The model clenches her fists, "Why do you have Ingo's hat?!"

“I think,” He starts, getting a purposely blank look on his face–something that tells Cody the man is putting in effort to hide his reaction. “That I am missing a crucial piece of information for this conversation.”

“Wrapping up your what?” Sophocles tilts his head.
When was the Kalos Crisis? When, exactly, was it? The day, the hour, the minute, the second; sometime in the middle of May, death bloomed in the wake of April showers, and Ash knows when. His body does, because it tenses as if preparing for the rapture.
“...Ash?”
“Nothing!” Ash shouts. “Just realized I’m super hot and need to swim so, so bad — I’m just gonna go! Sorry! Bye!”
Sophocles protests, but Ash’s already sunk one foot in the burning sand, tumbling forward into the beach. Brilliant blue waves lap away at children’s ankles, their natural path disrupted — and Ash careens straight into an oncoming wave, only remembering to be excited halfway into the fall.
OR: A year after the Kalos Crisis, Ash finally feels all the emotions he's shoved down.

Ash didn’t know if he screamed, he barely even saw the beam of red light hit. At that moment, none of it mattered anymore. He couldn’t think, couldn’t hear, couldn’t move because it hurt. White hot fire pain coursing through every nerve he had. His eyes were shut, face constricted, and holy shit he didn’t know anything could reach this level of pain. Everything throbbed, he couldn’t move even a little without a million daggers cutting through him. Someone was screaming something that Ash couldn’t even begin to comprehend.
