Hawkins is left fractured--physically and emotionally.
Charlie Munson, Eddie's older sister, returns to the town she escaped years ago after graduation. She never thought she would return so soon after hearing about the death of her younger brother and decides to stay with their uncle again helping him through his mourning.
As Hawkins rebuilds and pretends the past can be buried, Charlie begins to experience what she thought was the continuation of her grieving but in reality, was someone reaching for her, calling out to her from where she would've thought was from the grave.
Grief lingers. Monsters adapt. And some people are never really gone.

... It's a duck.
There's just a tiny bit of magic floating around after Willow ends the Will be Done spell, and it turns the resident captive vampire into a duckling. And he's so adorably angry about it. Question is now... who's going to take care of duckling!Spike? Oh, it's Buffy, of course.
But Spike being a duck doesn't mean everything else goes away. He's got a new perspective, and over time, so does Buffy. Changes to Season 4 grow as time goes on.
I'm sure someone's written something like this before, but I got the idea and here we are. The plot also started to happen, and now I can't stop it.
