“No,” Genya growls. “Survivor. You think her sisters wouldn’t see through that immediately? Kanae and Shinobu would destroy us. Like—obliterate, disintegrate, wipe-us-from-history destroy us.”
Ume pauses, considering it. “Yeah… Shinobu scares me.”
“Good,” Genya mutters. “Because I’m terrified.”
Ume places her foot against Genya’s thigh to keep her steady while she starts applying another coat of purple polish to Genya’s own nails. “Well, then what can you do? You don’t have any money, and Christmas is in two weeks.”
Genya groans, leaning back until her head bumps against Ume’s dresser. Her life feels like a long, irritating prank the universe is playing on her personally.
(Or: After losing all her money in a bet, Genya is left to figure out what to give her older sister for christmas now that she’s a pathetic broke mess.)

Summary
The movie opens with a bang—two characters already mid fight, shouting insults and threats towards each other. Sanemi doesn’t understand a second of it.
Genya, on the other hand, makes no effort to feign even a fleeting interest. Her finger traces little circles against his side, slowly dancing higher to his chest. Her nail presses against his skin, tracing the rough outline of his scars through the thin fabric of his shirt.
Sanemi suppresses a shiver, trying to stay focused on the ridiculous movie, but Genya is unrelenting. She tilts her head up, pressing a hot, slow kiss to his jaw. Sanemi’s breath shudders, his entire body tensing. He tries shooting her glare, but she just nips gently at his neck, her hand drifting to lower to slide beneath his shirt, palm splaying out against his stomach.

“Can… Can I…” Genya trails off, her voice turning into an embarrassed squeak. There’s a long pause before she takes a slow breath and tries again. “Can I ask you something… personal?”
“Of course you can,” Sanemi answers immediately, thumb still stroking Genya’s cheek. “You can ask me anything.”
Genya swallows hard, hesitantly meeting Sanemi’s gaze. “Have you… Have you ever…” she cuts herself off, ducking forward and burying her face back into Sanemi’s chest. “Nevermind.”

“Mm,” Genya whimpers. Squeezing her eyes shut and gracefully rolling on her side. The ten year old shuffles her legs up and hugs them to her chest, thin wiry arms locking the limbs into place. “I don’t wan’ get up.”
Sanemi sighs, tossing down the blanket in a crumple. He sits then at the edge of her shabby twin bed, his sudden weight causes her to jump slightly as the springs scrunch and pop. But the girl steadfastly keeps her eyes shut.
