Summary
Hob is not entirely surprised by Dream's appearances while he sleeps, these days. He's never going to make the mistake of taking the luxury for granted, but it has stopped feeling so entirely foreign, the presence of another living creature in his flat, usually lurking around like an oversized crow waiting for Hob to wake up.
This morning, however, Hob senses something troubling outside of the general eerie that Dream supplies to the every day. The flat is usually silent even when occupied by Dream. He seems to move without stirring the air, like the human plain of existence isn't entirely sure what the rules are. Even when he handles things like cups, spoons, the sound is muffled - nearly delayed. But this is different. The change in the atoms is palpable even to Hob's rudimentary senses. He gets out of bed hurriedly, smelling ozone and char. Distress.
"Dream?" He asks. There is no answer, but an awareness in the quiet that does it for him. Progressing into the living room, Hob stalls when he catches sight of Dream. His breath leaves his ribs as if knocked out by the buck of a stallion. "Oh shit-"

Summary
Desire stares at him, their golden eyes heavy lidded with a cat-like amusement.
"Oh, darling," they say. Hob wrinkles his nose.
"What do you want?"
"What do I 'Desire'?"
"Just tell me, mate. I don't have much desire to play twenty questions with the person who directly contributed to the suicide of my best friend."
Desire opens perfectly painted lips, the exact colour of a bruise, and then closes them again. They look to Despair, who shifts anxiously.
"It is a delicate matter. We'd like to come in, Hob Gadling. It is about our late brother."
An accusatory silence settles for a few seconds, and then Hob disrupts it like a startled flock of birds, shoving the door open wider.
"Fine. Make it quick though, I've got stuff to do."The twins come to Hob at the behest of their late brother, to fulfil his final wish - with Hob's help.

A queer(er) remix of the events in Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon.
Will needs a psychological profile drawing up, and to catch a whiff of a particular scent. An old friend can provide him with both, but enlisting Hannibal's help has had near fatal consequences before, the after effects which Will must now weather if he hopes to understand the Red Dragon.
