    It was late in the night when the sounds began, Dark Shadows purring stops abruptly. Loud crashes and bangs could be heard on the first floor of the house, followed by screams.
    The demons racing thoughts rouse his host, but his nature freezes him in place as the sounds grow closer, moving up the stairs. His cousins taloned feet clicking across the floor can be heard as they ran this way and that.
    'Danger! Stay still and stay quiet. Mama and Daddy will come back for you when it’s safe. Don’t move, don’t make a sound.' his instincts demand.
    So he lay like a fawn in tall grass, hidden away in his parents' nest, where nothing bad could ever touch him, waiting for them to come back, carrying the egg housing his little brother or sister.
    It is Dark Shadow alone who saw the men splattered in blood. Lamp-like yellow eyes stared them down as darkness writhed around his host, growing larger than ever before, maw opening and teeth elongating, keeping all eyes well above the trembling body he shielded.

    The day the commission assigned the infiltration of the LOV, Hawks saw it for what it was: a death sentence. Keigo wants to get out. He needs to get out, before he slips up, or worse, before he is no longer useful, because if they’ve given him a suicide mission... If he's useless... then they'll make him “disappear”, like the others.
    Hawks saw this assignment for what it was: An opportunity. He’s been going around in circles trying to find a way to escape, and everything leads to the same thing: recalibration training at best, and a slow death at the hands of the commission at worst. They are not expecting him to survive, he just needs to play that to his favor. He has never given the Commission a reason to doubt his loyalties, he can’t afford to unless he knows he’ll come out on the other side. So until then, he'll keep pretending everything is fine, that the food he eats doesn't taste like saw dust, that everything isn't dull around him and that he isn't so achingly lonely that he would do just about anything to feel like he belonged.

    Before Katsuki can answer, Kaminari groans. “No way!” he says. “All he’d do is complain the whole time! You know how he is.”

    “That’s easy to deal with,” Ashido scoffs. She leans against the arm of the couch, idly checking her nails. They glitter in the overhead lights, and so do her eyes as they dart over to Katsuki. “He’ll shut up if you ignore him. Everybody knows that.”
