''C'mon, mate, just drop it- I'm fine.'' Tom says, breaking free of Sam's hold and grabbing his half-finished sandwich. ''It'll be as good as new by tomorrow.''
He doesn't bother waiting for Sam's answer and makes a beeline straight for the kitchen door, his legs not quite cooperating as he tries to adjust to the sudden onslaught of aches shooting up and down his spine as he walks. He doesn't need to turn around to know that Sam is giving him The Look.
''Tom.''
Ah yes, there it is, the disappointed dad tone.

Tom has been having back pain for the better part of two weeks, but he's too stubborn to admit he needs rest. The boys look after him anyway.

It was finally happening. An idea when they were younger turning into neverending texts, frustrated phone calls and eventually Luke apologetically making everyone reschedule multiple times because of work and living in Spain.
But it was finally happening.
The four of them had posted across all of their social media about going on a small hiatus, the reasons a mystery much to the curiosity of their fans when in fact, the four of them had plane tickets under their belt, a map full of stops and sights and a caravan waiting patiently for them on American soil paired with the rule of ‘no work allowed’.
To put it simply? A road-trip.

He bought it a week before he told Luke, Sam and Tom how he had been feeling. He was experimenting with it as his mind played over the words he needed to say, the confession that could have ended everything. And when it didn’t, the camera became a frame through which their entire relationship sat.

He grinned at the thought of creeping up behind his friend and scaring him, that fantasy vanishing when he was met by an empty room. Tom’s laptop, an old, second-hand brick of a thing that had almost given up on him three times that year, was sat on his desk. A notebook of scribbled pages was open next to it, a pen without its lid waiting to be used.
He's fine. He doesn't need help. He's coping. (He isn't.)
