Summary
Mike is crying.
It doesn’t make sense to Will; Mike doesn’t cry like this. He’s shaking at the edge of the bed, saying it over and over like a spell, like if he says it enough times it’ll stop being true. “You don’t have cancer,” he whispers. “You don’t. This isn’t real.”
Will tries to answer. All that comes out is a thin breath and a weak cough that tastes like metal. Mike's hand holds on tight to his. “They said hospice,” he whispers, voice breaking. “What does that even mean? Is it—is it some sort of hospital care?” Will squeezes his fingers as best he can.
He’s so tired.
Or, in which Will gets lung cancer from all his time in the Upside Down and Mike doesn’t want to make the burden heavier by confessing his feelings.
