Summary
Luffy gasps delightedly, head wiping around to stare up at Whitebeard with wide, excited eyes. “Ace tried to kill you too?!” he shouts. Behind him, the party doesn’t necessarily stop so much as pause, focusing in on the growing spectacle before them. Oblivious, Luffy continues on. “How long?”
Whitebeard looks down at the young pirate captain that’s practically vibrating in place. Then he looks to the blond revolutionary that is also staring up at him, gaze considering and keen. Then to his second division commander who now has his face in his hands, ears red where they poke out of his hair. Finally, he glances at the rest of his children, out of loop and confused, yet intrigued, nonetheless.

Or, Ace dies (of embarrassment), Sabo is the dramatic middle child, Luffy is having a blast, and everyone else is just along for the ride.

Summary
Ace stares upwards for a while, trying to understand what the hell he’s looking at. Gramps has never said shit about what the rest of the world’s like, but Dadan scoffs sometimes that the other Blues are weird, and the Grand Line is even weirder, so maybe this is like, some kind of normal bird for wherever the hell they are?
Right on the heels of that muddled thought is the realization the flaming bird is getting closer, circling their battered raft and descending with each loop.
Ace’s heartbeat speeds up. He braces his hands against the boards, heaves himself as much out of the water as he dares, and starts to shout: “Hey! Shoo! Go away, you don’t get to eat them! Go on, fly away you big buzzard!”
There’s a startled squawk, and the bird does back off a bit. But then it just hovers midair, trailing bits of fire as its wings flap. Ace would swear the stupid thing’s head tilts to one side, studying him, probably trying to figure out if he’s a real threat or not.
So he bares his teeth just like the jungle tigers and snarls, “You are not eating my brothers!”

Here's the thing: Staying pregnant for 20 months for plausible deniability was a great plan if you didn't think about how big the baby would look after birth, to the point no one would believe it were a newborn and not, well, a year older. Rouge fought against time itself to keep her baby that same small undeveloped size by returning him to a past state over and over again. It affected him more than she ever knew it would.
Or: Ace has the ability to travel back in time when he dies.

Things couldn't be more wrong (or right?) as the teenager by the name of Luffy, was somehow: A member of the Whitebeard Pirates, Fire Fist Ace's younger brother, while also being Sabo's younger brother, all at once. Somehow, he made it all Sabo's problems.
Sabo, who didn't even remember just who he was before he woke up in the Revolutionary Army's base after his incident.

Summary
When Sabo fails to speak, Ace turns and gives him a smile that's all teeth; mirthless. "It's people like us, 'Bo. The people that hang around the Terminal. We're nothing more than termites."
Vaguely, he remembers Ace telling him something like that a little after they'd become partners. He hadn't really understood it at the time, just that the word made Ace's childish face twist with disdain, so he'd disliked it as well on principle.
Now, Sabo understands perfectly. That budding dislike quickly graduates to hatred.
(snippets of the brothers’ lives after the sake ceremony, except the people are a little meaner, the universe is a little nicer, and sabo has a little more righteous anger stashed away for future use.)

But he's been brought there to have dinner with the Lady Heterodyne, who is smart and pretty and interesting.
That's good.
He's been brought there by Saturnus Heterodyne, because he's under the impression that Gil is the biological son of Petrus Teuful, and thus an excellent potential suitor for his beloved granddaughter.
That's bad.
But Agatha is wonderful, and Saturnus promises to keep Gil's "true parentage" a secret. If Gil is lucky, he might get out of this with a girlfriend, and without getting fed to one of the castle's deathtraps.
Klaus would just like people to not kidnap his son, thank you very much.
