Based off of the 2005-2009 period of JRA horse racing, it mostly follows two students attending Tracen Academy: the top student Deep Impact and the new student Vodka. Vodka, having just transferred to Tracen just yesterday, is nervous to start her new life; but at the same time very excited. She wants to be the coolest Umamusume ever, but if she REALLY wants to be the coolest, she will have to face her rivals in many G1 races; especially Daiwa Scarlet, who she used to be friends with during childhood but got separated when she started her adolescence. Deep Impact was a top student who excels in both academics and in races. Vodka takes an interest in Deep and convinces him to help her become the coolest, and so begins the journey of them as they try to defy all odds and try to achieve Vodka's goal.
