Summary
“Mumbo stop!” Impulse shouted as Mumbo banged on the door. “You’re going to hurt yourself!”
Mumbo didn’t answer, just continued pounding on the door. He had to get out. He had to get out. He had to get out, he needed to help.
“Why are you so upset?” Impulse asked. “It’s just a watcher.”
Mumbo stopped for a moment, slowly turning around to face Impulse.
“His name is Grian.” He snarled. “His name is Grian, and he’s not just a watcher. He’s my friend. And I’m not going to let you hurt him.”
AKA: I am getting magic man Mumbo brainrot inspired by a fic I recently finished, and here's the result: A new multi-chapter fic for me to work on. (Previous fic not need to understand this, but please read the beginning note)
*Currently being edited, final result will be posted eventually

Summary
Mumbo doesn’t say anything for a moment, and Grian doesn’t look at him - until a hand gently clasps over his shoulder. “Things do change,” he starts. “We’re both growing as people, Grian, and you’re dealing with memory loss and the things the Watchers have done with you. And it’s not always going to be easy.”
“Comforting,” he mutters, and the hand tightens ever so slightly - not painfully so, just added pressure.
“It doesn’t mean it’s going to change for the worse, mate.” Mumbo squeezes his shoulder once more, before letting go.
Or: Grian and Mumbo have finally been reunited after being torn apart - but they have a lot to learn after almost three years of being separated, and Grian has to figure out just where his place is among the Hermits.

Summary
There's something about Grian that isn't quite right. In a way that no one can even imagine putting into words, they all notice it all the same. The way that if you catch him out of the corner of your eye, you can swear that he has a dozen pairs of wings.

He froze. He wasn't surprised. He hadn't hid from Scar that well. The flame in his hand flickered.

Summary
Grian finds it upsettingly easy to remember how to walk in the void. Not that it’s a hard thing to do – you just swing down into the darkness, and expect there to be something to stand on, and there is. Easy! It’s an easy little trick.
The hard part, of course, is getting that little touch of other in your bloodstream that’s necessary to make the void to listen to you. The upsetting part of ‘easy’, of course, is exactly the same: that other is still there, inside him. He’d half hoped… but no. No, it’s still there, and that’s a good thing, he tells himself, firmly enough he almost believes it.
It’s good, because he’s going to need it, if he wants to get Scar back.
(In which Grian stages a rescue of sorts, Boatem's single collective braincell is nowhere to be found, and absolutely no lessons are learned by anyone. Especially not by Grian.)
