Some people are born heroes, literally and metaphorically.
Those same people can be made into monsters.
And once that’s happened, society's warm embrace becomes cold and unforgiving. So those same people must survive by becoming something in between.Old Summary:
How do you flip a hero-loving society on its head? By breaking the illusion.
The Illusion that heroes are untouchable, all-mighty beings that could do no wrong, that they're always there to save the day, and that they put the people's safety first.
You have to strip them down to their most primal forms, tear away the vestiges of their humanity, and only then will the world see their true nature.
And who better to start the process than an up-and-coming hero-hopeful?

Probably the BEST katsuki-centric story I've ever read. Literally brought me to TEARS.
Writting style was magnificent and engaging, along with pacing kept me entertained until the end. Ending was so fulfilling makes me wanna read again honestly -

Summary
The cake was waiting for them at home, the words "Happy Birthday Izuku" spelled out in swirling red icing.
He seemed fine the whole way home.
But that was when the screaming started.
This wasn't supposed to happen
It was just supposed to be his birthday.
Midoriya is hit by a villain's quirk on a birthday outing. It makes him relive his worst memories, till the 'reel runs out', so to say. This would be bad enough, but he has seven ghosts in his head, who were all murdered viciously, and who hardly lived ideal lives.
Aizawa and the rest of 1-A would do anything to hear him stop screaming and begging for his life over and over and over and over again.

Summary
Shame.
What an inconsequential word. It rolled off the tongue with little effort. Izuku had heard all possible thoughts involving shame, but he'd never felt shame. He's never been ashamed of himself. Izuku had never once bothered to let a silly thing like shame sink into his bones. He couldn't afford it. Survival was paramount, and sometimes, one had to do many shameful things to get by when life only handed you heartache and hatred.
There was no time to worry about the shame of all he'd had to do just to get through another day,
even if Izuku knew in the depths of his aching chest,
he was lying to himself.

OR: Izuku is saved from the roof by Overhaul, instead of meeting All Might after the Sludge Villain incident. His life takes a very different turn.

Writting style was great and the plot had me captivated until the end. Touched on dark topic beautifully without glorifying them. Such a good read. -

Summary
At a young age, Izuku Midoriya gave up his dream to become a hero. He didn't have a quirk. He was not special. He longed to be remembered. He wanted to be known. He wanted people to see him, and what he did, and smile.
It was only at age 15 did he realize that seeing them suffer may be even more enjoyable, and that the quirk he had never known was a beautifully horrible one indeed. It was time to create art, and time to change the world forever.

I loved the ci ceot and how the author didn't dumb down how batshit izuku was. Nor did they make him redeemable in any way.
