He considered turning back, pretending he hadn’t seen them, but the sound of a chair scraping against the floor cut through the deafening silence.“Hyunjin-ah.” Chan, the student council president, gestured at the vacant chair, “Take a seat.”

At 27 with a stable job as a teacher, it was finally time for him to settle on his own. Looking back at how he led his life, he felt a bit proud. Trully, he has nothing to be ashamed of. Therefore, this new place felt like a new beginning, the beginning of his life as an experienced adult. The only missing thing : a partner.
Accross of the hallway, Hyunjin lived with his two children, Junghwa & Angelina, from a past union. Said union that left him completely broken and struggling. Between taking care of kids, depression and ongoing custody appeals— life was a little harsh on him. Luckily, to help him, he could count on Chan and his parents. He didn’t really need anyone else. You could say otherwise, but he's doing well on his own. Love is bullshit anyway.

Hyunjin has been at JYPE psychiatric facility for six months, and he has no intention of leaving. He's perfectly happy deflecting questions about his feelings, tonguing his meds, and sharing a singular (illegal) iPod nano with Jisung, Seungmin, and Innie. So what if he can't exactly remember chunks of his childhood, and so what if the mere notion of rejection makes him want to rip his hair out? So what if he's running out time before he's passed on to the next inpatient hospital?
Felix has been a dancer for the Poirot Ballet since he was thirteen, and he has no plans of stopping dance (or his determined path towards perfection) any time soon, no matter how much his body wants to take him out of the game. So when he's sentenced to two weeks of mandatory inpatient treatment for a supposed 'Adderall dependency', he's less than thrilled. After all, he's been nothing but a perfect, moldable, emotionless doll for years. How is he supposed to fake a sickness he doesn't have, while keeping his actual 'illness' secret?

So yes, Minho still feels like he's dying even now, a year later, as he sits on his bed after work and after a few shots of whiskey, and dials Hyunjin’s number with his trembling fingers and a pain inside of him that knocks the air out of his lungs.
Perhaps that's the reason why he lets out a gasp, or maybe it's the way Hyunjin picks up on the third ring, when the older had expected him to have blocked his number long ago.
