Jo glances down at the caller and is shocked to see Nate’s name. He and Nate haven’t spoken in years aside from the occasional text. They definitely hadn’t spoken on the phone in a long time, not since their first year apart, Nate blowing up the NHL and Jo stuck back in Halifax.
“Hello?” Jo says tentatively.
“Hey,” Nate says easily. “It’s Nate.”
“Hi,” Jo replies. They both fall into awkward silence.
“How are you doing?” Nate finally asks. “Summer going ok?”
“It’s fine,” Jo says. “Long offseason, you know how it goes. How - uh, how are you?”
“Really good,” Nate says, and Jo can hear the smile on his face. “Actually, I’m in Ibiza right now with some of the guys. Chilling on the beach, sleeping in, super relaxing.”

David doesn't want to play the Maple Leafs. It'll mean that either him or William will end up having going home after the First Round. But there is nothing David can do. The Senators beat the Bruins 3-1 and the Panthers beat the Leafs 5-2. Florida stole Boston's spot at the top of the division in the process. They all knew how the playoff format worked. The Bruins would play the Leafs again.

The new cuts on his back were infected. He knew they were the second he was forced onto his back in the dirty straw. He knew the infection would kill him eventually. At least he had control over where he died.
He waited. He waited for it to come. To fully wrap its tendrils around him and tug him down.
And he felt it, too. He felt its warmth. But it was interrupted by something cold nudging his nose. He forced his eyes open and let his head loll to the side. He hadn’t been expecting death to be so pushy.

Newly married and just having moved into a house of their own (a feat years, if not a decade in the making), Patrice and Brad were just starting to settle into their new town. They both fell in love with Amherst, Massachusetts. It wasn’t close to Boston by any means, but neither of them needed to be - or wanted to be - close to the city. And Amherst wasn’t Boston, but it was still busy. It was the biggest town in the county and it was home to not one but two colleges. Amherst College with its student body of just around 1,800 and University of Massachusetts Amherst with its overall population of just under 24,000 students. There was plenty to do in Amherst, Massachusetts and Patrice and Brad loved it.
