Will Byers is a ghost.
He doesn't remember most of his life. He knows he killed himself. That was apparent when he was watching his own memorial in the school gym. Other than that, it's all a blur.
Oh, he also runs a blog. A mysterious blog called the "Spirit Weekly". In the deepest corner of the school's attic, he found a magic computer he can write on. Now, he listens to people's drama and posts it for the whole school to read. He's not evil. He's just bored. It's boring being a ghost.
Mike Wheeler lost his best friend over a year ago. He feels dead. He would be lying if he said he hadn't considered following right after him. He couldn't do that, though. He couldn't do it to his friends and family. Not like Will did.

But when someone new starts giving Will attention, something in Mike shifts. The jealousy that sparks in him is confusing annd impossible to ignore. Tension builds and the bond they’ve always relied on suddenly feels fragile.

Mike is unsure what to do. Will has been distant. He notices how will barely eats. He notices how quiet hes becoming. He knows everyone else has. But no one's said anything. He doesbt know how to approach will during this but hes trying his best while will is constantly stuck in a loop of love and pain. Will doesnt seem to think anyone notices despite how obvious it actually is. Hes constantly pushing away others as he struggles mentally. Mike is attempting to help but continues to struggle with getting will to eat or open up at all. Unsure of how to handle it mike and the others attempt to help will as a group and individually.

And yes, maybe Will should let him go. Maybe he should let his heart grieve this and accept once and for all that they weren't meant to be together. But since returning to Hawkins, and with his family staying at the Wheelers' house indefinitely, it was harder than before to convince himself that he was willing to truly let go of his feelings.
Call it silly, but those little moments? They rekindled something in Will's heart that was beginning to fade.
