Summary
Dean is sick. Has been sick for a few days – ever since they came off their last hunt – and all looks hopelessly bleak as more blood-soaked petals clog his airways. Hanahaki disease is a deadly curse that sees flowers grow and bloom inside a person whose heart is filled with a romantic love for another and the only way to cure it is to have that love returned to them. But Dean is adamant that this person doesn’t love him back and he refuses to speak their name.
If Castiel’s words would impact his condition he would say them loud and proud every day, but that's impossible. There is no way Dean could be in love with a broken-fallen angel. He wishes he was the one who contracted the wretched curse just to take away Dean’s burden, he can't stand watching the man he loves wither and die right before his eyes and will do whatever it takes to see Dean get that cure, even if it means breaking his own heart in the process.

Summary
“This is the best part,” Dean says, pointing to the movie. Cas, comes as an afterthought, a voiceless projection of Dean’s subconscious to Castiel’s prayer line. Castiel reaches for him, touching his sleeve.
“Are you aware that you’re doing that?” he murmurs. Dean shifts over minutely, promptly not paying attention to The Best Part. His eyelashes cast shadows on his cheekbones, and Castiel should be used to seeing him up close, but he never really gets used to it.

Summary
He watches Sam’s finger point to the written words, “Dean still hardly talks,”.
A few beats of silence pass—nothing out of the ordinary, at this point.
“...Is this what’s happening?” Sam asks gently, implementing that tone of voice that always seems to remind Dean with a heart clenched in nostalgia that his brother is not a little boy anymore, but rather is now a grown man with an impressive emotional maturity.
(TLDR: Dean Winchester and selective mutism: told throughout different stages of his life now that it has come back in full-force yet again after losing Cas to the Empty. Angst, hurt/comfort, and most importantly: happy ending.)

Summary
Jack is distraught when a hopeless Dean meets his demise at the hands of a piece of rebar. As the new God, he knows all. He especially knows that Dean loves Cas as much as Cas loves Dean. So, discarding his commitment to remain hands off, he infiltrates the Empty to save his father, who he knows is the only person who can convince Dean to live again. But, when a sceptical Cas doesn't believe Dean reciprocates his love, Jack decides to show Cas some of the moments—tearing through Purgatory to find him, gazing at him through the window in Rexford, the aftermath of his death at the lake house, and so many more—that prove just how in love with him Dean really is.
