"Animals aren’t required to be unconscious during a dissection. Garroth felt pity for the frog he had been paired with last period, mostly because he could relate. Being so exposed, so open (literally) as a sharp pain traveled through his chest. He knew the cause of this pain. He knew who held the scalpel that pierced his heart. Unable to shield the raw thoughts and emotions that spilled from his body, spewing untold words all over the walls leaving a deep red stain. How Garroth wished he was unconscious for this. His father would kill him for the mess, his mother left in tears. He didn’t want to think about how his brother would react, at least not one of them. "

(Intently she looked at Roman, hoping he would do her a brotherly favor and follow her lead; provide a similar laugh, even if totally bogus. To her dismay, though, all she got was a contrived half-smile. Because Roman’s a bitch.)
Unfortunately for everyone in the vicinity, Kendall must have been in a pushy mood, because he sat up straighter– and even put his headphones down on a table, practically a universal signal that shit is getting real– just to say: “No, I think you haven’t said quite enough.”
