Will could not help the question that burst from his lips, it had been ricocheting around his brain like a stray tennis ball and was simultaneously causing him the most excitement, distress and exhilaration he had felt in his entire life.
“Are you my husband?” he blurted. Mike blinked in surprise.
“What?”
Will lost his nerve slightly. He wondered if he had been horribly wrong about this, and maybe in this strange timeline he was just a friend staying over and maybe he’d made a mistake and the daughter wasn’t really his daughter and—
Will faltered. “Um, I — well, I just thought you were — I mean, you are my husband, right?”
Mike looked very alarmed. He was staring at Will as though he had grown a second head.
“Obviously…?” he said, “Are you feeling alright? Did your mom make you try her D-I-Y coffee again?”
When nineteen-year-old Will Byers wakes up to find himself in his forty-three-year-old body, he must—with no experience whatsoever—play the part of world-renowned freelance painter, father of two very troublesome teenagers, and most strangely of all: Mike Wheeler’s husband.

Summary
The sudden sound of the door opening made his head turn up, away from the paper. His hand stilled. It was his roommate. The guy was incredibly attractive. He was, and Will doesn't use this word lightly, hot. If Will was asked to draw his perfect type, this guy would probably be the exact thing to end up on the page.
His roommate seemed almost just as taken back.
"Oh--- hey, uhm. . ." He seemed like he wanted to say something else, but his mouth snapped shut.
Will blinked away his thoughts of this guy, and straightened his posture a bit. He let his leg fall down, turning his body toward the guy more comfortably. The door stayed open, his hand still on the knob.
"Hey-- uh, I'm Will,"
"Uh--- sorry, I'm Mike,"
OR
Will Byers is ecstatic to go to college, residing at UIC in Chicago. Though, an unwanted altercation forces him to change schools. This lands him at NYU, joining his family in New York. He worries about his roommate, crossing his fingers he isn't as bad as the last, but is left with Mike Wheeler. A guitar player with dark clothes, black hair, and is sort of a "Teenage Dirt bag", who just so happens to be the embodiment of Will's exact type. And vice versa.

“Will?” Confusion seeps into Jonathon’s voice.
“No," Mike wants to say, “Not at all, I’m not Will, I can’t be Will, I haven’t even seen Will for so long. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. Why does it have to happen like this?”
But as he scans the room and lands on a mirror, he finds himself staring into the hazel eyes of none other than Will Byers. His mouth drops open, but it’s all wrong, because his mouth has never looked like that before in his life, all plush and—
Well. It’s just wrong.
Or: in early 1986, Mike and Will wake up in each other's bodies, halfway across the country from their homes, families, and everything else that was becoming familiar during their time apart.

Summary
When Mike Wheeler wakes up one day everything seems normal. When he wakes up the next day everything seems normal too, or at least it would be if he wasn’t living the same exact day over again. Every morning Mike wakes up to the same exact day, that is until he realizes he can do whatever he wants… no consequences. When he repeatedly relives his same interactions… something shifts. Maybe he’s less afraid to do say what he wants- to do what he wants, until one day it doesn’t reset, and he finds himself much deeper than he could have imagined.
