Summary
After what felt both like just a moment and eons of time, Eddie was sat in his car, driving home to Chris. How was he meant to go on without Buck? Buck was one of the most important people in his life, second only to Christopher. When planning his future, he had always seen Buck there at his side. His heart stuttered. Oh. He loved Buck. Now having lost him it seemed so clear. No girlfriend had ever reached this level of importance to him. They were raising Chris together. And now he was going home to his son to tell him that the most important person in their lives was gone.
He felt numb, what was he going to say? His own grief felt almost secondary to the grief he knew he was about to cause in his son.
How did one tell a child that another one of their parents had died? For truthfully that was what Buck was and Eddie had never been more certain of it than in that moment. The thought used to bring him so much joy, the knowledge that his sone would always have someone who loved him as much as Buck did.
But now… now it just made his heart ache even more. He shook himself slightly as he pulled into the driveway. Chim was right, Buck had survived some horrible things, there was still a chance. -

Gentle footsteps approaching from his room behind him interrupted his thoughts and he tensed having hoped to avoid conversation. But to his delight as he turned around, he saw a welcome figure approaching. The tall figure of his dear friend and music teacher emerging from the shadow of his personal drawing room.
“Kim! I was not expecting to see you until the festivities tomorrow.”
A soft smile graced the man’s face as he stepped out into the light of the setting sun, his warm brown eyes looking on the prince fondly.

It took another drink before he was relaxed enough to head onto the dance floor. The music was loud but held a sensual rhythm. He allowed a man standing at the edge of the dancefloor to pull him close and let the music guide him. He wasn’t going to go home with this guy, but he was handsome enough and a decent dancer, so he was a good distraction for now.
However, he hadn’t been dancing for long before he felt a pair of hands on his waist pulling him backwards against a strong body. He would have objected but the hands on him were deliciously strong, and he rather enjoyed the feeling of the man behind him, so he allowed himself to be led in a slow and sensual grind. He felt a satisfied hum into his ear before a terrifyingly familiar voice growled into his ear.
“What’s your name, beautiful?”
Pete couldn’t decide whether to laugh or cry. He had heard that voice in his dreams far to often not to recognise it. -

Beautiful. That was all Chan could think as he watched Big train the new recruits. Usually there were at least one or two in every new batch who had at least some ability above average, but this group seemed as average as any guard of the Theerapanyakun family was allowed to be. They were in the Pool today and Big was leading the session, Chan felt a little guilty for blatantly admiring his subordinate, but he was a gorgeous sight to behold as he directed the recruits.

Genuinely cannot decide if I love or hate this. It is written incredibly well and I truly love the characterisations. But man the story fucks me up. But also kind of in a good way...... Very conflicted. Great writing.
