Curly smiles – apologetically again and just as hollow, slowly massaging the meat of his forearm with his other hand. In a dazed focus, Anya watches the pull of fabric, the ease with which the wrinkles fold and deepen, the suit too loose on him.
“I’m managing! I’m managing, really, it’s okay, it’s all okay,” Curly hurries to say, so reassuring as if the backs of Anya’s eyelids aren’t still stamped with the glimpse of what he’s shown her. “You– don’t need to worry. It’s just– it’s a bit difficult, Anya.”

With Otacon on the outside of the distortion and thus unaware that it's happening, Snake finds himself on his own when it comes to solving it and putting things back to normal—unless he can convince Otacon of what's happening and, more importantly, to help him through every iteration even when it means sending him into the same perilous mission over and over again.
