“I don’t like you that way, Ren,” he says. “We’re never going to be together in the way that you want—romantically, I mean. Please know that this isn’t personal. I understand if you need some space afterwards. And I hope you understand my point of view as well.”
I hope you understand wasn’t in the bullet points, it just slipped out of Akechi’s mouth as he watched the look of confusion spread itself across Ren’s face. Ren’s staring at him. He doesn’t even look dismayed, just astounded. Akechi’s fault. He left matters open to misinterpretation for too long. But there’s nothing to be done.
“But,” says Ren.
Akechi braces himself. Here comes the unpleasant scene.
Ren says, “But I’m straight.”

Summary
When Steve opens his eyes, Eddie is already looking at him. It’s hard to see in the evening light. Everything is dusk and smoke. All of Eddie has been softened by it. His smile lines, the faint bags under his eyes, his hair. It’s all… quiet.
“Hold out for another year,” Eddie says.
“Hmm?” Steve feels like he’s sliding out of clarity. The world is so smooth now. God, he’s high. He laughs. “What’re you talking about?”
“Don’t go to college. Hold out for one more year, Harrington. Then we’re hitting the goddamn road. Me and you.”
Steve waits for Eddie to laugh, to take it back. “You’re serious.”
“Deadly. So?” Eddie offers him the joint.

Summary
Steve huffs. “I have no idea where I am,” he admits.
The guy looks at him and then around the bathroom. “You speaking, like, metaphorically, or?”
Steve throws his hands up, beginning to pace. “Metaphorically, metaphysically, meta-fucking-literally! Yes! All of it, yes!”
“Right,” random guy says.
“I’m, like, so confused right now. One minute I’m at home, looking through some loser’s crap, the next I wake up and shit is, like, fucking weird. I think I’m in hell.”
“So this is like,” random guy pauses in thought. “A religious crisis. You’re Catholic, right?”
(Steve Harrington gets trapped in Stranger Things, an 80s themed horror RPG, and there's only one way out.)

"Connor became ‘woke’, as the kids say, on a biting December morning. Upon careful consideration, he determined it was best not to tell anybody."
List of things Connor has ruined since he deviated: the police force. Hunts for deviants. The printer. Lieutenant Anderson’s patience. Gavin Reed’s kneecap. The sense of safety and security that came when you were not acting as a double agent for the month old yet still unsuccessful terrorist organization and spilling confidential government secrets. The coffee machine. His life.
Mostly his life.
