Scott had been absolutely ripping Blackwell a new one in the presses, he was impressed the man hadn’t gotten censured yet. Then again, there seemed to be some sponsor going around that even Blackwell couldn’t shut down, supporting free presses that were publishing as they pleased, instead of the news outlets that were just trying to stay on the Council’s good side.
Not that Zed cared. He only saw those things pop up as notifications while he was navigating his phone to his and Tango’s text feed.
He’d been texting Tango every day for the entire month…and he wasn’t about to claim he didn’t hope, just a little bit, that each time his thumb hit that little paper airplane, the text would go through. Somehow, by some miracle, they’d break through the bedrock that was layering itself beneath his feet. Crashing. Crumbling.
But why did I have to let this happen again?
