Summary
Unlike normal ectomatter, this was a tarish green, oil slick and pollution and everything icky that no ghost would ever dare stand in the same room as. There were places like that in the ghost zone- patches of icked up matter that tended to make anyone who accidentally sped through it grumpy and in dire need of a shower.
“Oh that’s nasty,” Danny muttered. “What the fuck ghost senses.”
The pit of runoff just continued to boil angrily. If anything, it was glowing even brighter, almost blinding him as liquid began to slosh around, frothing up and spilling over the sides of the ditch. Danny backed up right as a hand burst from the center of the pit, followed by an arm, a body, a whole person who clambered out and shook like a dog, sending goopy ecto everywhere.Or: Danny meets a Tim(e) traveler

Summary
So Scar has been selected for the starring role in a death game! That’s fine, it is perfectly expected and fine. Someone had to notice his charisma and star power (SCARRRR POWER) sooner or later.
Also, Scar grew up High Vex, which meant that “battle royale vs your friends and family, loser gets hunted for sport” was pretty much just another Tuesday for him. True, he’d never been much good at that part of the High Vex lifestyle, to the point that his family had been preparing to sell his Name to an Evoker before Cub helped him skip town—but! The point is! He has experience.
(or: the Third Life AU where Scar knows a little more than he should, and Grian's life is so terrible that the death game is kind of healing, actually.)

Tiny, delicate fingers hold the bouquet in a hand. The uncomprehending gaze of Cale Henituse observes the flowers, his frail figure vivid in the snowy field. Brilliant, blood red hair frames a pale face, and the milk-white hue of white orchids cover his mouth, leaving only beautiful, rust-colored eyes the only other splash of color on the portrait he makes.
It's almost the exact same portrait Ron remembers, of the young master he had buried, over thirty years in the future.
Cale Henituse, age thirty-nine, had been murdered by White Star in a life he never lived.
