Uneven chunks of hair are missing, like some drunk bastard took scissors to it with a whole lotta anger and too little care, and Wayne’s heart aches.
“I didn’t have anywhere else to go,” Eddie says, eyes damp and lip wobbling, but there’s a stubborn jut to his jaw that Wayne’d recognize in a heartbeat.
“C’mon in, kid,” he says, keeping all that softness he wants to let in behind his teeth, ‘cause he knows that kid’ll run before he lets himself trust anything soft.

A bit of a 'What If' fic. What if some characters didn't die in season 3, where would everyone be come Vecna's curse? And how would Eddie find himself in the mix if he wasn't wanted for murder, if he just wanted to save his missing friend?
