Summary
What happens when the cut on Dean's arm, done to prove he is human, gets noticed by the school? They come to certain conclusions and Dean finds himself forced to go to the school counsellor. The young hunter has to play along or they will call John, only for them to find out that John is not in the picture at the moment and the boy's are living alone out of a motel room.
During Dean's sessions he is forced to confront the doubts he has buried in his head over the life they live. He is forced to really think about his life and for the first time, to think about what he wants to do with it. Dean is forced to confront his pain. Pain he didn't realise he had, and didn't dare recognise before now.
With the boy's alone Dean and Sam are safe to enjoy normality for once. Dean could now concentrate on; his brother, homework, providing and creating a home for Sam and a pair of blue eyes Dean keeps seeing when waiting for his counselling sessions, and cant get out of his head. Blue eyes belonging to a boy Dean found himself compelled to try to save and protect.
Good things do not last forever, Dean knew that more than anyone. He knew it was only a matter of time until John returned.- Language:

And reading about my favourite characters struggling helps me, in some weird way, so I thought I'd post for the hell of it. But you've been warned. Please don't read this if you think it'll trigger you. Stay safe :)
"Sam's always been a crier. It disappoints his father, but Sam Winchester cries at absolutely anything. Now, though, he can't bring himself to cry. In fact, Sam hasn't cried for months. John and Dean have both noticed, the former making a comment about Sam "finally manning up", and Sam's older brother telling him that this is good - he's tougher now. That'll make him a better hunter. Sam doesn't feel better, though. In fact, he's never felt worse."

The male was circling Cassian, no doubt carefully considering what to do to him next. “You Illyrian brutes are tough bastards,” he mused aloud.
Then it happened. As the male moved around Cassian once more, the general shifted his wing in slightly so he wouldn’t touch it as he passed. The move was purely instinctual, and yet the male stopped, cocking a head even as a hand darted out to grasp onto the curve of that wing. Cassian stiffened, eyes sliding shut, and finally, finally, Azriel’s eyes slid away, coming to rest on the male.
The male was already watching him, eyes glittering with malice. “I wonder,-” he mused slowly, grip tightening on Cassian’s wing until the bones of it, both so fragile and so strong at the same time, groaned under the pressure. “-what you would do if I were to rip these wings from his back.”
When torturing Azriel fails to get him talking, his captors wonder if forcing him to watch as they hurt someone else will work better. For Febuwhump Day 18 prompt: forced to watch.
