with Anastasia.

Anastasia: Julius! I still have ma scarf in tha’ room. I need it at ‘ne cost!

Julius understood why she was wanting her scarf. He then went back to the house. Almost everyone except Emilia, Rem and Subaru were in the house killing everything that moves. Subaru told Rem to go first and she hesitated but obliged Subarus command. After sometimes they were going up too. Julius who came to get his lieges scarf back saw them coming and they saw him too. Julius also saw the hoard. There were a lot of them. Julius then ran as fast as he could with his injured leg.

Julius: If I leave the door open then we will be doomed for sure. I even have to get my brother back too. I can’t let those things in. I even got my name back just after all thee started. My brother also must have gotten out of gluttonies authority. I can’t through my and Anastasia-sama’s life away for just for these two!!!

Subaru and Emilia were running towards the door and Julius seeing the hoard behind them instantly knew taking them in also meant taking all those undead in too. So he shut and locked the door with an iron rod beside the door. Subaru and Emilia Started screaming.

Subaru: JULIUSSSS!!!!!!!

Emilia: Julius-san! Please open the door!

Subaru: Waw waw waw waw MOTHERFAKIR!!!!!!!!

In a few seconds the undead caught them but Subaru used his axe to make some space. In that moment he took a gamble and grabbed Emilia tight and started to run through them while clearing the way with his axe. Subaru ran in a way so that even if someone were to be bitten then it would be him.

Outside Julius returned to Anastasia and returned her scarf. Rem and Beatrice started to question him that where was Subaru.

Julius: They…..they didn’t make it…. they got caught and the undead started to devour them alive…..they most definitely didn’t survive.

Rem……eh?...

Bearice: …crying uncontrollably…NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!  WHY?!?! WHY?!?! WHYYYYY?!!?!???!....crying uncontrollably…WHY DID YOU LEAVE BETTY!!!! YOU PROMISED!!! YOU PROMISED TO BE WITH BETTYTILL THE END!!!!...crying uncontrollably…

Rem couldn’t take it anymore and fainted. Her whole mind went blank and then the emotional agony she felt was indescribable. Ram still had the synthesis and understood just how much her sister was suffering.

Ram and Frederica were really shocked. Ram was barely holding it together because she needed to be strong right now to support everyone. Otto fell on his knees hearing this news. His eyes were shaking. Tears came out and he started to mourn him along with everyone else. Julius could feel that his heart was pounding. He was scared at first if they would even believe him. But they did and now he was safe, no one have suspected his lie.

Roswaal: So…..it has come to this….looks I have failed. Teacher…forgive me…I have failed but I won’t give up. I…also am sorry Subaru-kun.

Roswaal now had a crucial detail with this. Not only divine protections but authorities were also useless now. Little did he know that Subaru was alive and Subaru himself wasn’t sure

Subaru: Grunts...Emilia! get that almirah down! Hurry!

Emilia brings pushed the almirah in a way that it blocks the door. They have got almost all heavy things they could find blocking the door. Still the barricade they made before was bigger than this one so they were also holding the door. Subaru knew that if they let go of the door then it will break under the pressure of the undead and in that case he prays that Return By Death works….it might not work since his other authorities were also not working. They were doing their best and a shrieking screams came from outside. A group of survivors were caught by these undead. The undead at the door also ran outside to dig into those unlucky survivors.

This scream also heard by the members of the camp. They mistook it for Subaru and Emilia’s scream. Beatrice started to pull her hair and crying louder and louder. Rem had come back to her senses just after hearing those screams she started to bang her head on the floor to stop these noises. Ram couldn’t hold it any longer and starts to cry and she also stops her sister from doing any further damage to herself.

Roswaal: Julius-kun  didn’t you say that Subaru-kun and Emilia-sama died in front of—

Julius: I said they were being eaten by them. Didn’t say they died in front of me. Also there might be a chance they might have gotten slipped through them but still they were caught and this happened.

The screams were still somewhat echoing into their ears. Garfield and Petra were asleep. Garfield was from injury and exhaustion while Petra from crying way to much for what she can handle and fainted.

Priscillia: Mine self will never forget you Natsuki Subaru…..you had saved my life time to time….Mine self truly is sorry because I couldn’t do anything….I am sorry…

After sometimes they were walking through roof to roof until Rem and Beatrice once again had a meltdown.

Anastasia: Julius.

Julius: Yes, Anastasia-sama.

Anastasia: Why didn’t any undead come through tha’ door after ya came t’ us?

Julius…..I locked it so that none of those undead can come through.

Anastasia: Did they ask fo’ help?

Julius: Before they could they were caught.

Anastasia:….was there any chance they could have been saved? Tell me tha truth.

Julius:….. I closed the door so the undead could be busy eating them while we escape safely. We would have if I let them in. The undead would have followed and that door surely couldn’t have withstood that much pressure until it breaks…..I left them their so I and my liege can have time to escape safely.

Anastasia: Julius….we could have outrun the undead….why di—

Julius: Anastasia-sama may I remind you that we are at the roof houses. Where do you see a place to outrun them. I did it so that the undead would be busy eating them while we could see which roof to go from ours one.

Anastasia: Didn’t you see how the victims of these undead dies?

Julius: Yes I have seen how horribly they die and that’s why I decided that they can die while we can live. Just think about it Anastasia-sama, we have Mimi, Tivey, Hetaro and Ricardo waiting for us. Seriously Julius, these peoples the Former Emilia camp are so stupid and easy to manipulate.

In the night when the city was once again quiet Subaru and Emilia came out of that room. Subaru was thirsty and hungry as well as exhausted. Emilia was also becoming tired. Subaru came out just so he can get the fruits that Priscillia was talking about. He was certain that he will die of hunger or thirst if he didn’t take the risk. Subaru told Emilia to keep watch while he goes around the place.

 Since they were in ahigh ground place of the riches there will be trees here for sure is what Subaru thought. Just after he came out of the house he spotted some pear trees. Subaru went and took as much as he could. They then had replenished their energy with that. Subaru was utterly shocked by what Julius had done. But after thinking for a bit he understood why he did it. He wanted to use them as the scape goat. He wanted them to be devoured by these undead while he gets time to think of the escape route to save Anastasia. In truth if it was Subaru in his place then he would have never done something like this…..no…..he might have done the same thing.

Subaru: I will kill that that motherfucker without any question asked. He doesn’t have any mana or shit to save his ass this time. He thinks that I am still that bratty kid who he faced back then….no…..I am stronger than before.

Emilia: Subaru…can you tell me why…Why does everyone betray me?…sobs..I am not a bad girl the why…sobs…why does everyone betray me?..

Her voice chimed like the same silver bells as before.

Subaru: Don’t worry I will never betray you Emilia…never… because I am your knight…

Emilia: No….because you are my Subaru…the only one who loves me...crying softly ….the only one who ever truly without ever judging me…loved me...the silver haired half-elf….Emilia…crying softly…now I can say it…without regret that…Natsuki Subaru…smiling tearfully… I love you……………..

Subaru was crying of joy. The girl he bleed for, died for, cried for has finally discovered her true feelings for him. This was a bad day until this happened. Emilia’s confession has removed all the fatigue in Subaru’s mind and soul. He buried his face in Emilia’s chest and cried. Emilia too was crying…bit she didn’t want it to happen like this. She have somehow managed to say it. But she did.

Subaru on the other hand became even more determined to protect his family. He will protect them all even if it costs his life. With this iron forged will Subaru took Emilia’s hand and got out of that house once again…but this time he came out to escape this place after he finds his friends, his Rem and his Beako.

Chapter Text

It is 3rd day of the Apocalypse. Everyone is now thinking how to get out of this hell since the longer they stay the higher their chances of dying increase. Julius was now the one leading the group. Everyone here has the will to survive except Rem and Beatrice. Spica was still sticking to rem. She also wasn’t feeling good either. Garfield was a walking corpse right now because he blamed himself for Emilia and Subaru’s death since he was the shield of the camp.

Rem: ….? What is it Spica?....

Ram: Looks like she is hungry?

Rem:…oh….I am sorry Spica….but we don’t have anything on us right now…

Priscillia: Cecilus?....

They all look in front of them and saw Cecilus. He was now an undead, his legs were missing because they were eaten by the undead, half of his face was gone and his bones and tooth were visible to the naked eye, his whole body had bite marks all over him, chunks of flesh were missing from his body. He was crawling towards them slowly while growling like the other undead.

Roswaal: Even Suc~h a warrior of  Vollachia fe~ll victim to these unde~ad.

Priscillia:…..would any of you mind ending his sufferings?

Garfield swiftly hit the poor young boys head and ended his sufferings.

Garfield: Let’s keep movin’…

The group started to go down the road where the undead were not to be seen anywhere. They were also getting weak until they found some Pear trees. They took the fruits ate it and started to rest until they fully replenish their energy.

Meanwhile Subaru was running with Emilia Through the streets because they just heard Medium O’Connell screaming. Subaru reached the and saw Yorna, medium, Tanza barely holding their own against the Undead. He ran with all his might and sliced the head of the undead that was attacking Medium then Subaru accurately chopped each and every one of the undead head. He went into the hoard and Just like how Wilheilm’s attack against the White whale was described as a dance by Subaru, his attack too was the same. Since Subaru was the only one who had ever watched Zombie movies and known how to kill them, he was practically the same as the sword demon in front of these undead. Subaru had the most knowledge on these things so he took full advantage of it. Soon Subaru Killed 23 undead in that area.

Subaru: Huff..huff.huff..fuck..huff..are you…huff…all right?

Medium: SUABRU-CHIN!!!!!

Yorna: Child?

Medium and Tanza were tightly hugging Subaru. They really thought they were going to die.

Tanza: Waaaah! Schwartz-Sama! I really thought I will die!

Subaru: OK! OK! Stop with the crying.

Medium:….sobs…Su-Subaru-chin…sobs…Mi-Mizelda…sobs..

Subaru understood what she was trying to say and hugged her back. The small dear human was clinging to Subaru in a way which reminded him of his Beako and Spica.

Subaru: Yorna-san…we should start moving…

Yorna:….I agree…we don’t have much time…these monsters are all around us

Emilia: Subaru I think I hear them coming!

Subaru then pick up Tanza starts to run towards the exit road. They soon reached a place where undead were at a large number. There were hundreds if not thousands of undead there. They covered their mouths so no noise comes out. Subaru knew if this hoard starts chasing them they will for sure be doomed. Subaru also starts to wonder where is that dragon that  was terrorizing them in the battle. That shit really did scared Subaru. Subaru safely led them across the street via alley ways.

Subaru was at a place from where he could see all of the surrounding as well as the safe exit. Subaru knew with Priscillia’s help they will try to escape using this route so he was now waiting. Emilia was telling them how Julius had abandoned them. They got furious by this.

Emilia: I never thought Julius was ever like this.

Medium: I will skin him alive for what he did to Subaru-chin.

Emilia also told all the things Subaru told her up until now. She told them about Halibel, Cecilus and also Vincent.

Yorna: So….Vincent Vollachia died?

Subaru: Yes. He died in front of us. We couldn’t do anything about it except watch.

Yorna: Emilia also told me that you saved Prisca.

Subaru: I had to do it since her survival instinct became zero after Vincent died in front of her as well as seeing so many people die this horribly in front of her. I bet she is still shocked.

Yorna:….thank you….for saving my daughter….

Subaru was about to ask her if she knows anything about what is happening but Emilia suddenly comes and says that she spotted their friends but they need to hurry because they were being chased by a hoard.

Otto, Garfield and Julius were fighting the undead. Otto and Julius were taking care of the back while Garfield was knocking out any undead that came in his way. The girls were in the middle. Ram has to carry Roswaal couldn’t do much so was also in the middle. The hoard at least had a thousand undead. They were being overwhelmed by these monsters. They were everywhere. Roswaal kept a count of how many undead did they killed. They killed 39 undead and they already were exhausted. Roswaal for the first time after getting in his life felt how important magic is. He knew how important it is in other ways such as how it can be used to become stronger. But right now he knew without magic he is nothing. He is getting exhausted, he is getting weak, he is becoming slow.

Up until now they could only hide in houses that they could get in but now there was no chance since all the houses around here were filled with undead. Rem didn’t care if she lives or die but she now wanted to live until she makes sure Spica is safe. Beatrice on the other hand didn’t have anything except fear. She didn’t care if she dies but still the fear is eating her. Rem is carrying both Beatrice and Spica.

Ram: SISSY! WE HAVE GO EVEN FATER!!!

Rem: REM IS TRYING!

Subaru actually reached the exit before hey could since he saw a shortcut to it.

Emilia and the others were also silent. Every instinct in their body told them the air has shifted and there will be a bloodbath. They could feel Subaru’s bloodthirst.

 When they came Subaru instantly saw that an old big house that had poor sewer under it. The destruction may have caused this hole which exposed this this under the house. Subaru then hit upon a plan and told them cut those pillars supporting the house. Emilia, Medium and Yorna did as they were told. They did find the tools scattered around the houses floor.

Julius: KEEP RUNNING!

Otto: JULIUS-SAN! I AM REACHING MY LIMIT! I TOLD YOU WE SHOULD GO OUT AT NIGHT!!

Julius: SHUT YOUR MOUTH AND KEEP MOVING!

Julius was now angry. He thought that all the undead around this area have gone out of this city. He thought that they should just take this opportunity and just get out of here. He has miscalculated.

The undead were coming close and luckily there were no undead ahead of them but the undead behind them were still running like rabid dogs. They were running and out of the blue a house crashed down. It was like a landslide. The house had tilted and came crashing down which blocked the path for the undead. They were thinking of it as a miracle. They started to walk but then Frederica and Petra saw someone at a distance. The house crashing down has caused a lot of smoke to be accumulated. Everyone thought it was another undead. Julius was now marching toward it while everyone was behind him. The dust settled and Julius was never ever as shocked as he is now in his whole life.

The axe swung once in Subaru’s grip, a casual motion that carried quiet menace. He rested it against his shoulder, his eyes fixed ahead, hand firm on the handle of the axe.

Julius almost tripped back because of how scared he got after seeing Subaru like this. But he quickly regained his composure. Rem, Spica, Beatrice and Petra wanted to go and hug him as tight as they could but they were stopped by Subaru after he gestured them to stop. Subaru was now taking one step at a time while getting close to Julius. Julius was a little confidante since he now has sword. But he forgot that most of his strength was because of the mana and the magic of this world while Subaru never had these luxuries so he has Raw power with him.

Julius: Subaru! I am really sor—

He was words were cut short as Subaru swung his axe at a speed he couldn’t even see. It was getting strange for Julius since this would have been considered as snails speed by him 4 days ago and no it felt almost inhuman. Julius was becoming a proper human just like the peoples from Subaru’s world. No mana, no magic, no spirits, only raw power. Subaru was inhumanly strong for Julius now.

Julius: Subaru! Calm do—

Subaru once again Swung his axe and Julius tried to block it using the sword but instead the shock from the axe shot through his arms and he understood Subaru is way too strong for him to handle. He was loosing because he still have not grown accustomed the limit of his body in this new world without magic or mana. Subaru swung another time and this time Julius lost his sword. But Julius wasn’t called “The finest knight” for no reason. Julius skillfully took away the axe but Subaru again managed to make him drop it. Julius kicked the axe away and now Both Subaru and Julius were in a hand-to-hand combat situation.

Everyone was shocked by what they saw. Garfield and Roswaal tried to intervene but were stopped by Emilia who came from the back. Yorna, Tanza, Medium now also got to the group and were watching this whole ordeal as well as stopping anyone from intervening.

Julius: Subaru, my friend you cannot win against me in hand-to-hand combat. I am way too strong for you. Please stop this fight and let’s talk out of this. This is becoming unknightly of us.

Subaru: Shut it, I overpowered you a moment ago you daddy’s princess.

Julius: I am way more experienced in fighting than you. You get yourself killed. I mastered martial arts thought by the kingdom while you still brawl.

Subaru hearing this took a karate stance. Subaru is from Japan, a place where the most aggressive and most precise Martial arts were born. Subaru did Kendo when he was in middle school, he knows a how karate works since his dad used it, he even knows wrestling as well as jiu jitsu since he used to wrestle with his dad Kenichi.

In short Julius was about to geta taste of what real martial arts is and to make it even worse Subaru isn’t using the normal Shotokan karate but Kyokushin Karate which is the most strongest and the most aggressive form of karate.

Subaru: I will show you the difference between a pig and a tiger.

Julius didn’t waste any time. He went for the kill. Julius was using his fists in this fight. He was using the boxing stances. Even that was so poor. Subaru was laughing internally after seeing how poor Julius’s Boxing stance was.

The other’s including Emilia were now worried after seeing him pull of such a weird looking stance. They now wanted to stop this from escalating since they thought Subaru will get himself killed by Julius. Julius sucker punch Subaru and the other’s were rushing in after seeing Subaru not moving while Julius is about to attack him. Julius reached Subaru and Subaru used a straight punch which was so strong that it actually broke Julius’s ribs. Then Subaru caught Julius in a leg lock on his injured leg. In a few seconds Subaru broke his ankle then his other leg too.

Julius: AGHHH! AGH! AGGGHHHHH!!!!!
Subaru: What were you saying about you being more combat experienced than me? Motherfucker! I AM THE ONE WHO ALWAYS FOUGHT WITHOUT ANY SPECIAL GIFT OR A WORKING GATE!

Rosswaal: See~ing our Subaru-Ku~n doing something like thi~s to ju~lius-ku~n means that he mu~st have li~ed about what happ~ened to Emili~a-sama and Subaru-ku~n.

I don’t know if she knows anything about what you did to us but I will still put her down just to avoid any future problems.

Julius: Agh…please..no….agh…you don’t have to do this…..Subaru…you will get into trouble for killing a knight and a candidate for the throne…agh…in this way Emilia will not win the selec—

Subaru: You done? Because I am done with your blabbing and look your friends are crossing the obstacle that I created.

Julius look at the direction and sees the undead successfully climbed the wreckage. They are now coming towards them.

Subaru: Everyone run! We need to get going right now!

Everyone started to run. Priscillia actually spited on Julius while running. Julius now knew why Subaru broke his legs. Julius grabbed Subaru and started to beg for forgiveness. He did not wanted to die at the hands of these monsters.

Julius: SUBARU! BROTHER PLEASE! ANYTHING BUT THIS!

Julius was scared even more seeing even Anastasia fleeing with the group. Subaru intentionally let her escape so that he can break Julius even more before he dies. Subaru wanted him to also felt to be betrayed by someone close.

Julius: PLEASE!!!PLEASE!!! SUBARU!!!!! DON’T LEAVE ME!!!

Subaru: “You reap what you sow”

Julius: huh?

Subaru then picked up his axe and started to run.

Julius meanwhile saw the undead coming towards him. He tried to crawl away. He forgot all his teaching and manners in this moment. He was about to die way worse than street dogs. The undead now caught him and they first started to scratch him scarping away his skin. The pain hit Julius instantly. Then they started to bite and rip of chunks of his flesh. The undead ripped away his lags While his upper body was still being feast upon by the other undead while Julius was still alive and screaming.

Julius: AGGGGHHHHHH!!!! AAAGHHHHHH!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!! SOMEONE!!!!!HERPKS!!!!!UGHHHH!!!AGHHH!!!!UGHHH!!!!

Julius finally died due to excessive blood lost and unimaginable pain.

Meanwhile afar from all this the Roy Alphard was suddenly confused. He saw some men coming in a carriage. They were bleeding heavily. They would have died either way so he decided why not eat them. But his authority was not working. Not only that all the skills of the people he ate were gone like the never existed. Suddenly the men dropped down one after another. He was so confused what was happening until he looked back and saw the carriage driver was behind him and almost was about to bite him. Roy jumped back and saw the men who dropped down standing up. The girls inside the carriage started to scream and the came out of the carriage. Some were not lucky and were being eaten alive by the undead inside the carriage.

Roy: What the fuck is happening?

Roy was baffled by what was unfolding in front of him. Then the undead started to move towards him and he was smart enough to understand he die if he stays here any longer.

Even far from that place Pandora who was now thinking what is going on I the world since she can’t feel any mana nor magic. She also discovered that her authority was also not working for three days straight. She was somehow now feeling emotions all of a sudden.

Now the platinum haired girl was brainstorming what to do since she knows everything in the cult will be in chaos since no one will be powerful enough to stop these crazy lunatics. She was now even worried for herself since there is nothing that she can use to defend herself. Now it is only the matter of time when the cultists in the witch cult will understand that they that their archbishops as well as their leader is no longer as powerful as they were.

She is anything but safe right now.

In the Pleiades watchtower a Certain Silver haired girl came out of the seal that bound he for 400 years. Since no Magic was left around her seal, it automatically opened up.

She doesn’t have any mana left and oddly enough she couldn’t feel any mana in the air as well. She then Started to head outside. She didn’t see Reid anywhere like he has vanished from the world

Nothing was making sense right now. She sure did saw Volcanica but she also didn’t see the spirits in the entirety of the tower. She tried to use her authority just to discover it is not working properly. She could only manifest some small hands and a bit of shadow and it as now also gone, yes she couldn’t even do what she did a few moments ago. She was now scared because she doesn’t know what the fuck is going on.

Satella: …Softly…Su..baru….must…find…him. must….find my beloved.

Saying this she exits the tower.

She thought she would have to fight mabeasts around the tower but there were none. She started to walk and soon saw some mabeasts corpse. Satella now understood why there were no mabeasts around the tower. Mabeasts feed on mana of other and since there is no mana in the air as well as no source of magical power sources it was inevitable for them to die.

Satella: I…have to…hurry. Subaru…my beloved...I am coming.

Satella now continued her journey to find Subaru without any magic to protect herself as well as having an authority that doesn’t work properly.

Subaru and everyone else finally came out of that hell hole.

Priscillia was resting not far away from the group when Yorna came in front of her. She wasn’t feeling the best that’s why she came here and now her annoying mother came came here to most probably discipline her about something.

Yorna finally having the chance to meet her daughter in this situation hugged her. She was really worried what Priscillia was going through after seeing Vincent die horribly.

Yorna: You!...you dumb girl…softly crying…making me worried for no reason….softly crying…

Even though Yorna was kind of strict with her daughter all the other time but still showing sonly some affection, now was that time. she was still a mother and could not but hug her daughter to comfort her. Priscillia too couldn’t hold it in and started to let out all those pent up emotions which she carried for these 3 days.

Priscillia:…sobs…I-I couldn’t do anything…sobs…he died while screaming for help.

Yorna: I am also sorry my child…I couldn’t shield you from this disaster.

The mother and daughter continued to comfort each other.

Subaru: Yorna-san! I think we….I think I came at the wrong time. Didn’t knew even Priscillia-san can cry.

Satella was going through the desert but then she heard a roar behind her, it was Volcanica. Satella then got scared because she knew that she might have to fight this colossal being if it doesn’t recognize her. Fortunately the azure dragon didn’t attack. She got the chance to explain what was going on and now she seems to be in control of herself. Satella also told him how she is now trying to find Subaru right now. The azure dragon now also wanted to go with Satella since he doesn’t have anything to do here anyways. Satella got on Volcanica’s back and the azure dragon started flying towards the direction that the silver haired half-elf was showing him.

Subaru: Soooo……now you all get what happened?

Otto: Yes, we do.

Garfield: Hahaha! Mine divine self knew tha’ ma cap’n will come back!

Emilia: As long as Subaru is with me, no evil shall harm me.

Emilia said it while she grabbed Subaru’s hand. Seeing this Rem also entangled Subaru’s hand with her arms. Beatrice and Spica also joined in by filling his lap.

Subaru: Right you are Emilia-tan!...but aren’t you getting too close?

Emilia: No.

Subaru: Otto, do you think everyone have rested?

Otto: Yes, it seems so Natsuki-san.

Subaru: Great. Now everyone do remember, this is the apocalypse and in this hour of disaster trust no one since both human and demi-humans are our second biggest enemy after the undead. As I have discussed with Otto and Roswaal, we will be going through the capital of Lugunica ok.

Yorna: Can you be more detailed?

Subaru we will be going by the side of Gairahal tropics. Going through Ladrima will make us go through Crau-Crown grassland which is not recommended. If we do go through there we would rather be in Picoutatte than Ladrima’s dense forest. So yeah we will be going by the side of Gairahal tropics.

Priscillia: If we go through Ladrima then we could be in my Estate. Why not go through there?

Subaru: You are here and by the speed the undead infection have spread I can guarantee that your Estate has fallen Priscillia.

Emilia: Wouldn’t we be around the Karsten territory?

Subaru: Exactly! Emilia-tan is getting smart!

Emilia, who was grabbing Subaru hand was puffing with pride after being praised by him.

Subaru: That is the point. We will be in Karsten territory where we can get the take the Crusch camp with us. Wilhelm-san might is a great swordsmen and probably the most strongest man in the world right now because he has the most raw power out of any knights in Lugunica. With his help we can also get Reinhard and Felt out of the capital too. We will then go towards Arlam village where we can get the villagers out of there and go to Elior forest where we can build our defence to protect ourselves.

Medium: What about the peoples in Vollachia?

Subaru: Well you heard both Otto and Emilia describing how they end up after helping peoples.

Tanza: Schwartz-sama, can I be come with you?

Subaru then started to lead them towards Gairahal tropics. After two hours they saw a group of survivors coming towards them. All of them looked exhausted.

Emilia: Subaru! Those were the peoples I told you about.

Garfield: Cap’n these are the motha’fuckers who abandoned me and Ottobro.

Carol: HEY! Girl remember us! We met at the capital.

John: Yeah! Remember? Oh, the cat boy is also with you? You do have a lot of friends with you this time.

Joe: Leona, look! We are saved. I really thought we were done for.

Hearing this Tanza Stopped midway before giving the three fruits to Carol. Everyone on Subaru’s side were horrified and disgusted after hearing this. Priscillia was really angry as well as Yorna as they were getting ready to kill this women.

Subaru: Thank you for revealing some dark secrets that will teach my side of peoples that why I said to never trust anyone in this disaster. See everyone! How fucked up people have become!

Emilia: You mean….that kid….he called me onee-chan….

Emilia sat on the ground with trembling legs. The kid which was a really active looking boy was now gone. The innocent smile he gave when he called Emilia was now Gone. Emilia knew that his death was anything but a quick one. Emilia was once again reminded that how ugly peoples could get in a time of a disaster like this. She also remembered how peoples were acting in the Sanctuary when they were trapped. Emilia knew Subaru did all this drama so that she would get to see the dark side of reality.

Carol: KID! GIVE ME THE DAMN FOOD!!!

Joe: FUCK IT! Everyone let’s fucking show them who we are and why we have survived till now!

John: Boys! Fuck ‘em up. We will get the fruits they have as well as the ladies!

Ralph: YEAH!!

Joe: Wait and see you ducking black haired punk. I will fuck that half-devil in front of yo—

His words were cut short as Subaru kicked him too hard. He was on the ground and registering what happened when Subaru Suddenly grabbed his hair and started to chop his head.

Joe: AGHHHH!! AGHHH!!!!!

Subaru: THE FUCK DID YOUUUU SAYYYYY!!!

Subaru swung his axe on him like a maniac. He swung it on Joe’s neck again and again until he got brutally beheaded by Subaru. Subaru then took his head and held it in front of his face.

Subaru: That half-elf is mine. MINE ALONE!!!

John: Fuck you!!!

Subaru: I WILL KILL YOU ALL!

Subaru Swung his axe like a butterfly flapping it’s wings. Otto and Garfield were the ones who went in this fight to aid Subaru. Subaru didn’t kill them actually. He just crippled them.

Subaru: EMILIA IS MINE! MOTHERFUCKERS! HOW DARE YOUUUU!

Subaru was really angry. Since Emilia also told him that she will only be with Subaru, Subaru got way more protective and aggressive in protecting his now newfound family. The Idiot who just died like a street dog just started the fire inside Subaru. Subaru, Garfield and Otto finished the fight in a few moments.

Subaru: Now tell me. Do you want to touch her? Do you want to even think of her? HER?!?!?! My Emilia!!!!

John: N-no….trembling…please we are sorry. Let us go please.

Growling sounds were heard from the direction that this group came from. The undead were closing in. Seeing this the ungrateful survivors got scared, really scared since Subaru just crippled them. Subaru saw the undead closing in and glared at John. Emilia on the other hand got up. Her glare was as cold as ice and she moved toward carol

Carol: Wait! Wait! Please! Don’t kill me!

Emilia:….I will spare you on one condition.

Carol: Yes! I will do anything! Just please don’t kill me!

Emilia: Bring that kid back to life.

Carol: What?.....Whaht do you—

Emilia: You heard me, bring that boy back! Oh! You can’t do that! Can you!

Carol: crying…BUT THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE! HOW CAN I—

Emilia punched her on the face so heard that a tooth fell out and she also got unconscious.

Emilia: In a low voice…Should have thought about that before.

Every member of the Emilia camp was shocked by the thing Emilia did. They didn’t expect her to be this cold.

Emilia then her leg and pressured on her knees which broke her leg. The pain made her come back to her senses and she started to scream out of agony. Emilia Also broke her other leg too. Subaru didn’t stop her but rather applied her method on a guy who wasn’t crippled yet. The undead have reached them and seeing this Subaru and everyone else started to run away.

Leona: WAIT! PLEASE! I BEG YOU! SAVE USSS!

Subaru: You are the ones who brought this on yourselves, you should have thought a thousand time before abandoning the peoples who saved you.

John: PLEASE! WE WON’T DO IT AGAIN! PLEASE!

Subaru: “You reap what you sow”

Otto: Natsuki-san we should be going!

As Otto and Subaru also left, the undead came and started to devour the wicked and ungrateful survivors alive. They couldn’t even run because Subaru already crippled them. Subaru heard their inhuman screams of agony from behind him. He was carrying Beatrice and Spica.

After reaching a safe spot he and his group got to rest.

Emilia: whispering…hey Rem, did you hear how he said that I am his.

Rem: Yes. He does love.

Emilia: But why did he say it like that?

Rem: Because they lusted after you Emilia-sama. Rem’s Subaru-kun is bound to get angry if his loved ones are being stared upon with such ill intention.

Emilia: Don’t you think he has become a little…out of character? Like Subaru reaaally became protective and aggressive when they said those things.

Rem: Well, Emilia-sama is really loved by Subaru-kun and Rem knows that if Rem were to be in your place at that time, Subaru-kun would have also reacted the same way

Emilia: Rem will you marry Subaru?

Rem was caught off guard by this.

Rem: W-well Of course Rem will.

So she not only will be with the man she loves but now she also got a newfound loving sister who is happy to be by her side.

Beatrice: What are you two talking about, I suppose?

Emilia: Nothing!

Satella was now around Lupugana, Volcanica was shocked to his very core after witnessing the brutality of the apocalypse. The azure dragon never thought such a thing would ever happen in this world. Satella was worried the most in her life because she her self along with Volcanica just witnessed how the undead ate a group of peoples alive. The group of survivors came out after seeing Volcanica. They thought he was here to rescue them but the moment they came out, the undead feasted on their flesh while they were alive in front of the silver haired half-elf and the azure dragon. Volcanica straight up fled after seeing this. Not because he was scared but Satella wasn’t feeling well after seeing how they died. The undead fought over the the internal organs of those poor souls, they were torn apart in front of the duo. Volcanica went away from that place and landed outside of the city.

Satella: Oh my od, Oh my od, Oh my od, Oh my od, Oh my od, Oh my od, Oh my od, OH MY OD!!! HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!?!

Volcanica: Satella, Calm thyself. Thou shouldst not be panicking at this moment.

Satella: Ok…you know what? You are right, I should be more hopeful. My beloved must be going towards the capital. I know that for sure that he will try to save his friends.

Volcanica: So, whither shall we be going, then? Also, thy manner of speech hath returned to normal. Didst thou take notice of that?

Saying this the azure dragon resumed it’s flight towards the direction that the silver haired half-elf started to guide it.

In the Karsten Estate, the room was grim since they got reports that their borders are being crossed by weird looking peoples whom seems to be heavily injured but were unaffected by it.

Felix: Crusch-sama, Nya should be resting at the moment.

Crusch: Well I can’t be resting while this abnormal event is unfolding in front me, can I?

It has been 4 days after Crusch got her memories back. The dragon blood in her body also disappeared that day. She was filled with joy until she realized that there was no mana in the air. She also couldn’t feel her divine protection given to her by Od laguna. Felix also have conformed that he also can’t feel his divine protection anymore. Today they got reports that there seems to be many weird looking peoples crossing into their territory.

Wilhelm: Meckart-sama have gone to check what is happening in our domain. Most of our officers as well as soldiers went with him to investigate this matter.

Satella was one her searched all around the city outskirts but didn’t find anything useful that could lead to Subaru. I think I should head for Ladrima since that would be a fast route to get out of Vollachia. What do you think Volcanica?

Volcanica: Thou art one who shalt lead the way.

Satella was looking around when she spotted the best girl of the Emilia camp. The prideful black ground dragon Patrasche. She seems to come towards Satella.

Satella: Patrasche! What are you doing here? Wait, do you know where Subaru is?

Patrasche just staring at Satella because she mistook Satella’s smell for Subaru’s smell. Patrasche also saw the Azure dragon and was stiffen, until Satella removed her veil. Patrasche mistook Satella for Emilia this time and eased up a bit.

Satella: Volcanica, can you lead us to Subaru by following the smell?

Volcanica: Mineself cannot, for I have not used mine smelling ability these four hundred years. I can scarce discern thy scent from that of an appa.

Satella: Patrasche can you smell Subaru?

The ground dragon seems to understood something and started sniffing the air. Then it started to go towards the direction from which she picked up the faint scent form. Seeing this Volcanica picked up both Satella and Patrasche. The poor earth dragon was startled by this action of the big azure dragon with wings.

Satella: let Patrasche guide us. Come on girl! Do your thing!

The earth dragon got a bit offended by how she just talked to her, but she still pointed towards the right direction by pointing her maw. Volcanica then started flying once again to find the beloved of Satella.

On the way Volcanica faced the cloud dargon. Madelyn was there and was going around finding Medium O’Connell.

When the undead started to change on the first day. Balleroy started to crack, Madelyn confessed her love for him but was rejected since Balleroy came to know that his end is nearing. Before being released of this cursed life Balleroy told Madelyn to go and be with Medium O’Connell who is his most trusted person. Balleroy wanted her to be free of him and continue with her life. Saying this Balleroy shattered completely.

Madelyn was now drowning in sadness because she got rejected by Balleroy. Balleroy wanted her to continue her life, as in finding someone special as Balleroy. She doesn’t know if there is another special person for Madelyn even existing in this world. She now tried to find Medium O’Connell. She realized after sometimes that there was no mana in the air. She didn’t have any magic or any other type of magical power left in her. She soon got to witness the brutality of the apocalypse on the first day. The cloud dragon picked her up from there and saved her or else she would have ended up as a victim to these Undead.

Madelyn spent her days in the capital in terror as she tried to find Medium all over the place. She must find Medium O’Connell since Balleroy told her to find her and tell her that he entrusted Madelyn to her. Even though she is a dragonkin, she too gets scared and afraid of things like this. Mezoreia, the cloud dragon, her parent was the only thing that stands between her and the undead. Until today when the dragon also started to show cracks all over itself. She understood that because how much she used Mezoria during the battle, she now must be getting the side effects. After inspecting her biological parent closely she discovered that Mezoreia was actually infected. During these days Madelyn at least understood what happens to the ones who are infected.

Mezoreia didn’t turn but still started to show characteristics similar to the undead.

Today she was going around the outskirts and spotted a azure dragon coming towards them.

Madelyn: Is that another friggin’ dragon?

Madelyn soon realized that which dragon it was. It was Volcanica, seeing this the cloud dragon which is slowly turning into an undead dragon came face to face with it thinking it will harm it’s child.

Satella: Volcanica! Wait! We can’t be wasting time!

Volcanica: But this one is turning into one of those. Mineself ought to put it out of it’s misery.

Madelyn: Who are you trying to put down you frggin’ dragon!

Volcanica: Strange, thou seem to be a dragonkin.

Madelyn: Yes, I friggin’ am!

Satella: What are you doing here?

Madelyn: Friggin’ searching for Medium O’Connell.

Satella: You mean the blond girl that was with Subaru.

Madelyn: Yes! Do you friggin’ know where she is?

Satella: we are trying to find Subaru. Patrasche here is actually helping us in finding Subaru. You will most likely find her with him.

Madelyn: Then friggin’ take me with you!

Satella: But we have to put Mezoreia down for good. The poor dragon is in pain. Also it looks like it is sick like other people. Which means even dragons can become like them.

Madelyn: No! Friggin’ No!

Volcanica: Young one, canst thou see how much it sufferes? This dragon maye well become an undead dragon, and that would bring naught but sorrow. Mineself is certain thy parent, the dragon, would not wish for this to happen. Until thou findest the one thou seekest, thou shalt remain under my protection.

Madelyn: So…Mezoreia is suffering…sobs…but Mezoreia is the only family I friggin’ have left…sobs… What am I supposed to friggin’ do!

Satella: You parent must be in pain right now and it will be the right thing to do.

In this moment the Cloud dragon itself pushes Madelyn towards Volcanica with its maw. The dragon husk seems to be unable to communicate but still understood what they were trying to do. Madelyn seeing this started to cry because she knew that Mezoreia was ready to be put down by Volcanica. The dragon husk pushed Madelyn towards Volcanica with it’s maw. Madelyn tried to grab Mezoreia, but every time she came close she got pushed away by it’s maw. Satella came down and took the little girl away despite it’s struggle. Patrasche grabbed Madelyn using her maw. Mezoreia started to fly away and Volcanica was coming with it. After sometimes they reached a place where Madelyn can’t see them. Mezoreia, the Cloud dragon, stood before Divine dragon Volcanica. As Mezoreia closed its eyes, Volcanica unleashed a powerful breath on Mezoreia. As Mezoreia’s defense was completely none existence compared to his former self, the Cloud dragon got obliterated in a few seconds with a quick death. Volcanica then showed the dragon it’s respect and came back to Satella. Madelyn was still crying. Satella tried to comfort her as much as she could. After sometimes they once again resumed their journey.

Subaru: We will be in Karsten territory in 3 or 4 days. Maybe 5 or 6 if we take longer breaks than usual.

Rem: Subaru-kun is so smart.

Emilia: Yes! Subaru is reaally smart. So much so that he is leading us through this dense forest alone.

Otto: Umm…Emilia-sama…we are also—

Poor Otto’s words were cut by Emilia and Rem as they started to praise Subaru for everything. Garfield patted Otto’s back as he was smiling.

Tanza: Schawrtz-sama! Can I meet the Sword saint there?

Subaru: Yes, absolutely.

Yorna: Can anyone tell me what is that blue thing that’s coming at our direction?

Subaru: What?

Emilia: It seems to be…..Volcanica?!

Subaru: What is that thing doing here?

Petra: Eh?....Divine dragon Volcanica!

Frederica: Yes Petra, it seems to be The divine dragon himself….Why is it coming towards us?.......Subaru-sama, is it just me seeing this or is the size of it is getting bigger?

Subaru: Shit! That fat lizard is coming in hot! Everybody Move!

Everyone felt panicked since the dragon was coming at them at great speed. The huge azure dragon came and started to flap its wings and slowly descended.

Subaru knew things are about to get crazier than before. Then suddenly a black earth dragon jumped off of  Volcanica’s back and came running towards Subaru.

Subaru: Patrasche!!! Girl you are alive!!! I am so happy to see you!!!

Partasche started to lick Subaru’s face like she will never get the chance ever again.

Emilia: Patrasche! I am reaally glad that you came back but would you please get off of Subaru?

Patrasche grunted at Emilia for saying that, then the earth dragon realized something. If Emilia is here then who was with her all this time. The earth dragon was getting confused. Then Madelyn and Satella came down. Everyone recognized Madelyn and thought she might be here to cause trouble again but they didn’t recognize the other girl with the black dress and veil on her face. Anastasia who was still with Subaru’s group because he didn’t know what Anastasia actually did, started to register what the fuck was happening.

Subaru however was stiffen and was not even breathing because he recognized that the balck dressed girl in front of them was The witch of envy, Satella.

Saubru:……….Fuck.

Chapter Text

Satella the witch of envy was now standing in front of everybody. Subaru panicking but then an idea stuck him. He quickly ran and grabed Satella and took her behind Volcanica who was still feeling dizzy by the flight.

Subaru: Satella is that really you?

Satella: Yes, my beloved….I am so glad to see you.

Saying this she hugged Subaru tight.

Subaru: Satella….how did you even….you know what? Forget it, right now we need to hide you.

Satella: Why?

Subaru: Well I don’t know, maybe because you are the Witch of envy! Who destroyed half the world and everyone considers whom to be the most dangerous thing in the wolrd!

Satella: Hehehe…awkward laughing…

Subaru: Hehe my ass!

Emilia: Rem, what is Subaru doing behind the divine dragon? Also, I think that girl had silver hair just like me.

Rem: she did seemed to have silver hair, but…..why did Subaru-kun took her there?

Subaru: Listen to me ok. So, I know that you are Satella and You know that you are Satella but they don’t know that you are Satella….

Satella: So?

Subaru: You are not Satella ok, you are….umm….Estelle! Yes! You are Estelle and a half-elf who looks the same as Emilia!...this is really a great idea. Damn I’m so good at these things!

Satella hearing this did not feel happy at all. She was now going to be called look alike of Emilia. Emilia was the one who should be called her copy not the other way around.

Satella: Do I really have to do this?

Subaru: Yes.

The two then slowly walked in front of everyone. Subaru was holding the hands of her. This caused Emilia to feel jealousy. Subaru then removes her veil and everyone is shocked. Patrasche wasn’t that shocked since she already was shocked when they arrived first.

Emilia: W-who is she?!

Subaru: I know Emilia-tan that you are confused but let me explain ok. Her name is Estelle, a silver haired half-elf with snow white skin color and amethyst eyes as well as the dame face as Emilia-tan!

Emilia: …….eh?

Emilia tilted her head while observing this girl named Estelle who looks the same as her. Subaru found her way of tilting head really cute. Rem was dumbfounded by this thing, but she decided to trust her hero.

Satella: Hi.

Emilia: Wow! You voice is also same as mine.

Subaru: Emilia-tan! Could it be that she is your twin sister?

Yorna: That’s what it looks like.

Madelyn: Medium do you really want to friggin’ stay with these people?

Medium: Madelyn-chan! That is bad you know!

Rem: Is she really her twin sister?

Rem was now thinking that she will get another sister today. She would really be happy if this really happens.

Estelle(Satella): Yes, I am your sister, well it seems to be. Hehe…awkward laughing…

Rem: Really?!?! Nice to meet you! Rem actually became Emilia-sama’s sister recently! Rem would really like to be your sister too!

Rem’s words were a reminder for Satella that no matter what she does, she will only bring Subaru problems. They might actually even say that Subaru was a cultist from the start or something like that. This made him question himself, did they ever even love him or was it just a lie all along. He was now saying things that he wanted to say in their faces for all the time he has ever been here. Now all those suffering, all those pent up pain, agony and anger was now coming out.

Subaru falls on the ground as blood comes out of his mouth. Emilia, Rem, Satella, Beatrice and Volcanica were stunned and shocked to the core. Satella ran towards Subaru crying, howling and crazed. Beatrice runs to the fallen boy. Satella lifts his head up and sees that his eyes were rolled up and blood was coming out of his mouth. His head fell upon her chest as her cries intensifies. Beatrice was trying to wake Subaru up with all her might by shaking his body.

Volcanica: The books of the dead…those names….the books that had the same names…..

Emilia and Rem still could not register what was happening or what he just said.

Emilia/Rem: [There is no way what he said was true, right…..right?]

Satella was now fearing that Subaru might die at this rate. She also couldn’t believe that he was actually able to say it in front of everyone.

Emilia falls on her knees as she remembered how he always said how much he loved her, her hair, her eyes, her voice, her everything. She just confessed her love and now saw The witch of envy with him. He sure did side with her and tried to save her but this never had actually meant in any way that he loved her because she looked like Satella. Everything was making sense for her now. The way he knows everything before it happens, the way he always look terrified before anything bad happen every single time, the way they win against any enemy even archbishops which can’t even be killed by even the sword saint that easily falls at their hands, how every time they all of them miraculously. Everything now made sense, those victories were never won by their efforts but paid with Subaru’s very own life…his own soul. He made the supreme sacrifice every time. Why? Because he loves her, he loves Rem, He loves everyone close to him. He died for their sake all this time and how did they repay him? Calling him a betrayer. Now the question for Emilia, was this worth it? All the things she just did just because of the harassment she faced in the past by peoples who might not even appear ever again in her life, because of the appearance she can’t control. Was it worth it to just cling to it for the price of Subaru being completely destroyed internally.

Emilia: What have I done….

Rem’s mind was currently blank. Her small head was also going down the same path of thinking as Emilia’s, thanks to which she also was able to put two and two together. Rem instantly regrated saying those things to Subaru. She felt like she can’t even repent even if she kills herself since she doesn’t even know how many times Subaru has bought her life from death with his own.

Tears were flowing out of both of their eyes. Emilia who was on the ground crawled towards Subaru.

Satella: GET AWAAAYYY!!!!!...sobs…get away f-from m-my beloved…sobs…

Emilia didn’t have any rights to approach anymore. Patrasche came running, Otto actually taken her away with him so she couldn’t do anything. But now she came back as she felt something was wrong. She started screeching loudly seeing Subaru’s state. Volcanica, all this while didn’t even have the courage to open his mouth since he was the one who revealed Satella’s name.

Subaru woke up at late night. He didn’t feel well and then remembered what happened today. He rushed out of the makeshift and saw Emilia, Satella, Rem, Beako, Spica, Tanza, Petra and Volcanica. All of them were awake and the girls had dark circle under their eyes.

They looked towards Subaru and before anyone could react Emilia and Rem ran to him. They straight fell on his feet asking for forgiveness.

Emilia: Please! Subaru! Forgive me! I am sorry! I promise to never upset you! I will always follow whatever you! Just Please! Please don’t leave me!

Rem: Rem will do whatever Subaru-kun wants! Even if he is does the worst crimes Rem promises to never say anything! Subaru-kun! Please! Rem will never do anything like that ever again! Please forgive Rem! Rem will never go against your will! Please just don’t leave me! Rem Swears to be better!

Emilia: Please! Don’t leave us! I will leave everything for you! I will never heed any words anyone says about you ever again! So please!...crying uncontrollably…FORGIVE ME!!! AND DON’T LEAVE ME!

They were gripping his leg tightly like it is their last life line. Both of their hairs were messy, they had bloodshot eyes and crazed looks. Subaru knew how stupid these two girls were. They would jump to conclusions anytime.

None of them were able to make eye contact with Subaru and they didn’t know what to do now. It doesn’t matter how they are and what they will do….they will still be the ones for whom he sacrificed everything for. Subaru knows that when they crashed out, they still loved him, those words were for what they wanted to express but the actions were what they felt. Since Rem really considered him as a cultist then she would have killed him regardless but she didn’t, if Emilia really hated him that much then she would have gone for the kill. Subaru realized in this way that even if he were to be a horrible person they would still not lift as much as a finger against him, even when he grabbed them tightly and was aggressive but they didn’t try to harm him, in short Emilia and Rem never meant those words, they still love him.

Subaru also knelt down to their level and buried their head on his chest. He felt his chest being wet. The half-elf and the oni were forgiven, everyone else were waiting. Volcanica actually explained the condition of Satella’s power, the destruction that happened 400 years ago, how The witch of envy was Satella’s split personality and Satella was fully innocent in this calamity. Satella also explained to them how she picked him up from his world which shocked them all. Satella also said that she and the witch both loves Subaru and they gave him a power to save himself. They were baffled after learning that Subaru was connected to Satella from the beginning. Even while explaining these things Satella never mentioned Return by death. She cleverly used the word ‘power’ as the substitute for it.

Garfield: So Cap’n was connected to ya from tha start?

Satella: Yes, as I said so.

Some of them still couldn’t fully accept Subaru being connected to the witch, sensing that Beatrice asked a Satella a question.

Beatrice: Betty wants to ask a question, I suppose. How much did the power you gave Betty’s Subaru impacted our lives, in fact?

Satella: Subaru used the power on his own, without it all of you who are present here were supposed to be dead. Most of you were supposed to die long ago. The poor dragon on the other hand was silent was letting noises of grief escape from it’s maw he didn’t say anything from the time Subaru passed out.

The kids in their group had stars in their eyes as they were about to ride The divine dragon Volcanica.

The Karsten Estate was stained with blood as undead were everywhere around it. Most of the soldiers died as well as the officers. Meckart Karsten was also dead. Crusch, Wilheml, Felix and some servants were the only survivors. The doors were barricaded in time because of which they survived.

Crusch: Felix…trembling…just why did this happen?

Wilhelm: These devils have surrounded us completely…..we might not make it alive.

The night was falling and the defense was crumbling under pressure from the undead. The only thing now that can save them is the dragon and the ones on it’s back. But the question is, can the survivors in Kasten Estate survive until they come?

In the capital.

Heinkel: I…huff…I will not fall…huff…I have been a fucked up drunk sorry excuse of an father…huff…a worthless son…huff…and a weak and pathetic husband until now…huff…huff…but not anymore. I will never let you reach my son and my wife while I am breathing!

As he said that, dozens of undead came charging. Heinkel Astrea was now defending his family and the remaining survivors of the capital alone.

Crusch was now breaking down as the undead were now trying to break down the doors. Wilhelm was now regretting for not being a good father and failing to be a grandfather too.

Felix: Crusch-sama…when they breach in, I will act as a meat shield and you escape with Wilhelm and the servants……this would be the only—

Crusch: No! I already lost my father, I don’t want to l lose anyone else precious to me…

Wilhelm: Crusch-sama! The barricade is breaking!

Crusch: What!

Felix: Crusch-sama, no time to think. We have to make our escape through them.

Maloney: Crusch-sama! You have to survive at any cost!

Wilhelm: Butler Maloney is right. Crusch-sama and I with the rest of the maids will run through them and act as a meat shield against them. Felix-dono, Butler Maloney and the manservants will stop most of these devils and make path for us to escape.

Crusch: No! Absolutely no! we—

The Undead have breached the barricades

Wilhelm: Damned devils! I will kill all of you!

Saying this Wilhelm started to massacre the undead in front of him. Maloney and the other manservants also charged ahead with everything they could get their hands on. Only Wilhelm was looking like someone who could beat this hoard of undead as the sword demon was claiming heads of the undead one by one. Felix grabbed Crusch’s hand and started to run. The maids also followed their lead.

Wilhelm: Od! Please! Help me get through this!

Wilhelm was now facing the relentless attacks of the undead.

Maloney: Sir-Wilhelm! We gotta go!

Wilhelm then starts to run with Maloney as they were the ones responsible to defend Crusch and the women from behind. The manservants were at the front so that they can protect Crusch from any incoming undead. The manservants were inexperienced, as a result they were getting mauled by any undead they come across.

Ross: Fucking devil! Leave my brother alone!

Ivankov: ARGHHH!!!!!!

Maloney: Don’t Stay there! Run! He is not coming back!

Ross: I fucking have to take him back! My mother won’t be able to bear losing him!

The inexperienced servant attacked the four undead which were eating his brother alive. The servant was stabbing them again and again nut those were in vain as they didn’t stop, instead now one of them attacked Ross but Wilhelm beheaded it before it could bite the servant.

Wilhelm: Boy! Run for your life!

They then started to run and run. The manservants as well as many of the maids in their group were grabbed by the undead and now were being devoured. Tears were streaming down Felix and Crusch’s cheeks as they ran and saw so many familiar faces getting lunged at. The maids whom Crusch known from when she was little, the young boys who came in their Estate for jobs to sustain their families, the young girls whom with Crusch shared some moments of openness were snatched in front of Crusch. Crusch was feeling terrible and sad and guilty right now as never before in her life.

Felix: Ferris is scared, Ferris is scared, Ferris is scared, Ferris is scared…Sobs…Ferris is sorry!!! Ferris is useless!!! Ferris couldn’t save you all!...sob…Ferris is sorry!!!

Wilhelm: Maloney-dono! You take care of the rear and I will go clear the staircase so everyone can go down!

Maloney: Ok!

Wilhelm then sprinted at his full speed and sped past Crusch and Felix. Wilhelm was shocked as he saw there were no more manservants left except for the young boy he saved who was now behind their group. Wilhelm sprinted even faster than before and danced with the sword in his hand.

Wilhelm: You devils will die at my hands! I will kill every single one of you and survive this and will reach my family Even if this is the last thing I do!!!!!!

Wilhelm was going all out with his sword. The undead were not much in number around the staircase. The real hoard in the residence was coming from behind as they were now alert of them trying to escape. At least a hundred undead were chasing them now so Wilhelm had to do everything fast.

Crsuch: Butler Maloney! Please hurry!

Maloney: Young Ross! Run as fast as you can!

The inexperienced manservant was getting tired as he was running. They didn’t even have properly eat which has now resulted in them being tired fast and slowing down.

Wilhelm: Go! Go! Go! Go! Don’t look back just keep running!

They have now gotten down from the second story of the Estate. Wilhelm once again went to lead the group and they reach the exit but fate was not on their side today as they found the door was jammed by chunks of body part outside. The outside was anything but clean and safe.

Wilhelm: DAMN DOOR!!!

Crusch: Wilhelm! What is happening? Why are you not opening the door?

Wilhelm: Crusch-sama, the door is jammed.

The inexperienced servant came down the stairs first and came to Wilhelm’s side.

Ross: Why isn’t the door still opened?!

Felix: It’s jammed!

Ross: Fuck it! We have to break it by force!

Wilhelm: Felix! We need your help breaking it down.

Wilhelm, Felix and the inexperienced servant now stepped back a good distance and on Wilhelm’s signal they charged at the door slamming their shoulders on it. The door trembled but didn’t open. The undead also came while following Maloney. The maids were now scared as they understood they will be dead in a few moments. Maloney hurriedly came down the staircase. The undead were trying to run down the staircase but all of them started to lost stumbled and fell on one another pilling up on the stairs as other undead ran over their bodies.

Wilhelm: Now!!!

This time Wilhelm, Felix, The inexperienced servant and Maloney, all at the same time sprinted towards the door and slammed their bodies against it as hard as they could and as a result the door burst opened which created a lot of noise and now other undead outside of the Estate were now coming towards them.

Some undead reached them and as the maids were distracted, they grabbed and bit the unlucky ones as agonizing screams echoed throughout the Estate. The poor maids were so close to getting out alive but Alas! Fate played a cruel trick on them by giving them and hope and taking it away.

Felix: Noooo!!!

Wilhelm: Devils!!! I will Slaughter you all!

Wilhelm blinded by rage, released a series of sword thrust towards the undead but the damage was done as several of the innocent young girls with many dreams and hope were killed by these monsters who were once also human.

Felix:…w-why?.............why did this happen…hic…j-just why?...crying…Why Od?! Why?! They were also trying to survive and l-live…crying…so why do you have to be unfair…hic…Why can’t F-ferris save anyone?...

Wilhelm: We have no time to mourn Felix-dono! Get it together!

As Felix snaped back to reality, he saw the last few maids being fully broken as they saw some undead were even crawling up to the bodies of the downed maids and much on them even as Wilhelm sticks them. Felix sees that Mary, a maid who was pregnant and was examined by him was also one of the maids who were now being eaten by the undead.

About two months ago.

Felix: Congratulations Mary nya~! You are pregnant. You are almost on your third month nya~. You should go back to your home and rest.

So, that’s why I want to stay by Crusch-sama’s side and be as helpful as I can.

Felix seeing the determined maid was amazed and happy but worried at the same time.

Felix: Ok you can continue to work here. But you have to go home with a paid leave after you two moths ok! After that it would be bad for the baby nya~!

Mary: alright.

Felix: Do remember to bring the little one here so that Ferris can see him nya~!

Marry: Alright sir Felix, as you wish.

The girl was supposed to leave the Estate to her family and have a happy time with her family but it was simply not written in her fate. Felix was still in guilt because after week she was supposed to go back to her village. She was going to be a happy mother. But now she was lying on the ground lifeless. The light in her eyes were gone. She was being eaten by the undead and Felix couldn’t do anything but see with his own two eyes. The other maids who knew of her pregnancy were stiffened with grief and shocked to the core.

Wilhelm: Oh no……….I am sorry young ones….I couldn’t protect you.

Wilhelm knew all the maids and servants in the Estate an knew these maids too. He even knew marry as Wilhelm was someone who would occasionally help her out with heavy stuff. She even talked with him about what she should do as she would now have two kids. She talked to him about many things. The sword demon was happy to always help and listen to her stories of her life. Even the other maids also had a good relation with him as he knew them from the time they started working here.

Wilhelm:………..poor soul—

Ross: Behind you!

Wilhelm spined in an inhuman speed and the undead head in half. The half-sliced head fell as Wilhelm kicked its body away. Blood sprayed from its half-cut head like a fountain of water.

Wilhelm: I will stay here blocking these monsters from coming out, all of you run away.

As Wilhelm was saying that, undead from all around them were now coming towards them as they spotted them. Wilhelm knew if someone didn’t stop the undead coming out from the residence, they will be attacked from behind for sure and they won’t even have the time to save the fallen ones this time as the number of undead was more than a thousand.

Maloney: Sir Wilhelm! Please pick up Crusch-sama! Ross! Gat the maids up! Go quickly.

Wilhelm and Ross nodded as they ran towards them. Maloney was now being overwhelmed by the incoming undead.

Wilhelm: Crusch-sama! Please get up! We have to run!

Crusch was now trembling with pure terror as she imagined how she would die if she were to be ever caught by these devils from hell. She was strong and brave, yes. But she was now nothing but a scared little girl who is now broken inside as seeing all these horrifying deaths in front of her.

Wilhelm: Felix! Get the maids up! We are running! It’s now or never!

Maloney on the other hand knew as much as Wilhelm that now they were doomed as from everyway the undead would chase them unless they stop at least one side as the numbers decrease, their chances of survival increase.

Maloney then made a discission, the undead were trying to get out at a large number which is making them come at their group a few at a time but at this rate the door and the walls will break under pressure.

Maloney: Crusch-sama!!!

Crusch then looked at Maloney as he was giving her a warm and a gentle smile.

Maloney: It was nice knowing you……

Wilhelm’s eyes widened as he understood what he was going to do.

The undead came at Maloney but this time instead of attacking them with the sword, The humble butler pushed them back with his own body. The undead started to bite his like wild animals. He heard the screams of Wilhelm form behind but he didn’t stop. With all his might he pushed them back and shut the door close. Now the all the Undead lunged at him.

Maloney: I will not die at your hands you foul beasts!

He then swiftly pierced his own heart with the sword to save himself from this agonizing pain he was about to suffer. Regardless the undead munched on his body.

Wilhelm didn’t even have the time to mourn as the incoming undead seconds away. Everyone started to run on instinct as they all want to live.

Wilhelm was leading the group and Ross was defending them from the undead behind. The maids were now full of energy as adrenaline was rushing through their body enabling them to forget their fatigue and sprint at their max speed. They were frantically running but still some unlucky ones tripped and fell. Ross managed to save only one and the others who fell became prey to the undead. They screamed as the undead sink their teeth on their flesh. Chunks of flesh were ripped off of their body and they scream in pure agony.

Wilhelm: Keep running!

Wilhelm kept clearing the undead in front of him but he was too tired now. His body was old and was getting weak. His legs were now losing strength and hands were losing grip on the sword.

Felix: Everyone be careful!

Wilhelm was shocked to see a large number of undead rushing towards them from the front. Everyone stopped as they were surrounded from all sides. All the maids were now in a panic as Ross was trying to block off the undead coming from behind but the number was far too great for him to handle. Around twenty to thirty undead jumped Ross and he was ripped in half in a few moments in front of all of them. Ross was alive and in pain like no other. In front of them several undead pulls out his entrails were being grabbed out. Ross was screaming as he saw them eating his entrails. He pleaded to them to save him but in a moment many other undead also joined in on devouring him whole. His throat was bit off, flesh from his face were being eaten and lastly before he died, his eyes got chewed off.

Wilhelm: Die!!!!

Wilhelm was defending them with all he had but his old body was slowing down.

Wilhelm: Well, Theresia…I failed in seeing my family for the last time and asking for their forgiveness…I am sorry…I am worthless. I will now be joining you soon in the Od….

Wilhelm gave up hope on surviving but he didn’t plan to go down before killing as many of these monsters as he can. Crusch on the other hand has now decided to suicide by stabbing herself in the heart. She doesn’t want to die so brutally, but she was so scared of death at this moment that she couldn’t even stab herself. The maids now crying frantically as they would die being eaten alive by these undead.

Wilhelm was almost about to die as a majestic and ground trembling roar halted most of the undead from moving for a few moments as they stare at the source. This was the Divine dragon Volcanica, who has now descended in a way in which many undead were crushed in a blink of an eye.

Subaru with axe in each hands came and Garfield with his gauntlets went ahead like a storm and killed dozens of undead in their way. Subaru flashed through the undead and reached Wilhelm where he killed four undead around him. Wilhelm then got a chance to properly stand on his feet and Subaru and he started to kill the undead around Crusch, Felix and the maids. Subaru was faster than even Wilhelm in attacking the Undead and killing them, Garfield on the other hand was tanking every single Undead that came in his way.

Madelyn: You friggin beasts will now die!

Madelyn swung her blade like a hurricane which killed ten undead in front of her. Volcanica on the other hand was killing the undead as if he was swatting flies. All the undead that came near him were turned into lump of flesh. With Volcanica around they were out of danger as he practically massacred the undead. But even he doesn’t want to let the undead get close to him as he is not sure if they can actually penetrate his scales by biting. Subaru told everyone to climb onto Volcanica’s back. Subaru and Madelyn Took care of every undead that came towards them.

Emilia: Please hurry up!

Satella: We have to hurry! Volcanica can’t move while they are climbing and Subaru and Madelyn is fighting the undead to buy us time.

Tanza: Schwartz-sama! Everyone has climbed on Volcanica!

Subaru: Madelyn!

Madelyn was being attacked by all side but she was still a dragonkin. She killed them in an instant by spinning really fast with her blade. Subaru cover for Madelyn as she climbed back on. Subaru also climbed back quickly.

Volcanica: Hold tight!

The azure dragon then steadily took flight. They were now in the air where no undead could touch them. Crusch buried her face in Emilia’s chest and broke down crying as Emilia started to comfort her. The maids were also holding each other and crying as they have survived this disaster. Only 5 maids made out alive, Felix was crying as he was thinking of how the ones he knew got killed in front of him like nothing.

Subaru: Wilhelm-san, are you alright?

Wilhelm: Don’t worry Subaru-dono. Its just that I am tired.

Subaru: Are you hungry or need water?

Wilhelm: We ate nothing for three days.

Garfield: Holy crap! How did y’all even survive this lon’?

Tanza: We got fruits! Plenty of them!

Subaru: Give it to them, they are really in need.

Wilhelm: Never thought this old man will actually ride on the back of the divine dragon.

Crusch: Anastasia-san, where is Julius?

Subaru: Ohhhh I actually even forgot about you Anastasia-san. You didn’t even talk for a while now.

Wilhelm: Subaru-dono, may I inquire about Jul—

Subaru: Dead.

Wilhelm:…..

Felix:…..What do you mean by that?

Garfield: Ya heard ma cap’n! Tha’ son of a bitch is dead!

Felix: H-how?

Subaru: I killed him, more specifically I fed him to these undead.

Everyone from Crusch camp were shocked. Felix straight up grabbed Subaru by the collar to attack him.

Felix: What do you mean that you killed him?!?!

Subaru: He tried to fed me and Emilia-tan to those undead first. I did what I was supposed to do when I survive.

Felix: What?

Subaru: Felix, he fucking tried to make us the scapegoat for his and his liege Anastasia Hoshin’s escape. He fucking locked us behind a door were several dozens of undead were coming at us. I some how managed to save myself and Emilia from that death trap. The next time when I saw Julius, I made sure he wasn’t killed by me but got eaten by the undead. He got what he deserved ok.

Wilhelm: But why would Julius-dono even do such thing? I still can’t believe it.

Subaru: His fucking liege was at a life was at stake. He needed time to figure out a route for escape and he knew the door would also just crumble under the pressure of so many undead. So yeah, he made us the scapegoat to stall time! The fuck do you expect me to do? Forgive him!?

Felix: I-I didn’t know….

Subaru: Thank you.

Everyone got rest as Tanza gave them fruits to eat.

Subaru: Volc! We need to go to the capital of Lugunica! Do you need directions or do you know the way just fine!

Volcanica: Mineself  can navigate there without any problem.

Wilhelm: Subaru-dono….if your group had came just a little earlier than a lot of lives would have been saved…..many young souls I know are now lost….

Subaru:…that explains…I am sorry for being late as we had some issue which made us stop for a whole day.

Hearing this everyone understood what he was meaning.

Wilhelm: I wonder what happened that made you stop for a whole day. Even the divine dragon is with you. Also, how did you managed to get the divine dragon to come and help us out.

Subaru: We are currently high avobe ground and I don’t want to cause a scene so I am not saying anything right now.

Felix was now trying to not make any eye contact with anyone as he was not only able to save anyone from the undead but also attacked Subaru without knowing why he killed Julius. He was mow feeling guilty and sadness as he couldn’t save do anything but run with Crusch.

Subaru: Felix, hey buddy. Sorry for how I talked back there. I didn’t know what you were going through.

Felix: its ok, I am the one to blame here. I just can’t think straight right now. I never even thought Julius-nya~ would do something like this to Subaru-kyun.

Otto: Sir Felix, may we know about the casualties?

Felix: Around a hundred servants and maids were killed in this disaster, The duke also got killed, our officers and all of the soldiers died. We survived by barricading a room and we had five manservants and thirteen maids…..only five maids made it out. If you could have come a little earlier than all of them could have been saved…..

Subaru:…..

Otto:……I am sorry to hear that…

Subaru: Everyone! Listen! I have a plan to execute right after we reach the royal capital. We are going to find Reinhard, felt, Heinkel, Kadomon and his family. We will also try to open a safe path for the survivors there. After which we will head to Arlam village. The rest of the plan will be discussed later.

Wilhelm: Reinhard, Heinkel…just wait for me…I am coming to save you all.

In the Capital.

Heinkel: Don’t let them through!

Guards: Yes, sir!

Every soldier and every man with any capabilities to fight are now helping Heinkel defend the last group of survivors. Heinkel was setting up the barricade with the survivors while the soldiers were killing off any undead that came through.

Felt: Reinhard…sobs…please don’t die…sobs…I will never cause any problems for you…sobs…Please come back to me…sobs…

Felt was crying while holding Reinhard. Reinhard fell on the ground while navigating through the crowd. He was looking for her, She was the one who disobeyed him and ran off to get old man Rom. Heinkel brought him back and covered up the wounds on his head. If not for Reinhard, she would have died several times by now.

Plum: Mommy who are we looking for?

Raksha: We are looking for your grandma and grandpa.

In the capital.

Kadomon: Damn it! Where did Raksha go with our daughter?!

Guard: Sorry sir, but we cannot let you go there.

Kadomon: But my wife and daughter might be there!

Guard: Sir, go back to safety or we will use force.

Grimm: Kadomon!

Kadomon recognized that voice as he looked back. It was his father-in-law Grimm Fauzen.

Guard: Sir? Do you know him?

Grimm: Yes, he is my son-in-law. Kadomon, my daughter is with my wife right now and she was worried about you so I had to come and get you

Kadomon: Wait Raksha is with you?

Grimm: Yes.

Grimm and Kadomon then started walking towards the shelters. They were talking about what was going on with the others life before and after this disaster. At one point of talking Grimm revealed that his wife Carol Remendis had almost died if not for Heinkel and Reinhard’s timely rescue. As they were talking they reached the shelters.

Kadomon: …….???

Grimm: Yeah, yeah, I know this looks bad it is what it is kiddo.

Plum: Daddy!

Kadomon heard his daughter calling him, he rushed to his daughter and hugged her. Besides Plum were Raksha and Carol Remendis. Raksha was happy that she got reunited with her husband.

Carol: Well would you be here on the streets all day or come with us?

Raksha: Mommy! Don’t talk to him like that, he will feel sad.

Kadomon: Nah, I ain’t feeling sad for something like that honey!

Soon their happy moments of reunion shattered as Guards came running as they alerted everyone that the barricade failed to keep out the undead.

Grimm: Carol! Take them and run I will go and evacuate other peoples!

Carol: It’s too dangerous! You gotta come with us!

Raksha: Dad, Mom is right, please let’s just go.

Grimm: I might be in my 60’s but I am still good as the old days so no problem. You better run now, Oh and Carol please go and get Lady Felt and master Reinhard out with you. Sir, Heinkel gave this responsibility to me.

Carol:…..you better make sure to came back in one piece or you will not be sleeping with me for the rest of you life Grimm Fauzen!

Grimm: Ok dear….please take care of our daughter and granddaughter.

Kadomon: Am I nothing to you?!

Grimm: You better make sure my daughter is safe Kadomon.

Heinkel: Grimm! Fucking run!!!

Everyone looked back as they saw Heinkel running towards them. Heinkel told everyone to everyone to run. They couldn’t understand why until they saw a massive hoard of undead running behind him.

Kadomon: Holy shit! RUN!!!!

Everyone started to run as they feared they will be mauled by these undead.

Grimm: Master Heinkel!

Heinkel: Talk!

Grimm: How many are they.

Heinkel: Do you think I was counting?! There are possibly Thousands so keep running!!!

Plum: Daddy, I’m scared!

Kadomon: Don’t worry it’s going to be fine!

They started running as the undead chased them. The peoples who were unaware of the situation outside their shelters got out to see what was going on and they got jumped by thousands of undead. The survivors on the last row’s of shelters were the ones who got time to be alerted and started running.

Heinkel: You peoples run to find an escape route! I will go get my son!

Grimm: No way in hell you will be going in alone master Heinkel!

In the house where Reinhard and Felt was staying.

Reinhard started to wake up slowly as Felt was besides him. Rom was outside the room as he started to hear screams.

Reinhard: Felt-sama what is happening?

Felt: You dummy! Stop moving and rest!

Reinhard: Ok, but what are those noises?

Rom: Felt! We need to get of here fast!

Felt: What’s going on?

Rom: The barricade seems to be breached.

Reinhard: Where is my father?

Felt:…….

Reinhard: We have to go and get him now!

Felt: Ok if you say so.

Rom: Sigh…..fine with me.

They all went out of their rooms as they saw Louanna Astrea standing.

One the day of the apocalypse Reinhard was patroling the city as normal.

Reinhard: The capital is calm as everything was going smoothly. I should go back since Felt-sama need some items on the market. I should be with her while she does something like this.

As Reinhard was trying to go to his residence he wanted to use his divine protection to get there fast since he was getting late. But when he wanted to use them, nothing worked. He was dumbfounded as he could not sense any divine protections in him. Reinhard was getting worried about what was happening and he was showing genuine emotions that he wanted to show and the moment he realized this he was shocked. He never thought that an emotionless monster like him could actually show emotions.

Reinhard: Hahaha I-I can feel emotions...I can feel them, express them! Oh my od!

Reinhard became happy like a four year old toddler who received his favourite toy.

Reinhard: I gotta tell Felt-sama about this! She will be so happy.

Reinhard started to run to the noble district where the Astrea residence of the Capital was. Little did he know he was about to get the shock of his life when he returns.

Felt: Flam, Grassis! 

Falm: Yes Felt-sama.

Grassis: Yes Felt-sama.

Felt: Where is Rein? We need to head to the market?

Grassis: Reinhard-sama has gone out to patrol the capital.

Felt:........ Let's just wait it out.

While they were talking they suddenly heard some noise from the room where Louanna Astrea is in. At the same time Reinhard comes in and his looked happy for some reason.

Reinhard: Felt-sama! Do you notice anything?

Felt: What? You look the same. 

Suddenly groans started coming from Reinhard's mother's room. Reinhard immediately ran towards it and before he could open it, it opened from the inside and then from then a person stood before Reinhard whom shocked everyone that saw her. It was Louanna Astrea, Reinhard's mother. Reinhard's eyes started to get watery as he extended his hand towards her.

Reinhard: M-Mother? I-is that you?

Louanna:????...who are you?

Reinhard fell on his knees as Louanna got close to know why a grown up man called her mother suddenly. Reinhard on the other had hugged her and started to cry. All that pain and sufferings, all that pent up sadness, all that build up emotions that he could never express came out all at once. 

Reinhard:.....crying...I-I am R-Reinhard...crying...I am your son...crying uncontrollably...!!!

Reinhard cried and cried as he held on to his mother.

Louanna: W-what?! But how can you be my Reinhard? He is....

She looked into Reinhard's eyes as she saw both happiness and sadness. The way he looked at Louanna struck her in the heart. But she still couldn't accept it and jerked away.

Felt: Woah! How did Reins mother wake up after all this while?

Flam: This....I-I have to inform everyone! 

Grassis: This is big news!!!

Louanna: I don't know what is happening but I want to see my husband and my son. What you are doing is not funny.

Reinhard: B-But I am your son Reinhard.

Louanna: He.is a child and you are an adult. I will not fall for whatever you are trying to do! 

Felt: Hey! Don't talk to Rein like that!

Everything around Reinhard was becoming blurred as he heard his mother denying him as his son.

Reinhard: So, even my mother thinks I can't even be her son. I am not even worthy of being her son. I really am useless, even my own mother doesn't want me......

A storm brew inside of Reinhard as he saw how his mother gave him a look of disgust.

Louanna was feeling disgusted as this red haired boy was touching him too closely. She was sure they were tricking her. Louanna looked at her self-proclaimed son and started to back off. She then ran down the corridor. 

Reinhard:............Haha....even my own mother doesn't want me. She was so disgusted by me that she ran away......

Felt: Stop thinking like that Rein! She must be scared or startled.

Reinhard: I don't think that is the case Felt-sama.

Flam and Grassis were currently telling every other servants in the residence about Louanna. They were unaware of what happened between her and Reinhard as they went away before things got hot.

Grimm Fauzen couldn't believe what Flam told her.

Grassis was going around to looking for Carol as she stumbled upon Heinkel. He was had a sad looking vibe today.

Grassis: Heinkel-sama! Louanna-sama just awoke from her slumber!!!

Heinkel:........wait what!?!?!

Heinkel was going to get really angry if this is a joke. But as he started to approach her to question her, Louanna appeared in front of him. Heinkel was standing stunned as his beloved wife was in front of him. Louanna was equally shocked to see Heinkel like this, he seems to be older than she remembered. 

Louanna: Honey?

Heinkel: Louanna?......

Heinkel hugged her tight as tears of joy started to flow from his eyes. Louanna couldn't  understand anything but after things cooled down a bit started asking questions.

Louanna: Honey, what is happening? Why do you look....old?

Grassis: Louanna-sama, how did your conversation go with Reinhard-sama?

Louanna: A-about that, honey where is our son? There is an unknown man who said he was my son and grabbed me and started sobing. I don't understand what is happening.

Heinkel: Louanna, what did you do when he say and what did you do? Tell me clearly.

Felt: She jerked away her own son and now he thinks that his resolve to call hinself a monster is more than ever!

Felt arived behind them and shouted.

Heinkel: Ha! He does understand what he actually is!

Felt: I thought that miss Louanna would be a good mother better than that dummy's father who neglected his son and called him monster all his life....I was wrong. Have a great day miss Louanna and thank you for lowering Reinhard's self-esteem even more.

Felt started to walk away as Grassis stood still. Louanna wasn't getting what was happening at all, why were they calling that unknown grown up man his son?

Heinkel: Tch...that brat is useless as ever, even scaring even her own mother. 

Louanna: What do you mean by "her own mother"?

Heinkel: Forget about honey, I am so happy to see you again after all these years.

Louanna: What do you mean by all these years honey? 

As she was brain storming she remember that she was on the bed near Heinkel as she was sick. 

Heinkel: Honey don't you remember, you fell victim to the sleeping beauty disease. It's been 18 years since then.

Louanna's memory became clear and she was now horrified after realizing her mistake. 

Louanna: Oh od, what have I done.

Louanna rushed to the place where she last saw Reinhard as Heinkel also ran after her. When Louanna reached the place she saw Reinhard sitting on the floor, curled up and crying. Felt was patting his back as he was crying non stop.

Louanna: Reinhard! Oh od! What have I done to my baby!

Louanna rushed to his side and hugged him tight. 

Reinhard: Mom?

Louanna: Yes dear, mother is sorry.

Reinhard hugged her back. Tears and snot overflowed his face. Nobody noticed it but Heinkel did, He always never saw this little monster of his own never cry or express extreme emotions but seeing him cry like this today made Heinkel thinking about what was happening to him.

Heinkel: How could this monster even cry? Isn't this the same monster who killed his grandmother and didn't show a hint of remorse? How is he feeling sad now?

Felt: Reinhard, how can you cry like this?....

Reinhard: W-what?

Felt: Like how are you even able to cry like this? You are expressing emotions that you were never supposed to show. You are the one who told me that you cannot express your emotions like this then how are you even doing this?

Reinhard: That was the thing I wanted to tell you. I can express my emotions now for some reasons, my divine protections are gone too!

Heinkel: What!!! What do you mean by your divine protections are gone?!?!?

Reinhard: T-they just....disappeared maybe.

Heinkel: What about the divine protection of the sword saint?

Reinhard: it too is gone.

Louanna: Hold up! What do you mean by his divine protections? And he has the divine protection of the sword saint?! What happened to my mother-in-law?

Heinkel: She is dead or rather killed, by this little monster....twice!

Louanna looked at Reinhard and he started to explain everything.

Heinkel meanwhile went out to inform the Council of wise men about Reinhard's situation.

Reinhard couldn't contain his emotions and told her everything that has happened to him since his mother became ill with the sleeping beauty disease. She was now furious after learning how Wilhelm, Heinkel and the council of wise men treated Reinhard till now. She learned about everything.

In the chamber of the council of the wise men.

Bordeaux: So you mean that Reinhard Van Astrea has lost all of his divine protections.

Heinkel: Yes!

Miklotov: This is really a strange situation...

Bordeaux: Well, I think right now he is no longer the anomaly as he was, he was a existence against the very laws of nature itself. Reinhard Van Astrea was a 'Monster' and right now he is powerless.

Heinkel for some reason wasn't feeling all that good for some reason after hearing what Bordeaux just said about Reinhard. 

Heinkel: So what are you thinking of it?

The wise men looked at each other and Miklotov told Heinkel to fo out for they will now discuss this matter.

Bordeaux: Perfect, right now out of all the times this happened.

Miklotov: Bordeaux.....what are you thinking of it?

Bordeaux: I think we should get rid of him...

The other wise men got shocked by what he just said.

Miklotov: Bordeaux, are you out of your mind? Do you even know what you are saying?

Bordeaux: Just think about it, Reinhard who had all the divine protections in the world till yesterday, we even had to make a literal law just for him. He was a walking disaster as no one knew what would happen if he got out of control.

Miklotov: But still...

Bordeaux: We can't wait it out. It is a golden opportunity.

The other wise men however were not in his favour as Reinhard is the symbol of strength in their kingdom.

Bordeaux: Imagine if other nation's get the this knowledge of our kingdom's situation right now. It will be disastrous. The only way to avoid this is get another member of the Astrea family to inherit the title of the Sword saint. 

At this the other wise men demanded to know who will be the next Sword saint the? 

Bordeaux: Heinkel Astrea will be the next sword saint.

Miklotov: Are you crazy? That man is nothing but a stain to the Astrea's as he is always drunk and irresponsible! Why should we even drag this conversation about eliminating the sword saint further!

Bordeaux: May I once again remind everyone that the sword saint now only takes orders from his gutter rat either way. He was ought to be a problem for us in the future by disobeying us. It's just now we got the chance to get rid of him.

Miklotov:.........

Miklotov understood that he can't save Reinhard anymore as all the other members of the council realized what Bordeaux was saying is true. His words stuck fear in their hearts and now they are seeing Reinhard as a threat.

Miklotov: What you peoples are thinking will result in rebellions! This is ridiculous ans absurd!

Miklotov's voice held no power as the other wise men already agreed to Bordeaux's idea. Now they were thinking how it should be executed so no one would object. They then decided to use Heinkel for this job as he was already in a bad relations with Reinhard. They then called Heinkel back in.

Heinkel: So what did the Council decide?

Miklotov:........

Bordeaux: Heinkel, we have a job for you.

Heinkel was now returning as his mind was thinking only about what they wanted to do with Reinhard. They wanted to kill him and get rid of him quietly so no one will no much about it. They also told him that he will be the next Sword saint as he should have been, before Reinhard took it away from him.

Heinkel: Sure I am don't like that little monster but....he is still my son..... Tch...Damn it!

Flam: Heinkel-sama, Louanna-sama is waiting for you.

Heinkel: Oh yeah, lead to her.

Flam then led Heinkel to Louanna. Heinkel went close to her and tried to hug her but she slapped him hard on his face.

Heinkel: Honey?

Louanna: Heinkel van Astrea! What did you do to my son while I was in coma?! What did you do to him?! Answer me!!!

She once again slapped Heinkel and grabbed his collar.

Heinkel: W-wait! 

Louanna didn't want to hear him and slapped him again and again. After sometimes she stoped. Reinhard and Felt took her away as Heinkel stood there completely stunned.

After that day Heinkel reflected on his actions. He started to wonder why did he ever did that to his son, his own flesh and blood.

Day-4 of the apocalypse.

The council of wise men were confused and shocked after seeing a lot of territories around the border stoped reporting to them. They send knights but even they didn't come back and this aroused suspicion of the Wise men. They were already wanting to kill Reinhard and they were planning the aftermaths of it too but niw this issues of them being cut of from the Royal capital was becoming a headache. 

Heinkel: What should I do, what should I do, what should I do, What should I do?!?!? Those damn old geezers wanted an answer today. Oh fuck, I have to get him and Louanna out of here as soon as possible.

Heinkel was going to the Astrea residence but suddenly he saw some peoples running around the streets, they were fleeing from someone or something. Heinkel didn't focus on that and continued his walking towards his home.

Reinhard: Woah....you cooked all that for me?!

Louanna: Yes, my son needs to have his belly filled everyday. Look at how thin you are. I will fix it, by feeding a lot of nutritious food.

Louanna and Reinhards bond became stronger than iron as he spent these days with her. He was experiencing all this for the first time and he was enjoying every moment.  Until.....

Heinkel: Louanna!

Louanna didn't even lookes at him. She was really angry bit Heinkel still needed to get them out of the capital as soon as possible. The suddenly the maids came running in as well a man who grabbed a girl and bite her in front of all of them. 

Heinkel: Huh?....

Reinhard:..... 

Felt: Kyaaaa!!!

Heinkel: You damn wretch!

Heinkel drawed his sword and stabbed it in the unknown mans body but he didn't show any reactions. Heinkel then stabbed him mutiple times but it also didn't have any effect. He then started to rise up,  everyone saw that the maids face has become unrecognizable as no skin is left there as well as huge chunks of flesh from around her neck were also missing. 

Heinkel: If stabbing doesn't work, I guess I will behead you!

Heinkel cuts the undead head of and it dies instantly. 

Reinhard: What is this?!

Grassis: Blegh—!

The other maids started vomiting as they felt sick to their stomach. Felt actually hugged Reinhard and didn't want to look at it. 

Heinkel: What is happening?

Flam: Reinhard-sama! The capital i-it is in chaos!

Heinkel: Huh?

Flam: There were suddenly some weird looking peoples who arrived in the capital and as they came in they started to bite...Sobs...a-and e-eat everyone.

Flam was getting unstable and when ahe saw a maid laying on the floor in such a horrific condition and a beheaded man, she finally couldn't take anymore and fainted.

After this Heinkel and Reinhard went out to see the situation. Louanna and Felt went upstairs and they both with Flam and Grassis locked themselves in room. They were terrified. They layed Flam on a bed and the they started to discuss what should be done and what was actually happening.

Meanwhile Reinhard and Heinkel got ambushed by undead. There number was a lot compared to what they thought.

Reinhard: Grrr!

Reinhard was getting jumped by undead after undead. But his body wasn't as strong as it used to be. Soon he was grabbed and about to be bitten but Heinkel swiftly cuts all their heads easily.

Heinkel: Reinhard! Are you alright?

Reinhard: Y-Yes...cough...father.

Heinkel: We are outnumbered, we have to run and Louanna and everyone in the residence out of here.

Heinkel and Reinhard then started to go towards it.

In the Astrea Royal capital residence.

The maid who was killed by the undead started to rise up in an inhuman manner. A maid noticed it and quickly called all the other maids as they were coming she got close to her to check but then she got grabbed by her to her horror she to has now started to act like the weird men from before as she felt teeth sink into her flesh. She screamed because of the unbearable pain. The maids who came also became frightened, many of them decided they would get out of this place immediately as they ran out of the residence.

Heinkel: Why are you getting out of the House?

The maids paid no heed as they ran out. Reinhard and Heinkel went in hurriedly and saw a bloody mess through the hall room. Some maids and servants are dead and the death of them are not so pleasant as they body has several bite marks and flesh missing from many places. 

Grimm: Reinhard-sama, Heinkel-sama please forgive us for out slothfulness as we didn't reach this place more quickly.

Grimm Fauzen and Carol Remendis appeared before them as they were holding bloodied weapons.

Carol: We rushed to the capital as soon as we got the letter from Flam that Louanna-sama has awakened from her sleep but we only saw chaos everywhere in the capital.

Reinhard: We also saw all the deaths with our own eyes.

Heinkel: Oh......now it makes sense.

Reinhard: What honored father?

Heinkel: Please, just call me father......

Reinhard: Ok......

Heinkel: As I was saying, the capital has lost all contacts with many villages and noble territories around the borders. I learned about it when I went to tell the Council of wise men about Reinhard's situation.

Carol: What situation?

Heinkel:........he lost his divine protections.....all of it....even the divine protection of sword saint.....

Grimm/Carol: WHAT?!?!?

Grimm: Reinhard-sama is that true?!

Reinhard: Y-yes.

Carol: Oh my od! We need to get out of the capital right now.

Grimm: Why? We need to save civili—

Carol: We need to save Reinhard-sama as his life is surely in danger right now.

Reinhard: What are you talking about?

Right then Louanna and the others came down as they heard Grimm and Carols voices.

Carol: L-Louanna-sama! Y-you have....you have waken up....you really got cured!

Carol was really happy to see her awaken and she also understood why Heinkel was behaving himself today as he didn't say anything foul to Reinhard in front of them today.

Louanna: Carol-san, what were you saying right now?

Carol: Oh, as I was saying, we need to get Reinhard-sama out of the Royal capital as soon as possible. Since Heinkel-sama has reported Reinhard-sama loosing all his divine protections, they surely will try to get rid of him as he has been disobeying them a lot lately because of Felt-sama. The council men has realized that if they let this opportunity slip they might not have it back again.

Louanna: W-why would they—

Carol: Because Reinhard-sama is considered a force that broke all laws of nature and can bring disaster to the kingdom and their plans. They were afraid of him all this time. But since they had a literal leash, the collar of subservience around his neck from he was a little kid.

Louanna's eye widened as neither Reinhard or Felt told her anything about this. 

Louanna: Heinkel! Where were you when this was happening?!

Heinkel: Well I—

Felt: It doesn't matter asking him, he does everything that the Council of wise men ask him to do.

Louanna: Oh, so you were the one who out a leash on my son, Heinkel?

Heinkel: No! I-I—

Flamm: Look out!

Heinkel's voice was cut as an undead almost bit Carol on her leg. She aime for it's head and killed it.

Heinkel: Look, we need to hurry because the Council has asked me to kill Reinhard so—

Felt/Louanna: They what?!

Louanna: So you agreed to them!

Heinkel: No! I am a fucked up drunk ass man I admit! But I won't do something like this even if it means I will be killed!

Reinhard at that moment felt a surge of warmth as he looked at Hein—no his father. His aura has also completely changed.

Felt: So what shoukd we do now? I mean the Royal capital is becoming dangerous little by little.

Heinkel: The wise discussion would be that we get out of the capital before this madness gets to us.

Louanna: What about the peoples?

Heinkel: There are guards and knights who could protect it. Louanna, please don't be like this and think about your family will you.

Louanna: Aren't you a knight? Then why aren't you acting like one? Oh yeah, I forgot, you didn't Even take responsibility of your own son while I was in coma and here I am talking about you doing your duty as a knight....you failed as a father, as a husband and now as a knight. Shame on you Heinkel Astrea!

Heinkel:.......B-but still—

Reinhard: No, we will stay here and protect the civilians. Father you can leave the Royal capital.

Reinhard, a hero of the kingdom, the sword saint, could not leave the Royal capital like this. Reinhard was for the first time in life disgusted by Heinkel as he was straight up saying to leave the civilans to fetch for on their own.

Grimm: We also cannot leave as we have our daughter and granddaughter here in the capital. We must protect her too. She also is a civilian.

Heinkel became the villain here as everyone opposed his idea. They then started to go out the house one by one. Heinkel stood there not knowing what to do. In all these years, this was the first time he tried to do some good but it ended up making him a villain in their eyes.

Heinkel:.........

Reinhard was now on the street as he guided the peoples to safety. Even though he didn't have his divine protections, he still had his swordsmen skills. Reinhard tried to use them one a undead and it was a success as he beheaded it in one strike. 

Grimm: Reinhard-sama I will be with instead of Carol. She has gone to get our daughter. Louanna-sama and the others are guiding civilians in the residence for safety.

Reinhard: What about the knights? Why are they still not deployed?

Grimm: It seems that they couldn't reach this place as it is becoming packed with all these monsters.

Reinhard: Atleast the civilians that we are saving are safe.

Little did they know that that they were digging their own graves.

In the Astrea Residence of the Royal capital.

Many peoples have gather, many were afraid, many were frantically thinking about their loved ones, many were tired after running for a long time from the undead and many were Injured. The injured were being treated by healers, except no healers in the capital is able to use magic anymore. In fact Everyone in the capital were debating why no one is even able to use any magic anymore. Even the spirits were gone.

Felt: Everyone! Please remain calm as we arrange peoples into groups of healthy and sick and injured!

The injured peoples who were at the back got in line to be treated but something seems wrong. Their movements were sloppy and suddenly many of them started to vomit on the floor. The peoples who were near them tried to help.

Heinkel: Wait.....the injured are— oh shit, oh shit!

Heinkel then ran towards Louanna amd Felt while grabbing Flamm and grassis.

Felt: Hey old man! Do you think you are also the lolimancer like big bro?! Huh?!

Heinkel: Louanna, we have to run.

Louanna: What? No. i will help them—

Heinkel: Damn women! When I say to run I mean RUN!!!

Heinkel then took them out forcefully. After they got out Louanna slapped her Heinkel and curses at him.

Louanna: You incompetent man! You can't do your duties right doesn't mean that we can't do it too!

Heinkel was just staring at her. Just then screams came out loud. Louanna rushed into the house as Heinkel stood in a daze, as he snapped back to reality he also chased behind her.

Louanna: What is happening here?!

Undead: GRRRR!!!!

Louanna: Kyaaa!!!

Heinkel: Die!

Heinkel came at the right time and Killed the undead. Heinkel then carried Louanna on his shoulder and started to run. 

Heinkel: Fuck fuck fuck why the hell is this happening!!!!!!

As he ran past the doors the undead also poured out of there. Felt, Flamm and Grassis seeing the undead hoard behind them started to also run.

Heinkel: We have to go away as far as we can!!!

Louanna: Oh my od!!! Oh my od!!! What are these monsters! They are eating those peoples!!!

Louanna Faints as she couldn't handle the scenes in front of her.

Felt: This is fucked up! We need to go to Reinhard!

Heinkel: Going to him won't solve anything!

As they we running they saw Reinhard and Grimm returning. 

Reinhard: Why is he running while carrying mother like that? Wait what are those behind him.....

As Reinhard marrowed his eyes he saw a hoard of undead running behind them. 

Reinhard: Felt-sama! I am coming!

Reinhard and Grimm ran towards them. Reinhard then quickly took Felt started princess carrying Felt and Flam and Grassis clinged to Grimm. They resumed their run as they were getting chased.

Heinkel: We are so fucked!.....Hey! Look there! Knights!

Everyone looked down the street as they saw knights were rallying up and killing every undead they were coming across. 

They also saw them coming towards them but instead of showing the ' we will save you face' they showed the there he is!' face.

Knights: There he is!

They really did say it. The knights began to charge towards them. But the moment they saw the hoard behind them they retreated.

Heinkel and the others somehow ran away and saved themselves as they then found a house that they were now using as a shelter. The first thing Heinkel did when they felt safe was check on Louanna.

Heinkel:...huff...huff... We are safe....let's sit. Louanna, darling are alright?

No response.

Reinhard: Mother?

Heinkel then puts her down on a bed near them. He then starts to examine her.

Heinkel: Oh thank the dragon, she is just unconscious.

Grimm: Carol is still out there. 

As he said that suddenly someone came.

Carol: Who's there! 

Grimm:........Carol?

Carol: Wait, Grimm? Hahaha you made it! 

Carol hugged her husband as they started to tell each other how they ended up here. The sure were an couple of lovebirds that still love each other as tbey did in their youth.

They then spend the night there as no place was safe. The next day they were going down the road as they intended seek survivors to save. But then a knight came.

Knight: Sir Heink—

Heinkel: You bastards! How dare you try attack us!

Knight: Woah! No, no, no. Sir, we wanted to inform you that Commander Marcos is looking for you.

Heinkel: Where is he?

Knight: At a shelter that knights made overnight.

They then followed the knight to the shelters. They saw many civilians were looking at them, some even spat at them for not protecting them from this disaster.

Marcos: Sir Heinkel, we—

Heinkel: Answer me first! Why the fuck did you send those knights to kill my son?

Bordeaux: It was my order.

Then Bordeaux stepped forward.

Marcos: Sir Bordeaux is the only survivor among the members of the Council of wise men. Now he is the one who commands everything here.

Bordeaux: I know that we have some misunderstanding but we need to be together to fight these monsters.

Felt: What are they even talking about?

Heinkel: A misunderstanding! I am fucking sure that sending all that knights just to hunt down one man is not an misunderstanding.

Reinhard: Wait, you mean they were sent to kill me?

Heinkel: Yes! Marcos here was probably the one who selected those knights to go after us, didn't you Marcos.

Marcos: Why shouldn't I?!?!?! I just realized after all these years that I was deceived by you son!!! He used his stupid divine protection to brainwash me! To make return to being a knight and you are asking me why I did this?!

Heinkel realized what Marcos was talking about. He was talking about the time when Reinhard used his divine protection to change his mind from leaving the Royal knights order. 

Marcos: Answer me you manipulating monster!!! Tell me hiw many more have you manipulated?!

Reinhard: I-I d-didn't—

Heinkel: Hey.....it was my fault.....I was at fault. He was a kid so I should have been the one Controlling him.

Marcos: Cut the crap!

Marcos then unsheathed his sword to kill Reinhard as his life till now was based on manipulation and fabrications.

Felt: Oi! Did you call us here for this?

Bordeaux: Sir Marcos, we called them here to have their help in cleaning the Royal capital of these monsters.

Heinkel understood something was still wrong bit he played along. 

Reinhard: Ok, we will help. This is our duty.

Bordeaux: Then please go to your designated shelter.

As they turned around and started to leave with the knight they came with. Marcos and the knights with him attacked them from behind but Heinkel, Reinhard and Grimm saw this coming from a mile away and deflected their swords.

Heinkel: Do you think we are stupid?

Grimm: Such a behaviour is not worthy of a knight.

Marcos: Kill them at all cost!

They then started to fight, Carol quietly led the girls out after which she also joined in their fight.

As they fought they killed several knights. They knew showing mercy will only make things worse. The fight got out of the camp and now they were fighting in front of the crowd. 

Heinkel:...huff....huff... You call yourselves knights? Ha! You all are cowards. 

Heinkel said that to the knights outside the camp who were still not involved in this fight and were only standing still.

Heinkel: Tch...Everyone! Listen! We, the Astrea family has protected you and you forefathers for generations. Is this how we will now be treated by these fake authority holders of the kingdom?! I, Heinkel Astrea the deputy commander of the Royal guards and the sword saint Reinhard van Astrea, heed for your help!

Hearing this many civilians and young knights drew weapons in their hands as they started to approach Marcos and his knights

Marcos: What are you even doing!? You dumb nitwits! I am you superior!

Heinkel: Not anymore......As of now! I assume the position of the commander as Commander Marcos and Bordeaux has broken the rules of the kingdom by abusing power and trying to kill the sword saint!

Bordeaux: Y-you can't do this! There is no such law that allows this!

Reinhard: But now it does.

As Reinhard said it the knights and civilians on their side started to attack Knights on Marcos and Bordeaux's side. After sometimes they got defeated and captured. 

Heinkel: I had followed you peoples orders like a dog....just so my family could be safe....just to save my wife and what you did? You fucking tries to kill my son.

Bordeaux: Sir Heinkel, please be civil and release me at once, this is not right!

Heinkel: I will show you what's right.

As Heinkel said that he drew his bloodied sword and beheaded Bordeaux.

Heinkel: From now on, I will command this place! Now, let's go and barricade the roads.

The knights then started to follow his lead and took everything that can be used in barricading the roads.

Chapter Text

Heinkel has was now in command. He had barricaded the place well but he was still in a dilemma since it has no guarantee to protect them in a long run.

"Well I should just hope for the best"

Just as he said that, he remembered that he has to go back home since he hasn't been available to his family since he started building this barricade.

At the evening around the camps. Reinhard was strolling around and checking on the survivors. As he was strolling he saw Heinkel.

" Father?..."

Heinkel sees Reinhard and comes near him."

Reinhard, how are you feeling today?" Heinkel asked Reinhard with a smile.

"I am feeling good since mother takes good care of me, she doesn't like me skipping meals so now I have to eat three times a day now"

Heinkel, who was only eating once a day and barely having his stomach filled got kinda jealous of his own son.

The father and son started to walk towards a house which was now being used by them. 

"So your back, Heinkel?"

Louanna said before when Heinkel was entering. Heinkel was now having chills down his spine as Louanna narrowed her eyes towards him.

"Honey I'm sorry alright! I'm sorry for being an asshole!" Heinkel spilled out.

".......ok just get in and eat something and take a rest before you die, you don't look too good so I will not say anything right now" Louanna said as she could see how tired Heinkel looked.

She then took her son and her useless husband in.

At night Heinkel finally got some sleep. Louanna was sleeping with felt in a separate room and was in deep thought.

"Can I ever forgive Heinkel?......should I do it or not?.....No! Absolutely not!!! He did so many terrible things to my little angel!....but he does look like repenting for these but still I can't just forgive him like this.....I think I will wait....". As she thought about it her eyes closed soon and she drifted into sleep....deep sleep.

Back to the present.

Louanna woke up and saw her son, Felt and Rom standing.

"Mother we gotta move, now!" Reinhard said as he grabbed her hand and went started walking out.

"What is happening and why are you injured?" Louanna asked."Louanna-sama! Heinkel-sama and the others are coming this way!" Flamm suddenly came in with Grassis and delivered the news. "Is carol-san and Grimm-san with him too?" Louanna asked while Reinhard and Rom hurried to the door.

"Kid! I'm getting the planks and everything heavy down and you go to the door and wait till they arrive."Reinhard nodded and took the dragon sword Reid with him.

"Hey mister! How long till we reach your house?!" Kadomon was now getting tired from running. Heinekl was only focusing on escaping.

"Shut your mouth and keep up with us!" 

They then started to run throught the streets and saw many civilians were also running. 

"Father!!!"

Heinkel saw Reinhard screaming as he opened the door.

"Thats the place! Everyone go!"Heinkel instructed them but he was now almost out of breath, so as everyone. 

The normal civilians who were running around now saw Reinhard who opened the door for his father and his accomplices to get in also started to run at their direction.

" Look! The sword saint has opened his house doors for us to hide!!!" A mischievous man screamed to everyone and they also saw Reinhard standing besides the door to the house.

Everyone then started to run towards him to seek shelter in that house.

"W-wait! Plea—" His words couldn't even come out as he was hit with a dozen of people’s who were trying to get in. They scrambled in, Reinhard became worried as his father had not shown up. He did his best to stick keep standing by the door. His eyes were now scanning throughout the crowd of people and he successfully spotted his father and his accomplices coming in.

"Reinhard! Close the door!" Heinkel screamed as he and everyone with him were now in.

"But there are so many civilians coming in! We have to save them!" Reinhard said to Heinkel. Heinkel then looked him in the eye with a regretfully and opened his mouth.

"Son, always remember that no matter what it costs, no matter the sacrifices you have to do....family always comes first....." 

As Reinhard heard his father, he understood that he has to, he ought to do the thing that will save them and the people that already got in.

The undead have now reached the crowd of civilians and they have started to become their prey. Reinhard saw the people with hope coming towards him to survive this nightmare and also saw the undead behind coming in close. 

"I....I'm sorry"

Is all Reinhard cod say with a low and cracking voice before he forcefully shut the door in front of all the civilians who were trying to come in.

"I'm sorry......I'm sorry...I h-had to do it..."

Reinhard said those words with a broken heart as he heard the innocent people behind the door screaming for help, they were begging him to open it.....they were screaming for mercy.....but the door didn't open for them, tears ran down Reinhard's eyes. After sometimes everything became quiet.

Rom came back with the heavy planks and stuck it on the door. Grimm and Kadomon took Reinhard upstairs.

"The fuck even happened?!"Felt shouted at Heinkel and the others as after she saw Reinhard's mental state.

Louanna on the other hand didn't say anything to them as he saw her husband standing in a corner lowering his head. She understood that he couldn't do much about it too.

Carol Remendis was now organizing the survivors of that came in. The survivors however panicking because there were so many undead outside and no one knew how long this door would stop them from entering.

"Are you hungry?"Flamm asked Plum and Plum nodded.

"Alright, we have some jerky, would you like some? I know that it might not be much but...it is what it is" Flamm said as she thought of how they were going to sustain themsleves with the remaining food that they have.

As she was thinking about it they reached the kitchen but saw some strangers looking for something there.

"Hey! What are you doing here?" Flamm asked the strangers and they looked at each other before a young boy answered."Umm...we were looking for something to eat young lady, is there anything for us to eat here? It would be really kind of you"

The boy looked at Flamm with pleading eyes.

"Ok but please do not enter the kitchen like this again" Flamm then took out some jerkeys and gave some to the strangers and gave some to Plum too.

The condition of the Reinhard has come under control to some extent. Heinkel, Grimm and Rom were trying to figure out how they can escape. If they were to be the only ones escaping from this rotten place, then it would have been a piece of cake for them but unfortunately now they got a butt load of survivors with them who are trusting them with their lives.

"Heinkel-sama, we have some problems with food supplies as they are not sufficient enough to even last us two days." Flamm comes in and says to Heinkel. Rom heard this and with all his life experience, he understood that they had to leave this place today at any cost before they ran out of supplies.

Luanna, Carol, Felt and Raksha were giving out supplies to the survivors. The survivors in the house were getting to eat and drink so they were ooperating with them...........for now. 

"Alright so first we will bait all these.....undead into gathering in one place and when majority of them are in one place we will escape using the the barricaded that has been broken and before we go, we block it so that we get enough time to run" Rom explained his plan to everyone.

"I will be the bait then"

Reinhard suddenly says to them and Heinkel objects to it.

"No! Absolutely not. Your mental state is not in the right, so you will not do something so reckless. I will be the one doing it. You can guide the survivors and protect while escaping alright."

Reinhard looks at his father for a few seconds before saying"No...I will do it...I have to attone for the sin.....for the sin of abandoning all those innocent peoples who were at our our doorstep and I let them die....."

Heinkel was feeling horrible.

" But it was a necessary, son it was something that had to be done in order for us to survive".

Reinhard listened to his father and shouted at Heinkel saying"And saving them was my duty, my job and the reason for my existence for what I have known from my childhood!"

Heinkel lowered his head in shame as he knew that he was solely at fault here.

"Reinhard-sama, there is no time in quarreling as we have to do it at daytime as we will have difficulty at Nighttime"

Grimm said as he knew that holding their position here for any longer is will hust worsen the situation. Reinhard and Heinkel then looked at each other and nodded. Rom then went out of the room to tell Felt and the others if this plan.

A few moments later all of them arrives and Louanna objects at this plan as this was too dangerous. But after some persuasion by Heinkel she agreed. Now they were all getting ready to bust out of the Royal capital. Rom and Felt told every survivors in the house about the plan and everyone agreed to it.

"Father, everyone is ready." Reinhard told Heinkel and he nodded after which he got out of the house through a window.

"Reinhard, wait for my signal and then get out of this place as fast as possible alright"

Heinkel told Reinhard before jumping down. 

The streets were now bloodied, there was blood and chunks of flesh and half eaten bodies everywhere. Heinkel navigated throughout the street. Heinkel then reached his designated spot and prepared himself.

"Alright Heinkel, you can do it, for your family."

Heinkel then shouted with all his might to attract the undead around him.

"Hey!!! You sick motherfuckers!!!Come and get me!!!"

This was enough to attract all the undead around that place as it was silents as the sea before Heinkel screamed at the top of his lung. The undead were now rushing towards him and Heinkel then started to run away to clear up a safe path for his family and the survivors to escape.

"Motherfuckers!!! I wish I could fuckings rip out all of you head you sorry ass piece of shits!!!"

Heinkel said as he ran and ran. Heinkel then looked back to see the situation and he instantly regretted as he saw almost all the undead in that area running after him which meant there was no room for him to fight back as the moment he stops, he gets mauled by them.

"Oh my fucking Od! I will never fucking act as a bait! Fuck why are there so many of them!"

Heinkel now ran on pure survival instincts as he saw death closing in on him and if it does catch up on him, it will be a horrible death.

"This way! Everyone go! Don't look back, we gotta hurry!"

Rom was now leading everyone out. Grimm has was with Rom to defend him against any inpcoming undead. Reinhard and Carol were at the rear, guarding everyone and were primarily responsible for protecting them from the back and helping the people who gets fallen behind.

"I think I should get to the broken barricades. Hopefully all of them have escaped and Rom,Kadomon and Reinhard are still there waiting for me."

After some thinking, Heinkel then started to run towards the escape route. He thought that he had bought enough time for them to escape.

"We have to clear the paths up!" Grimm shouted as undead came at him but his wife took care of them before they could even come in touch with him.

"Honey! You shouldn't over exhaust yourself! We still have a long road to cross so save some stamina!"

Carol then replied to him by saying"Let me focus!"

Carol was slicing them up like butter but her age and physical limitations were catching up to her. Luckily more than a dozen of the survivors with them were knights and they too started to back Carol up.

"When is he coming?"

Kadomon asked Rom in which Rom didn't reply. Reinhard was getting nervous as from a young age to now he didn't receive much love from his father or grandfather, so his father suddenly becoming so caring towards him was something he longed for throughout his life and now that he had it, he was afraid losing it....again. Then as they were waiting they saw their group coming back towards them.

"What the hell? Why are they coming back this way?"

Rom was dumbfounded after seeing them coming back at their direction as this was not in his plan.

"Reinhard-sama, we had to retreat because there were too many undead ahead and we couldn't deal with them"

Carol reported their cause of retreat which made Rom realize that he didn't take the undead that were beyond the barricade. He was now panicking as he knew that they might loose this life and death battle against these undead.

"Hey!!! I'M COMING!!!" 

Everyone then saw Heinkel coming but he has a massive hoard of undead running after him, the amount of undead there was something no one till now have ever encountered.

"Get ready to block this path!" 

Rom told everyone and they assumed their position. Louanna was sweating bullets as he saw Heinkel running from those undead behind him.

"On my word!...….........NOW!!!"

As soon as Heinkel passed the broken barricade Rom, Reinhard and Kadomon pulled out a big support beam that was supporting most of that structure and as soon as they pulled it out, domino effect trigged there. The whole barricade stucture fell infront of them which blocked of the undead coming after them.

"Fuck I thought I would die!"

Heinkel was now cheering for himself for surviving being a bait.

"I think I now know how that kid named Subaru feels whenever he becomes a bait." 

Heinkel was laughing awkwardly but then out of nowhere Louanna sprinted towards her and hugged him tight.

"Don't ever do something like that! Do you know how worried I was!"Louanna said to Heinkel

Heinkel laughed it off. Reinhard was also happy for his father and mother but then he saw Rom staring at the broken barricade structure.

"Is their any problem here?" Reinhard asked Rom in which he replied by saying,"We need to leave....now."

Reinhard couldn't understand until he heard some noise and looked up. He them saw an undead fall infront of him. 

"Oh my od, run....Run!!!" 

Reinhard shouted to everyone as he started to fall back.

The undead were blocked by the barricade but still now that tha barricade structure was fully broken and it had now been reduced in size. The undead had started to pile up infront of it one after another, thus creating a pile of undead that other undead could use to climb up and cross the broken barricade structure.

The undead were now falling in front of them one after another and they were also getting up from the ground slowly. Seeing thi Everyone started to run with all their saved up energy. Reinhard, Grimm, Rom and Kadomon were up ahead clearing up any undead in the way.

Rom now being in their group have increased their chances to cross over the undead without retreating like they did earlier. The knights in their group were also shielding the unarmed survivors to their best. Carol was with these knights.

Louanna was carrying both Flamm and Grassis while Raksha carried Plum. Even though Felt was running without her divine protection or using mana, she was really good at it and she was keeping up with their pace quite greatly.

Heinkel however was covering them from the back.

"There is a bridge up ahead, after crossing it Reinhard, Louanna and the other people's will be able to directly get to the main road. They will be able to escape......but they sure will need time......."

While thinking about this he remember what he told Reinhard to make him close the door on all those people

"No matter what it takes......"

Heinkel then slowed down to let the everyone in front pass the bridge first. Heinkel kept a safe distance from them. They actually passed the bridge sooner than Heinkel expected as he the realised how fast he had ran with them before slowing down.

Reinhard swang his sword and killed every undead that came in front of them, after sometimes he and everyone else were now on the main street of the Royal capital. Now they could leave escape easily.

"We did it! Now we can finally escape from this place!"

Kadomon said excitedly to everyone, but the danger was not over as there were undead all over the street.

The undead growled as they closed in. Reinhard while fighting them thought of something.

"Wait.....why haven't the other monsters that followed us showed up till now?Thank od if they also arrived then we would have died for sure.But where is father?"

Reinhard then ran to the back of since Rom and grimm were enough to charge through the undead that came in their path. 

Reinhard came to the back of all of them but didn't see Heinkel.

"Father!......Father!........FATHER!!!"

As Reinhard called for Heinkel loudly, everyone heard him. Louanna was became worried.

"Why is Reinhard calling Heinkel in the middle of all of this?"

"Hey! Did any of you see where my father is?"

Reinhard asked all the survivors at the back. Hearing Reinhard's question everyone present at the back shook their head in no.

"Kid! We gotta move! We can't stand here all day!"

Rom came to Reinhard to see why he was standing there.

"Wait.......oh no......OH OD NOOOOOO!!!!!" 

Reinhard then tried to run towa the bridge but Rom grabbed him.

"What do you think you are doing?!"

"My father is at the bridge! Stoping those monsters from coming here!"

Everyone heard what Reinhard said.

Louanna too heard it and her eyes widened instantly with fear as she understood what this Reinhard wanted to say.

"Noooo!!!"

Louanna started to run towards the bridge but Grimm caught her.

"Noo!!! Leave me!!! I have to go!!!" 

Louanna cried uncontrollably as she did not want hee husband to suffer such a cruel fate

"I have to go!!! Please release me!!! Father!!! I have have to save my father!!!!!"

Reinhard thrashed but Rom did not let him leave, suddenly an undead jumped towards them but Rom killed it in one strike.

"Kid we have to leave! Your fathers sacrifice will be for nothing if we don't escape!"

Reinhard argued back to Rom.

"No! I can't leave like this!"

Rom then forcefully took himand started to run away as undead were gathering up around them.

Reinhard and Louanna's cries were heard by everyone present. Now in front of everyone, Reinhard was not the sword saint at that moment but a kid who is crying helplessly for his father. 

"Od! Please! Please let my father live!!! Please don't take him away! I don't wanna lose anyone else!!!" 

Reinhard begged the Od while crying like crazy. His whole world was becoming dizzy now. He was going to loose another member of his family while he couldn't do nothing. 

"You fucking pricks!!! Die!!!!!"

Heinkel had killed a lot of undead and now they were pilling up. Heinkel had a great advantage as the bridges was narrows enough to make the undead come in small amount of number in a line.

"Fuck.......Reinhard....you better make it worth it....."

Heinkel reached his limit as he knew he would not survive much longer but he still had to stop them from crossing the bridge somehow as there were potential thousands of undead in front of him. If they get to cross this bridge, then his family might not survive as they still might not be much far from this place.

"I...huff…I will not fall…huff…I have been a fucked up drunk sorry excuse of an father…huff…a worthless son…huff…and a weak and pathetic husband until now…huff…huff…but not anymore...... I will never let you reach my son and my wife while I am breathing!!!"

As he said that, dozens of undead came charging. Heinkel Astrea was now defending his family and the remaining survivors of the capital alone.

But then suddenly out of nowhere a terrifying roar shook the Royal capital.

The undead didn't stoped because of it though. As Heinkel accepted his fate suddenly a figure came at the speed of the wind and killed the incoming undead in a blink of an eye.

".......wha.....what?......who are you?...."

The figure turned back.

"Fa......father?......."

Fresh tears started to flow through his cheeks as he saw that his savior was none other than his own father.

"Heinkel, go aways from here and take a rest. Let this old man handle these undead."

Wilhelm spoke with authority. Heinkel immediately retreated.

As Wilhelm was about to charge ahead, a small figure came in with a big sword and killed several undead in every swing and soon cleared up the bridge but the other undead behind the bridge now also started to rush in.

"What are you friggin' humans still doing here? Start moving your friggin' asses!"

Wilhelm did not argue with the Dragonkin. 

"Heinkel, come here"

Wilhelm then supported Heinkel as he was too weak to even stand. His exhaustion has caught up with him.

"Please......save them...."

Is all Heinkel could say before falling unconscious.

"Madelyn-san would you be kind enough to help this old man save his family?"

Wilhelm asked the Dragonkin.

"Geez! Don't be so friggin dramatic, I will help you since you are begging me to help you."

They then started to go towards the main street.

"The divine dragon Volcanica is here!!!"

The survivors joy knew no bound as they saw the divine dragon itself clearing all the undead around them.

"Reinhard!"

Reinhard looked at the source of the call and saw Subaru coming.

"Subaru?....."

"Yes it's me. Is Felt with you?"

Reinhard nodded as Felt came sprinting from the crowd towards Subaru and hugged him tight.

"Big bro! You came to save us! I can't believe it!"

Subaru pets her head gently as he was happy to see her and Reinhard safe.

"Where are your other family members?"

Subaru asked Kadomon to which he pointed towards her wife and her daughter.

"Kid! I can't believe you care for som much!"

Subaru shrugged it off by saying,"Yeahhhh....enough with the chit chats, we gotta move, I can't you peoples staying here any longer. Reinhard, don't worry about your old man, Wilhelm-san and Madelyn went to rescue him ok."

Hearing this Reinhard and his mother took a breath of relife.

"Oi! You friggin' human! Did you find the people you were looking for? If you did then let's friggin' go!"

Everyone looked at the direction of the voice and saw a small girl wilding a big sword and Wilhelm astrea carrying his son.

"Father/Heinkel!"

Both Reinhard ans Louanna ran towards Heinkel and Wilhelm put him down from his shoulder. Before they could continue with their reunion, they saw the hoard of undead from the bridge coming towards them. Subaru seeing such a large number of undead instructed everyone to run as fast as they could. 

"Oh friggin' damn it! I'm going to obliterate these friggin' undead!!!"

Before she could move toward the hoard, Subaru grabbed her and started to run as he. Seeing him run, Reinhard put Heinkel over his shoulder and started to run. Volcanica noticed it and attacked the undead coming towards them to buy time.

"Fucking hell! We gotta get the fuck out of here as fast as we can!"

Everyone ran with all they had, Subaru and Rom were the ones running in the front.

"Why are you friggin' not fighting?!"

Madelyn asked Subaru annoyed.

"Because I won't risk you getting bitten!"

Subaru screaming at her made her flinch as no one said something to her like this with such authority and so up close.

Subaru pulled his axe out and cleared all the undead that came in front of him. As he ran he found himself at the broad street with all the other survivors. Subaru's instinct screamed at him as he knew something was about to go wrong. They ran through the street but their running caused a lot of noise and that noise attracted all the undead around the alleyways and houses. Undead broke through the window and started to fall in front of them. When they tried to tackle that, undead from the alleyways swarmed them.

"Rom-ji! Take this girl and run! I will clear the way! Everyone run with all you have amd don't look back!"

Subaru instructed everyone and they started to run behind him. The knights were also around Subaru, clearing the path with him. But evem with this kind of pure instinct driven perfect formation was not enough to save all of them. The undead jumped on survivors who were falling behind, knights who tried to fight them of but were outnumbered. They soon began to loose both men and peoples.

"Shit! At this rate we will loose of all the survivors with us before we even get out! Fuck I gotta do something!"

Subaru brainstormed thinking of a way to save as many people as he can and he then thought of a plan that could either backfire on him or save most of the survivors. He saw a two way street. Both would lead outside as much as Subaru knew.

"Wilhelm-san! Go left with everyone!"

Wilhelm heard him and was confused.

"What do you mean Subaru-dono?"

"Just take the leas and run to the left!!!"

Wilhelm didn't question further and sprinted ahead of Subaru and moved left while Subaru slowed down. Subaru saw everyone leaving as they saw Subaru just standing in front of the right street looking at the undead running with ferocity.

"Come and get some bitch's"

Saying that Subaru pulled out his other axe and stuck incoming several undead around their neck area. Subaru was gaining experience with his axe which resulted in him becoming more skilled and accurate with two axes. The undead hoard seeing this charged towards Subaru and Subaru seeing this ran on the right street.

"Fuck! It worked! I successfully distracted the undead hoard"

Subaru ran thinking he could outrun them easily as he had already left them behind, though he could still hear them running after him. Subaru ran and ran through the street as he knew the exit was close but then he forced stoped himself as he saw the road was blocked by fallen houses.

"Oh no........"

Subaru looked for a way out but he saw none. He then started shake with fear as he realized that he hit a dead end and there is no Return by death this time to save him this time. Subaru's hand shook with fear as he remembered how the rabbits back at the sanctuary ate him. He became terrified and firmly gripped his both axe tight. He realized he had miscalculated and now he was about to pay.

"Oh god.....no....please no......w-why did I even come here at first place...."

Rumblings began to be heard as undead have reached that place the undead hoard this time had a wider road so they came in way more in number. So much so that they crashed into the blocked road and many undead in the front were squashed by the pressure from the back. But oddly, they couldn't find Subaru anywhere.

At a safe distance on the roof of a house.

"Damn.....I was fucked......thank you for saving me........of shit.....S-Sirius?!?!? Wha-why the fuck are you here and why did you save me?!"

Sirius didn't answer, just stared at him. She the droped the hood at revealed silver hair underneath with a face with under the bandage that was white as snow just as Emilia. Unlike the previous time, her face had now less bandages which allowed Subaru to see her face a little.

"You are.....you were with Emilia right?......"

"........Yeah.....but why are you asking that now?...."

Subaru tightly gripped his an axe with his left hand as he knew that letting his guard off in front of an archbishop would likely get him killed.

"Is she safe?"

Subaru got confused to that question as he clearly remembered how much she hated Emilia after just seeing her.

"Why are you asking these stuffs?"

Subaru asked as he grew suspicious of the archbishop. He then thought that maybe she too wants to do the same thing that Petelgeuse wanted to do with Emilia.

"Just answer me"

"........she is safe but I won't tell you her whereabouts"

Subaru was kinda sweating because he might just die here to her hands. But he saw her breath with relife which confused Subaru even further. 

"We have to leave this place, I know the way out. Don't ask any questions and follow me. We will be out of here her in a few moments then."

Subaru was stunned by her way of speaking with him but he couldn’t do anything else except comply. As he was about to follow Sirius, she fell down due to weakness.

"Did you just fall because you are too weak to even walk? You just moved so quickly with me out there a moments ago and now your on the floor? Great! Just absolutely great!"

Subaru then put his axe aside and started to carry her. 

"I apologise but you have to bear with it as I am too weak right now. I can still guide the way though."

Sirius then started to guide Subaru out. Subaru then followed the path showed to him and soon he came out of the Royal capital but before going out, he looked back at the city one last time.

"This marks the end of Lugunica."

Saying this he carried on.

At the border of Vollachia and Lugunica.

A little elf girl is seen crossing the forest.

"Finally, I have made it into Lugunican territory......I still have a long road ahead, I have to reach Sanctuary, I must reach that place."

Sphinx had a goal as she crossed the border, to reach the sanctuary in the Mathers domain.
