Sister Maggie’s pulse thrums steadily. Her voice does not waver.

The nightmare began when Crowley woke up in Hell.
To most people that would seem like an expected place for a nightmare to start, but to Crowley, even with all its various trappings, Hell was mostly just a place.
“We have a new assignment for you, Crowley,” Beelzebub says. There’s an ominous hum in their voice. For the first time in many eons it sends a shiver down Crowley’s spine. “Directly from the top. We think you’ll find it interezzzting.”
Beelzebub snaps and then they’re gone.
In their place is an angel. Not just any angel.
In their place is Aziraphale.

Crowley squawked and whirled around; Aziraphale shot him an unimpressed look and straightened his coat. “Honestly. I said I’d be over in a minute.”
Crowley scowled. “I thought you’d drive.” It was just then that what Aziraphale had said sunk in. “There are?”
Or: Crowley and Aziraphale are supposed to go down to Atlantis to sort things out after Armageddon, but they get sidetracked, largely because they’re too busy pining to be at all competent.

Summary
He could not recall how much time had passed between the invention of the book and himself owning a lot of books. He had simply woken up one day surrounded by them, as if he always had been.
Crowley had been the first one to point it out. He always was.
Except this time, he had not so much pointed it out as tripped over a pile of them, shouting ”FUCK, Angel, what's the DEAL with all these bloody BOOKS?”
Aziraphale had tutted, put a drink in his hand and miracled up a sofa behind him without answering the question. The sofa was still there. Surrounded by piles and piles of books.

After Crowley leaves, Aziraphale needs a change.
He sorts through his books, makes new friends (or tries to), and discovers the beauty of ansaphones.

Summary
Crowley had always known he wasn’t nice. Nice was a four letter word, and its definition was not one he could fit into. He could twist words and attempt to change all he liked, and he would never find his way into that box.
So he learned to escape it. To flee and turn to nature, backpacking. It was a freedom unlike any other. It was a short but infinite moment where the fresh, breezy air seemed to blow it all away– that was until Aziraphale appeared. Then everything started to go rather downhill.
OR
Crowley misses his bus home after bumping into Aziraphale, leaving the two of them isolated together in a remote hamlet. Running low on supplies (and time, if Crowley wishes to return to work in time to not be fired) the two of them must work out their differences in order to find a way home.
