Now that she was actually paying attention, it was beyond obvious that something was wrong. Caine was always a peculiar character, filled to the brim with personality. He was excitable, dramatic, and incredibly expressive.
He wasn't any of those things anymore.
He still tried to be, clearly, he still put in the effort to make sure there were daily adventures and plenty of other ‘amusing’ activities… But his mind wasn't in it anymore. Instead of excited speeches on what the day's adventure would be, he'd present it like it was a job, no excited blaring voice, no wild motions, no bits, just a simple summary of what was going to happen
