They do their best to become a menace to the Fire Nation as they do so, taking down as many ships as they can. When they stumble across an old Fire Nation cruiser, they expect their usual battle, but instead find a banished Fire Nation prince.

Yet, just when he thought he had it all figured out, Katara made a choice that no one, least of all Zuko, saw coming. Her decision would change everything, pushing them both to face what had been simmering between them for far too long.

Summary
Katara never really cared for the stories, but now, holding the Avatar’s heart in her hand, soaking herself in his blood, she wonders if anyone would notice if she made a few amendments.
First: The avatar is dead
Second: No one can save you
Alternatively: A role reversal AU wherein Katara and Sokka replace Zuko and Azula, respectively. A few changes are made, however. The largest being that the Avatar is dead. The next is that soon, all benders will meet the same fate, including the very one that killed him.
No matter what the people may think, no matter what the history books might say, they will never know that in these fleeting moments, she felt weak.
