“Yeah okay, thank you Darryl.” Carol says, swinging her bag over onto her shoulder. “Talk to Mr. Walker about getting a new tutor or something, Close, I can’t work with you.” Glenn sits up quickly.
“What- are you kidding me? You’re ditching me because I got mad you were snooping around in my business? How is that reasonable?” Glenn retorts, angry now. If he didn’t at least have a steady tutor thing going on than Jodie would actually learn to lay off with his grades. Part of Glenn was doing it so Jodie would stop annoying him and part of him was doing it because…well he could see the look Jodie was giving him while reading his report card. Dad wasn’t home, he didn’t give a shit otherwise, and Mom wasn’t answering calls and she wanted nothing to do with them now. Glenn wasn’t disappointed about that, he wasn’t he really wasn’t.

soulmate au: a constellation appears progressively on your body the more you interact with your soulmate.
“It’s strange,” Carol had said once, watching the way the stars knit themselves together. “I know some people get weird constellations, but I don’t recognize any of these stars.”
“Well, neither of us know much about astronomy,” Darryl pointed out and Carol let out an unsure hum.
“I guess so.”
Darryl never recognized the stars either, even once the mark was complete. The constellation was larger than most, tracing out a shape that he had no hope of identifying with some stars scattered around it. Carol said it reminded her of a canine, but to Darryl, it just looked like a box with some lines sticking out of the ends. Despite her best efforts, Carol never found a constellation that matched Darryl’s mark. He did his best to not overthink it.

"It's a sad one," Darryl admits.
"Ah. Okay." Glenn places in his lap and watches Darryl.
Darryl takes in a deep breath as he prepares himself to remember all the details of that night. He didn't even know if he wanted to tell this, but these guys were his friends. They deserved to understand why he was being silly.

"I can see it," she said, and kissed the corner of his mouth. "You're radiant with it. I haven't seen you in new love in years."
Upon their return from the Forgotten Realms, Henry and Darryl each have a lot of things to sort out about their relationships with their wives, themselves - and each other.
