Summary
Sunlight pours through the blinds, slicing across Buck’s bed. He groans and rolls over, turning his back to the window, but even that small shift sets the world spinning. His stomach lurches in protest.
Hangover.
The nausea sits heavy, low, twisting in his gut, but there’s something else too—like his whole body is half a step behind, out of sync with itself. His head throbs, his tongue feels thick and dry, and underneath it all sits that familiar, sour knot of hangxiety. Except it’s sharper this time. More jagged.
Jesus—how much did he drink last night?
He searches for scraps of memory and finds almost nothing. Blank spaces where the night should be. Music. Lights. Glitter on his skin. After that—nothing solid. He can’t even remember how he got home.
Or, Buck has a night out with Ravi that doesn't end well, not that he can remember it. Eddie is there to help him pick up the pieces.

If the decade past had a sole benefit, it had given Clive the questionable gift of being able to wake suddenly, silently – easily. Not a dozing dream or shrouded nightmare clung to him. He woke as if merely blinking and the solar was imperceptivity silent and still.

Summary
The man snorted a derisive breath through his nostrils. “Peachy,” he said with a crooked grin, and despite the humor, there was something dangerous—feral—about that smirk. Maybe it was the rugged jawline or the mangled scars, the blood slowly dripping from the split in his lip or the finger tapping at the butt of his gun; but Roy’s instincts sparked aflame. He needed this man. He was the one.
Before Roy could fully think it through, he barreled ahead and asked, “You got any plans for the next month?”
The man arched an eyebrow, his gaze narrowing as he stared straight at Roy. “No,” he slowly said, the word careful and drawn out with his wariness. “Sounds like you might, though.”
--
In which Roy hires Jason to accompany him on a trip to pick up an expensive stallion; and while sleeping beneath the stars and hunting rattlesnakes, Roy sees a side to this rough, rugged man that irrevocably stirs Roy's heart.
