“Very well.” She gestures for them to follow her toward an open area near the bottom of a dais, the top of which is obscured by a red curtain. The ghost stops at the edge of the open area and bows in the direction of the curtain, a gesture far more respectful than the one she just gave the king.
“My Lord, these two would like to make a bet.” She turns back to the king and queen. “Tell our lord what you want to gain from this bet.”
“Information.” The king raises his head proudly and speaks directly to the curtain. “I want to know everything you know about his highness the crown prince of Xianle.”

Summary
At seven years old Wei Ying is sure of two things. One day he will die and see his parents again, and the only person in the entire world that can be trusted is himself. The facts start to get fuzzy between the dogs chasing him, to the men in white and red shielding him from both the dogs and the blistering cold rain.
The facts get even more fuzzy when Xie Lian, the man in white, offers him a once in a lifetime opportunity. The opportunity to be the disciple of a rogue cultivator, just like his mother.
