Summary
Bilbo beats a hasty retreat back to the Shire after the events of Battle of the Five Armies. That is, after he makes sure a certain dwarf king and his nephews will recover fully. Much as he'd like to stay, he knows what banishment is, and he's not about to test the dwarf king's patience again. Shortly after he arrives back home, a letter from the mountain starts a string of correspondence in which everyone says very little, and Bilbo and Thorin both can't bring themselves to say what they mean.

Summary
Finally, Dwalin caught sight of the dwarf he had been looking for. Karsus was standing near his father, head down and looking a little downtrodden. Tired maybe, Dwalin thought. Suddenly, bright blue eyes met his. Eyes as blue and clear as the sea.
Dwalin gave Karsus a crooked grin, causing the younger dwarf to blush and look away quickly. Perhaps he had made the dwarf uncomfortable. Then no, Karsus glanced up again and gave Dwalin a warm smile.

Stede will do whatever Ed asks of him, whatever it takes to not scare him away. He wants to do it right this time, doesn’t want to fuck it all up, wants to give Ed what he deserves. But he’s also a man with needs, needs he’s only just realized are actually alive inside him and pounding at his chest and screaming, so like a gentleman, he’d taken care of them in the bathroom while Ed was finishing up his punishment duties on deck.
Ed, apparently, had not had the foresight to do anything of the sort.

Of course, after they’ve become inseparable, Ed’s past catches up to him as Stede tries to find a way out of his own obligations, and the solace they’ve found in each other is threatened.
“You’re freaking out in here,” Lucius says, shutting the door behind himself. He grabs two rocks glasses from the bar cart and a decanter of the good whisky and sets it all on Stede’s desk.“Astute,” Stede declares. “I’ve asked Ed on a date.”
“Ooh, Mr. Mechanic?” Lucius simpers, and Stede blushes. “Haven’t you two been dating for weeks?”
