Thorin sighs and his hand finally pulls away from Bilbo’s hair.Bilbo stares at his face and only just manages not to whine at the loss of warmth. (“It was the injury talking. Not me” he tells himself) close. Too close.
Then the words register and the hobbit sputters because how dare Thorin act as if Bilbo was being unreasonable.
“You left me.” The face Thorin makes is almost effective enough to make Bilbo cower.
“You left, Bilbo. In the dead of night. For food.”
“I was hungry.” Bilbo does what he never thought he’d be able to without thinking of his father’s disappointed eyebrow— he grumbles.
“I would’ve come if you had asked.” Thorin answers gruffly. This time he actually sounds offended. Thorin Oakenshield. Offended because Bilbo did not allow him to partake in a side quest for midnight snacks.

This is a fanfic of my own OC Beryl (Barrel) and the story of her journey, accompanying Thorin Oakenshield & Co. on the road to Erebor. The story follows all major plot points of the original novel by JRR Tolkien combined with the Peter Jackson film interpretations, BUT some scenes, characters, dates, and events have been altered in favor of enriching the story I wanted to write. SO please keep in mind, that while this work is based on the original media, it is not meant to be a recreation or copy by any means. All interpretations of Tolkien's original characters are influenced by the film adaptations, but are ultimately my own through their dialogue and relationships to my girl. I do not claim any rights to their names or likeness.
This work is part one of an active and ongoing project, currently sitting at 6/10 planned parts. If this goes well or receives any attention and the readers want more then I'll continue to post from my backlog of finished parts every so often.
