This is just me indulging in my craving for whump and angst. A few chapters after the first are a little softer, but that's mostly just to set the stage for the psychological part of the whump. It will keep getting dark, but with a heavy mix of angsty romance. If that's your type of thing, enjoy!

Katsuki leaned forward and set his Chu-hi down on the coffee table.
He contemplated. Decided. Acted.
“Oi. Izuku.”
The room’s chatter died, all eyes swiveling between him and the green-haired man.
Izuku blinked. “Yeah, Kacchan?”
“Say my name.”
Izuku froze for a second, Calpis halfway to his mouth. Katsuki knew he understood immediately. The pink on his cheeks deepened. He set his drink down with a small, self-deprecating but humored smile playing on his lips. He shook his head slightly, as if chastising himself for a part of himself he’d long since made peace with.
Then, he looked right at Katsuki with eyes bright and clear despite the alcohol. Cheerfully and without hesitation, Izuku took a breath.
When Mina asked a simple drunken question about why Katsuki lets Izuku call him 'Kacchan,' no one expected it explode into what it did.
Considering this involves Katsuki and Izuku, they really should have.

Astarion should have died that night. In the story we know he did exactly that. Here, things went a little differently and he is very much alive.
However, healing magic has its limitations, and the Astarion who survived is markedly different from the one that fell to the Gur's clubs.
A month into recovery, he's still coming to terms with his loss of independence. Bedbound, partially mute, and being cared for by the same person who saved him in the first place: his mother. Apparently her adventuring days didn't fully end, even after decades of playing at being a proper Upper City wife.
Even worse, soon his beloved father decides caring for Astarion is a waste of time and resources, and tries to convince his mother to send him to... somewhere, anywhere, else.
It's amazing, what you start to notice when you're forced to stop and pay attention to people not named Astarion. So many aspects of his world and family, he now sees all too clearly. Out of the one eye that still works, anyway.
