Scott took the initiative in stoking a fire for them to ward off the chill of the night and prayed not to trace the same recursive loops he had been taking with Mike. Mike was a delicate thing, he knew; fragile like glass at the best of times and cut doubly sharp at the worst, much to Scott’s chagrin. Then again, maybe Mike always had been his weakness. This venture was proving to be one of those times and they’d been here before—when Mike was pleading for some semblance of security and ready to ravenously devour any crumb of affection Scott would pass his way. That’s just the way Mike was: surviving on scraps of love that he’d ration for days.

“So…there’s nothing going on there?” Eddie is biting his lip. He knows he’s the one avoiding looking at the camera now. A familiar pit is growing in his stomach that he can recognize as ugly, hot jealousy which isn’t even tempered by the relief he feels from Buck deliberately choosing not to share a bed with the man.
“Me and Miguel? No way.” Buck laughs loudly, like the idea is ludicrous. Eddie doesn’t get what’s so funny. “Miguel’s straight as a board.”
So was I, Eddie’s mind unpleasantly supplies. Until I wasn’t.or, Eddie has an inconvenient realization 800 miles away from Buck and is stuck spiraling after the new guy at the 118 seems to be replacing him in more ways than one.

Buck has always felt too much.
So that’s why it's odd to Buck that the pull has just disappeared. Ever since he was sent into that hallway, sobbing with a force so strong it brought him to his knees, it's been quiet. Normally, he would relish in that quiet, praise whatever god that had taken pity on him and listened, so that he could finally regulate his emotions somewhat normally. But the quiet is eerie, rather than calm, as if something is missing that he can’t quite place.
The waters are calm and still, no little waves stirring him to feel irritation or anguish or sorrow or whatever the hell he’s supposed to be feeling in the fallout of Bobby’s death.
He supposes he should feel some kind of guilt about that, too, but the waters don’t respond. Buck is almost afraid he left some part of himself behind in that godforsaken lab.
The waters are calm, and Bobby’s dead, and all he can hear is “They’re going to need you”.
