And like always, Mathew and Alfred were caught in the middle.Mathew reaches his breaking point in a breaking home, and hatches a plan to escape.
Leaving turns out to be easier than expected. But staying free is a harder challenge.

Cale wanted to rest. He needed to rest. Yet, he couldn’t calm his heart. Not with Deruth in front of him, not when he was hugging him so tightly, not when he was caring about him like he was his own child.
But Cale was not his child. Guilt was eating him up. He supposed it was only fair to tell the truth to someone he learned to call ‘father’. Even if he’ll regret it later on.
Aka, I just finished reading the first book and the last scene of Deruth and Cale struck my heart. I love them too much to not give them this.
