Summary
Kai has two things that drive him forward in life — hockey and his loved ones. It all starts going to hell when he hides the real aftermath of his injury from the world, which may jeopardise everything he has ever dreamt of.
But he is not as slick as he thinks when a raven-haired guy storms into his life. Cole has been dealing with grief and insomnia for so long, he is not sure he’ll ever get his voice back.

"I'm to pretty to die!" He cried. "None of us are dying Jay-" Kai reasoned, shaking Jay as if to snap him into reality.
Zane laid out the travellers tea, opening it. "It's now or never." Cole stated his words shaky as the Bounty began enclosing on them even more. The group began moving towards it before Zane stopped them. "Cole goes first." His words soft as he ushered Cole through the gateway, then himself. Jay and Kai following closely behind. The ship then snapped, the sound following them through the portal like a sick taunt.

Summary
The plan was simple - fool Chen, break his staff, put him in prison and enjoy another day in Ninjago as its heros. Where things went wrong? Kai still tries to lodge the cause in his mind. Maybe it was the betrayal, or the kidnapping. Perhaps the lack of communication, or really just his villainous side coming to life. Among many things and people nothing was certain for more than few days. But he had to keep moving.
Or a rewrite of s4 that blooms into a what-if Kai abandonded ninjas and instead became a vigilante. (In my mind, it's a long-shot)
