The morning after, Tei keeps his word. Breakfast is pretty good and Mutsuko got to sleep in because of him, much to Yaitabashi’s chagrin.

Ivan stares down at the sketchbook once more. “‘We’?”
“Mizi and me,” the little artist says, words shy but firm. Determined.
Ivan drags his black eyes up to look into Till’s green ones. “Mizi and I.”
“Shut. Up.”
“You said that earlier.”
Till turns away to continue drawing. Ivan follows. ]When Till was a child, he'd designed his stage outfit. Ivan keeps this in mind, and presents the drawing in one of his final moments... as a gift of sorts.

Summary
Rook presses her lips together, arms firm behind her back and gloved fingers interlocked. She stands, stiff as a board in the far side of the room, observant. Only its eyes move, a golden yellow that travels across the room with one specific subject in its headlights.
Cecilia travels through the room as if she walks on air. It’s aided by her feathered clothing, which follows her movements, angelic and ethereal. She’s speaking to the other contestants, at the moment, a tiny quirk at the sides of her lips that entices Rook like nothing else. There is something magnetic about her. Its fingers tighten until its nails can bite its palms, even though its gloves, as Rook forcibly tears her gaze away.
She is not Rook’s to observe. She is not Rook’s to rein in. She is free as a bird, flitting throughout the room, speaking to people like second nature. Rook is not blessed like that. She stands in the corner and waits for someone to approach, and hopes, more than anything, that heels will click and sparkling blue eyes will meet her own with intrigue.

A hand in the center of Feng Xin’s chest pushes him flat, and his mind goes blank somewhere before his head hits the pallet. Mu Qing’s thighs are pinning his hips down, his cold fingers tilting his head to the side, pressing against his ear. The needle is up there somewhere, and Feng Xin finds himself flinching in anticipation before he feels so much as a prick against his skin.
Mu Qing lets out a frustrated sigh. “Stop. I haven’t even done anything yet.”
“Just get it over with,” Feng Xin demands, and curls his fingers around his palm where he’s guarding the gold earring. He hasn’t opened his eyes, but he can imagine the needle as it draws close, and he squirms again until he feels the muscles in Mu Qing’s thighs tense around him.

Feng Xin buys an earring, but his ears aren't pierced. Mu Qing offers some assistance.
