OR Eddie joins the 118 after Buck is permanently disabled by an explosion at a call. Despite initial tensions, they learn just how important they can be to one another.

“Hmmm?” Eddie doesn’t trust his tongue right now. Best he can do is twist his brows and pull his lips into a thin, questioning line.
“Eyeliner! It’ll go perfect with your whole” he swirls his hands in Eddie’s general direction “thing.”

Buck wears eyeliner for Halloween. He offers some to Eddie, but can’t find the right angle. They end up on the couch.

“Woah! Hey Buck… it’s just me!” Ravi responded with a wavering tone, still in a bit of disbelief at the other man’s state. Eddie looked down at the crimson smear across his vest, sticky on his fingers from where he’d checked the paint.

A lot of information is reveled, and she finally understands what the boy she's come to see as her own has been through.
Or: Buck throws another clot, calls the 118 & Maddie out on their shit, lets Athena hold him as he cries, and then finally talks to Eddie.
