Summary
Nicolò set aside the water skins to refill at the river and stood to take off his boots and clothes. As he finished peeling off his breeches and socks, he turned to face the river and froze.
Yusuf had just risen from the water. He stood knee deep in the calm current, clear liquid streaming down his skin, setting him alight in a glittering display, like twinkling stars, as the sun highlighted every perfect feature. Nicolò stood transfixed.
Rivulets of water cascaded all over Yusuf’s body. His skin glowed a deep bronze, giving off an aura of vitality and strength. Water droplets fell from the tight, dark curls at his brow, framing his face in a curtain of water, his beard shimmering in the sunlight, and then in a move that had Nicolò’s heart stopping in his chest, he lifted both hands overhead to sweep his hair off of his face, running them up and back over his head, accentuating his broad chest, covered in a light dusting of hair, that tapered into a narrow waist and deep grooves of muscles that rippled around his rib cage.
Or, Nicolò cannot control his reaction to Yusuf and feels horrible about it, but Yusuf is elated to finally have a sign that his feelings are returned.

It didn’t matter what the message said, just the thought of Sander made his pulse quicken and the butterflies roosting in his stomach roar to life. They were always there, those butterflies, always ready to leap into action and take his stomach from calm equanimity to a free fall, the immediate uneasiness akin to falling off a cliff.
The butterflies lived for Sander. Loved Sander.
Robbe had loved him for so long that it was hard to remember a time when he didn’t want to be near him, to hear from him, to touch him.
Or, Sander takes Robbe on a picnic. Robbe overthinks.

As Eddie took his last sip of coffee, preparing to stand, Buck broke the silence with a hammer straight to Eddie’s heart.
“Thanks, man, for letting me crash your morning. What am I going to do next Valentine’s Day when you’re not here, and I’m invariably single again?” Buck had pasted on a fake smile, but it slipped. He frowned into his empty mug before standing, grabbing the plates from the table, and pulling Eddie’s mug from his frozen hands.
Because Eddie couldn’t move, couldn’t think, couldn’t–
He was shattered.
Broken.
Lying in tiny pieces on the floor.
Because in choosing to follow Chris to El Paso, he was leaving Buck behind.

Summary
Eddie opening the door, casual and filled with a type of swagger Buck didn’t understand. Pantsless. Thighs on display. Flushed and sweaty in his thin button up.
Buck isn’t sure why the memory of that image makes his throat go tight. It didn’t faze him all that much at the time because he had other things on his mind and was sad enough that a true act of divinity probably wouldn’t have gotten a reaction out of him. But now–
Well, now Buck looks at Eddie. Bare legs and a hint of his thighs. That dark mark on the back of his right leg peeking out from the hem of his shorts. Hair mussed and a little damp, curling behind his ears.
The image of the Eddie in front of him now and the Eddie in front of him last night flicker back and forth on top of each other like some kind of montage or old movie reel.
And Buck feels…pink. Caught. Stomach all fizzy and turning.
or, after getting dumped by tommy and going to eddie's, buck wakes up the next morning only to be pummeled by his hangover and his attraction to eddie

Summary
Eddie tries to peek out the windows to see what's out there as he approaches the door, but Buck moves to obstruct his view. "Hey, uh. So. I found … uh, this piece of furniture, on Marketplace. And if you hate it, it's fine. No biggie! I just … it was such a good deal!"
They don't need more furniture. In fact, they actively need less, so Buck wouldn't buy something new without a really good reason.
"Okay, Buck, I trust you. What did you get?"
"It's … I guess, I mean, um. Well, I think you should just come see." Buck turns around before Eddie can reply and heads out the front door.
Eddie stays hot on his heels for barely even one square of sidewalk, stopping in his tracks when he sees the bright red metal frame that's strapped down in Buck's truck bed. It's upright, so Eddie has a clear view of what Buck picked up for them.
It's bunk beds.
Buck and Eddie try to process their grief about Bobby's death and figure out what they mean to each other, all while squeezed into Eddie's two-bedroom house.
