He’s sitting the way he always does– sprawled just slightly, one knee bent, hands braced behind him like he owns the place. Like they are normal. Like they haven’t crossed some invisible line that Mike can’t stop obsessing over.
Something around Mike’s lungs tighten painfully.
God, he wants to kiss him.
He wants to close the distance and press his mouth to Will’s and feel that soft, familiar warmth again. Wants to see if it still feels like lightning. He wants to know if it feels different now, with the sun still up and the house awake and the world very much watching.

---“Chicken,” he said finally.
Will blinked. “Chicken?” He frowned, trying to picture it. “Isn’t that the one where you get up on someone’s shoulders and try to knock the other person off?” The image flashed so suddenly and absurdly that a laugh almost escaped him. He caught it halfway, feeling stupid.
Mike shook his head quickly. His pale cheeks flushed, covering his freckles in a faint pink like he was embarrassed, or maybe warm. Will told himself it was probably just the basement lighting. Or the heat.
“No,” Mike said. “Like… the other game.” He rubbed his thumb against the edge of the blanket, not looking at Will now. “The one where you dare each other to do stuff. And you have to keep going until someone backs out.” He swallowed. “Chicken.”

Summary
Will expects him to jump right into alpha mode. Help him, whisper sweet reassurances in his ear before taking him to the bathroom to clean off. But, that doesn’t happen. Instead, he sees something else there reflected back at him. His pupils are wide, black to the edges. He watches Mike lick his lips before swallowing, like he’s trying to keep something stuffed down inside.
Familiar, because it’s the expression Mike makes when he’s turned on.
Will’s pregnant titties leak at dinner and Mike wants some.

And then suddenly, Will is falling backward onto the bed. A quick movement, barely any warning. The next thing he knows, he’s sitting on Mike’s lap. His hands immediately grab onto Mike’s shoulders to steady himself.
“What the hell,” he breathes.
“Hi,” Mike says, grinning.
He leans in for a kiss, but Will presses a hand to his face, stopping him.
“We have only forty minutes left, Michael,” Will says, doing his best to keep his voice annoyed.

Mike, with one hand tucked into Will's back pocket cupping his ass, blinks in visible confusion.
"...Have I been doing something to make you think otherwise?" Mike asks, perplexed.
Will knows, objectively, that it's normal for his body to change as he gets older. Emotionally, it's a little more complicated than that. After starting college, Will goes from skinny to average, and average to soft, and eventually lands on chubby, and stays there. He just wishes he knew how to feel about it.

"Is Will your boyfriend?" Holly asks, and Mike immediately chokes on the lettuce in his mouth.
"Wh- what?" he gasps, dropping his fork and swallowing back the salad that suddenly feels like cement in his throat. Holly's looking at him with a strange expression, like she's trying to figure something out.
"Will. Is he your boyfriend?" she repeats, even though Mike very obviously heard her, and the question doesn't feel any less shocking the second time.
"No!" He yelps. "No, why would you think that?"
Holly shrugs, taking another bite of spaghetti like this is a normal conversation and she is not slowly killing him. "Nancy calls him your little boyfriend sometimes, and Mom says he's your person, which basically means the same thing, and you live together and act like a couple and unpack groceries together, and- I don't know. Seems like it could be a thing."

The first time it happens, Will classifies it as a little accident.
When he wakes, the morning sun is burning through the window onto their faces, and Mike’s cursing as he stands to close the curtains, stumbling all the way.
“Scoot over,” he grumbles, voice dry, and for a second Will can’t do anything other than sigh like a lovesick idiot. It’s a second too late for Mike, because he grumbles more words Will doesn’t catch under his breath and then physically pushes Will towards the wall to lay beside him, arm over Will’s middle. A second of silence passes, then Mike sighs, only to whine: “Fuck, my head hurts.”
Will can’t help it: he breaks down laughing, much to Mike’s offense.

And so lonely that he’d rather talk to someone out here under Hawkins' night sky than stand along the wall inside for another minute.
“What’s your name?” Steve tries, voice light and hopeful.
“Like you care,” the mysterious Myers replies. Unlike Steve’s kind tone, this masked stranger speaks low and monotone, showing clear disinterest.

The guy shuts his phone off and reaches up to his ear to pull out an earbud. He shoots Will a grin, which does not help the whole blushing-crimson thing. “Hey,” he says coolly, and Will admires his composure while he wills the earth to collapse beneath him.
The guy quirks an eyebrow at Will when he doesn’t look away, then seems to take in his slightly disheveled and paint-stained appearance - he’d had his painting and drawing class just before he’d gone home, and had managed, as he always does, to get paint everywhere - because his smile grows a little softer, a little fonder. His shoulders relax against the bench, and Will lets out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. “You get sexiled?”
