Crack pairing!
After a painful break up with Italy, and an accidental call with Australia that would never have happened if Germany had been paying more attention, he starts to wonder if perhaps he and Australia had slightly more in common than he initially thought of an otherwise perfect stranger on the other side of the world. Though they both find themselves somewhat isolated from the majority of the world for slightly different reasons, it starts to become clear that the loneliness they'd come to accept lessens with each new realisation about each other. They manage to somehow point out every flaw in each other purely by having the advantage of also seeing it in themselves. It forces both uncomfortable conclusions and reassuring understandings. Both countries learn to let their guard down a bit more over time and move on from past wounds. However, this newfound trust and loyalty lasts only up until their view of ethics and morality start to diverge and they struggle to agree on when the ends justify the means.
Will it last, or it become all too clear that maybe it's better after all to have oceans and continents between them? -

Summary
Tensions are thawing between the Soviet Union and the United States. After several decades of the two super powers being at each other's throats, it seems that the country's governments are starting to patch old wounds. However, the public is different, people still remain skeptical of each other.
Ivan attempts to cope with his identity and the constant reminder that he is a black sheep among many white ones. He’s living in what he was raised to believe was the enemy's territory, it conflicts with his trauma. Just because he wasn’t living in the Soviet Union anymore didn’t mean his fears wouldn’t follow him across the Atlantic to haunt him. He feels like an outcast, and even a traitor, despite hating his home country for the suffering he was put through. His past lingered, like the smell of cigar smoke that clung to his father’s suits.
However, during Ivan’s first year of school in the U.S., there is an American boy he meets that makes him forget certain worries.
Even if the boy is the most obnoxious person Ivan has ever had a conversation with.
; or teenager Ivan Braginsky attempts to find his true self in his mess that is his past, and possibly find love in the process.

“No, no, no, you don’t get it,” Alfred pleads. Matthew sits next to him on the couch, listening carefully. “I’m not that guy. I'm not some politician. My name is Alfred Bonnefoy-Kirkland, and last night I was in Massachusetts, and today I’m here, and I don't know why.”

Now he had to figure out how to reply to the heaps of letters requesting that he “return to the palace after befriending the young girl” from her supposed brother, Kiku, who coincidentally shares a very similar name to the short black haired young lady.
